Another Reminder That I Want to Mail You Things

Make me happy and let me give you things!  I’d stop these posts, except I know for sure that some of you who have gotten (and enjoyed) my cards in the past still haven’t seen/responded to these posts.  So, if you are feeling shy, don’t!  Give me your address again and you will get a pretty card.  There is Shahrukh on it!  Oh, and if you have never gotten a thank you card before, just started reading/commenting, also LET ME THANK YOU!  IT MAKES ME HAPPY!

I just used a coupon to get a massive number of Fall greeting cards, don’t let them go to waste!  Put in your information and claim your own.  And, as an added bonus, when the card arrives you will get to see my hilariously bad handwriting in the address.

If you want to get my nice Fall greeting card, all you need to do is the following steps:

  1. Go to the Comments section of this post and open the Leave a Reply box.  If you are already logged in, click “Log Out”.  If you are already logged in to the site, it will look like this:

2. If you aren’t logged in to the site, great!  That’s right where you should be!  And it should look like this:

Leave a Reply Login

3.  Once it looks like that, you are ready to type!  Any comment made without an email entered or one of the icons clicked to log in, goes to me for moderation and will not be posted.  So you can enter your information below like this, with username first if you want me to know who you are in Don’t Call It Bollywood-land!  And then type in your address:

Address Reply

4. And then just click Post Comment!  And it will wing it’s way to me as a private communication, that will not appear on the site.

And don’t worry, if you mess up the instructions and it posts, I can still make it go away right away.  Not that I think our site is being trolled by terrible people for addresses, but it’s just common sense not to put contact information on a public website.

Once I get your message, I will immediately drop a card in the mail to you!  And you will be glad, because my cards are THE BEST!  For example, this was last years Valentine’s card:

untitled

  1. I suspect some folks are reluctant to provide a mailing address for fear of ending up on some sort of advertising list or being exposed to future pestering or some sort. Do you have plans for the address list other than sending cards?

    • Nope! And as I said, even if you gave me your address in the past, I won’t send you anything unless you explicitly give it to me again this time around. And if you give it to me this time, you will get this one card, but nothing else.

  2. I’m amazed how quick your cards came here. Usually Italian Post works very slow, we must wait weeks for packages and letters (e.g they delivered Christmas cards 1 month after X-mas ) but your card is already here after only few days. I like it even more than the last one. Thank you 😁

  3. Margret, your website is amazing. I’ve finally found my SRK community. Thank you for delving in so deeply to JHMS. I sooo appreciate your understanding of human nature, motivations, cause & effect, personality growth. mature reasonings as well as your vast knowledge of Hindi cinema. I am an SRK addict. I collect pictures on my computer the way others collect stamps or coins. I don’t have a twitter account but I check his every day. Just reached 28 million on twitter!!!

I offer two suggestions: 1. Just like you wrote up your “falling in love with SRK” for the Universe, create a section on your website and invite fans to write up their story. We can get to know each other that way and will feast on the similarities.
    2. This suggestion is mine alone because I believe I have something to offer your followers: I have the newest gigantic book of essays from his directors. Because it is very expensive, very few people will have access to it. I have condensed each essay (not excerpted as I want to avoid copywrite problems) and call them snippets. I have posted them over 30 days on a couple of facebook websites. I would offer them all to you to post in one place with perhaps a link referenced at the end of each film in his filmography section. Just tell me the best way to send them.

Shahrukh reached half way around the world, through another language, through another culture, through another religion and scooped me into his fan club. His magnetism was so strong that it took my breath away. Who was this man that could capture the heart of a non-movie-goer?!
I have now bought every movie DVD and watched them multiple times. I went to hear him in San Jose SLAM Tour. I have listened to countless interviews on YouTube. I have purchased and devoured all three of the books written about him because I urgently needed to know if he was as good and wonderful as his fans believed him to be. He is truly a role model. I bless him for that.

I am a Calif grandmother who has fallen in love with Shahrukh Khan because of the values he teaches in his movies and lives out in his life. We all know he stands for loving deeply, being faithful to your spouse, respecting women, working hard, connecting with God, being tolerant of other religions, being friends across borders, standing courageously against nudity and foul language in his films. He always urges us to be humble, to work hard, and to dream big.

I have just received my copy of the gigantic silver book SRK: 25 Years of a Life all the way from India to Calif. in its hard slip cover. SRK wrote the delightful forward and 30 of his directors have each written an essay about him. Because the book is more expensive than many can afford, I believe I can add to the conversation and hunger us SRKians have with snippets from these essays. So I begin with the oldest as a sample for you, Margret.

Snippet #1 from the gigantic silver book SRK: 25 Years of a Life – Director of Fauji 1989 – I am known as the man who made Fauji and by default Shah Rukh. I didn’t make a superstar; I simply chose the right man for a job I had. He wasn’t the typical good-looking boy, but he had a distinct quality to him that the camera loved. I think every superstar’s journey begins with a strike of lightening, like a touch of divine intervention. That gift seemed to come to Shah Rukh in the devotion of his mother. I met her twice and both times was awestruck by her unconditional love for him. For her, the whole world, even her own existence was on one side and Shah Rukh was on the other side. When you have such intense blessings on your side, it has to make a difference. He works so hard and with such single-minded focus that success was inevitable. Still years, age and success will wear you down. The rarified air that you breathe will eventually thin and sooner or later, you’ll have to come down to earth. It’s the coming down part that the true test of your character. That’s the one thing I pray for superstar Shah Rukh – a happy life even when he climbs down from Mount Everest.

    • I am so glad you found my website! If you liked the JHMS coverage, please click on the “Scene By Scene Index” button in the menu and check out the Dilwale, Raees, Dear Zindagi, and of course DDLJ coverage if you haven’t already.

I like your willingness to post about the director book. I’ve got a couple of options for you. first, here is the link to the short post i did based on the excerpts: https://dontcallitbollywood.com/2016/12/13/new-shahrukh-book-best-excerpts/

And second, I probably have a post up for the films Shahrukh did with most of these directors, since I have written about the majority of his filmography by this point. Just search for the title and see if they pop up.

The homescreen of my blog lists out the most recent comment no matter what post it is on, so people will see your comments and read them. and then if they return later to read a review of King uncle, for instance, the comment will be there waiting for them. Of course, if you are willing to do all this work!
