It’s October, and it’s the 13th post, let’s get spooky! And also sexy. And therefore Vampires!!!! 13 reasons Shahrukh might be a Vampire. Well, 7 reasons he could be, 6 reasons he probably isn’t.
1.1. He loves to dress in Black
2. He loves to go out at night
3. Strange power over animals
4. Strange power over children
5. Strange power over women
6. Eyes are sensitive to sunlight
7. Ageless beauty
Now, reasons he probably ISN’T a vampire.
8. Not Afraid Crosses
9. Not Afraid of Mirrors
10. Can Go Out in Sunlight
11. Does Visibly Age
12. Can be injured
13. Eats Food
So, that’s 7 for and 6 against. And I was able to find way way more photos for the “pro-vampire” argument than the against! I don’t know, I think it’s possible.
What do you think? Vampire Yes or No? I’m going with “maybe”
Which vampire element do you enjoy most about him? I’m torn, but I think it might be the dressing in black. It does look very very good on him.
Which non-vampire element do you enjoy the most about him? Visible aging for me. He was a nice looking young man, but he is just devastating as he gets older
UPDATE: My friend just pointed out I forgot the most important “pro” reason. Strange desire for the neck!
Well, I hope he is – I volunteer my neck so he can bite it!

Plus, it means he can just keep making movies for infinity! Which surely is what we all desire.

😀 … my favourite vampire attribute 😉 in addition he woos the women to bite through dancing…(George Hamilton already showed that this is part of a charming vampire).
I bet, being the prince of Darkness is something he can switch on&off…

Claudia, please share with the rest of us your secret for attaching pictures. What is your trick? Your picture here is one of my favorites because he is simply glowing. Gauri couldn’t say no.

*giggle* … yeah, I bet, a 19 year old inexprerienced vampire with the hots for the back (neck???) of a nice girl could emanate something “glowing”…
Gwen, it’s not a trick…I ask the picture departement of Google for propositions, make a choice by doing a clic on the left part of my mouse, then – when I like the bigger view – I clic on the right part of my mouse going on “show me the picture” (to know the regular dimensions of the pic), then copy-past the Google link into my post here (I always choose a pic with a short links because sometimes there are some with a length you don’t see the beginning when at the end… 🙂 )

Shahrukh in a tux is devastating and I think we are all lining up to have our necks bitten.

I was expecting at least a little moral horror, but no, apparently the possibility of him being an undead monster has no effect on anyone. Although, after sorting through to pick out all those pictures, I kind of don’t care either.

Moral horror? Heck no! Firstly, Shahrukh can do anything and still be the one we are rooting for, al la Don, Darr, Baazigar. Secondly have you seen Dracula with Gary Oldman? His version was so moving, created so much sympathy for the vampire, Shahrukh would romp it in.
He is a master at the perfect mix of menace and irresistible sexuality – he would be a great vampire.

Sorry. The image thing didn’t work, but the link does lead to a nice picture. I saw him live on Broadway in Dracula and then again in the 1979 film.

Frank Langella made a fabulous vampire. I almost rented that last night on Amazon, but in the end was too sleepy. His Dracula, and the movie Sphinx, were, ahem, formational for me. 🙂

Definitely a vampire~but, as you say, with the ability to turn it off at will. Especially so he can age a bit & make us women feel better! Also right in saying he was beautiful as a young man (sometimes, as in one scene in Darr when he was sleeping he was so incredibly, ethereally beautiful it doesn’t seem possible) but that these days he is simply devastating.
Best vampire-ly aspect? Tough to choose~I am torn between the neck obsession & the way he mesmerizes us by wearing all black!

Oh, I like that thought, that he turns off the Vampire aging thing just so he can keep looking incrementally better every year. So considerate!

Did any of you thought he would be a *regular* vampire???!!! Hell, no (or: Heaven, no)! Although I may not experience if he is one of the ‘undying’ ones, I can at least enjoy his capability of growing in seductiveness by being an aging one…thanks to the (good) forces of the Universe 🙂

Margaret, I’m torn between asking you to please stop rummaging around in my subconscious, and asking you to please keep doing that if it results in such fun posts! And the reactions from fellow commenters once again reassure me that I’m at home here. 🙂
This post got me thinking, what “type” of vampire is Shah Rukh? Alternatively, what sort would we most like to see him play. Here are the types I was thinking about yesterday–I’m ignoring teenage angsty vampires a’la Twilight. First there’s the animalistic type–nothing refined or sexy about this type, they smell bad, they hide out in gross smelly places except when feeding, and the type of horror they elicit is of a monster or a zombie. Like Nosferatu, and lesser vampires in Hammer movies and Stephen King stories. Then there’s the Prince of Evil type–ancient, wise, compelling, seductive, and completely amoral. They relish being undead and feel no compunction about feeding on human cattle. The horror they elicit is a combination of moral disgust, animalistic fear of death, and unsettling longing to become such a being. I’m thinking of Dracula, Lestat at the beginning of Ann Rice’s vampire series, or Jerry in Fright Night. Finally, there’s the morally ambiguous vampire–ancient, wise, compelling, seductive, but also compassionate and disgusted that they are unable to overcome their need to kill and feed. They feel ambiguous toward other vampires and sometimes seek solace in human company. They elicit pity as well as horror. I’m thinking Louis and later Lestat in Rice’s vampire series.
Shah Rukh seems to be the last type–he’s endlessly compassionate, and while being such a control freak, so disciplined in his life and work, he just can’t quit his one bad habit and that bothers him. But he’s such a good actor that he could be the Prince of Darkness type and we’d never know! I’d enjoy seeing him playing any of the three types I described, but of course the last two have much more scope for seduction and neck kissing.

Argh. Ambivalent, not ambiguous. Never can keep those two straight!

Absolutely the last type! It would also explain why he has such a hard time letting people become truly close. He feels “other” than them, although he likes humans, they aren’t quite the same as him. To expand, I could believe that he has “turned” Gauri (it would explain how she looks so fabulously gorgeous as she ages as well), thus allowing them to be fully partners. But other people in his life are never quite allowed in.

I like that idea. It adds another dimension to them saying over the years that they grew up together in the first years of their marriage.

And, following the Twilight theory (yes, I read them! Don’t judge me), it would also explain why their children are so gorgeous.

No judgment! They just didn’t work for me. I’ve been going back and forth on whether their kids are vampires. I’m going with no. They found a way to avert the curse for their children, and chose to free them from it. Their ethereal beauty is just good genes and upbringing! 🙂

The kids can decide later if they want to be vampires or not…
I never read any other vampire stories except the original Dracula (which covers only one aspect ot vampirism). But I am open to explore other shores…

I devoured Anne Rice’s Vampire series starting in high school until whenever the last one came out. It starts with Interview with the Vampire, which is fairly restrained, but good. It’s her first novel and I think she was still finding her voice. The series has tons of interesting characters, human and vampire, and takes place all over the world, throughout time from ancient Egypt to modern New Orleans, Los Angeles, and London. They’re not great literature but fun, poignant, and seriously sexy.

I only got to know Anne Price through the Tom Cruise movie…strangely I never was tempted to read her.

As for SRK being a vampire, he is the best Neck Nuzzler, comes naturally to him. I’ve read in the past his favorite body part is the clavicle (collar bone) as you can see his fingers dancing across it in many scenes. I think he maybe has some vampire genes in there somewhere.
Which vampire element do you enjoy most about him?
That neck nuzzling
Which non-vampire element do you enjoy the most about him?
I agree with Margaret; it’s his visible aging. I find him so much more handsome as he gets older,m more debonair, more suave. He was cute in his younger years but his look now is just . . .

Of course Shahrukh is a vampire. One of the White Court Vampires (Incubus) from the Dresden files to be exact. But then they can’t touch anybody who’s in true love for fear of pain.Including their own true love.Hmm does that explain PC rumors?

Please, tell us more of these White Court Vampires. I don’t know about them.

Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files books have 3 vampire courts. The white court vampires being the most sexiest. Thomas Raith, allied with the titular wizard Harry Dresden is the scion of House Raith. He has a tragic love story with Justine originally one of his prey.
According to wiki
The vampires of House Raith feed off people’s emotional energy in the form of lust, usually through sex, and this act can (sometimes) result in death of the hapless mortal.White Court vampirism is hereditary. Thomas states in Blood Rites that his siblings begin to show the cravings during their late teens or early adulthood; once they feed, they are full vampires. However, if they fall in love first, their love will break the curse and they remain human. Love also protects humans from being fed upon.White Court vampires are apparently extremely long-lived.

Thanks, datablue, for the info…I did not know that but strangly, intuitivly, I felt that falling in love with Gauri (completely, possesively, once & for all), made the change…
I see that I probably should catch up on the possibilities already written about…still, there is that conviction in me that he is a kind of his own…and like a prism reflecting our ideas…about vampires & more 🙂

Just jumping in to give a random Dresden Files-Indian film connection. The TV version starred Paul Blackthorne, who played the villain in Lagaan and never met scenery he couldn’t chew.

Considering that I’ve been a fan of the Dresden Files series for the past 10 years, would I give up the chance to recruit new fans? Yes by all means. The books are set in Chicago. But be warned.the first two books are bland and boring. However if you’re only interested only in the ‘sexy’ vampire aspect of the series, Book 3,Grave Peril has Thomas Raith debuting in butterfly wings (and little else) at a vampire fancy dress party. He’s originally introduced as the ne’er do well spoiled younger son of House Raith. However by the 6th book Blood Rites he becomes one of the major characters and the book investigates the deaths at the sets of an adult film .Naturally The White Court vampires naturally run the adult film industry.
By all that’s holy stay away from the TV series. They massacred it.Not even Paul Blackthorne could save it.
I’ll leave you with a Thomas quote.
“I swear to you, by my own stunning good looks and towering ego, that I am not lying to you.”

Procrastinatrix, you are so often the voice, honesty and delicious wording for the rest of us — “Margaret, I’m torn between asking you to please stop rummaging around in my subconscious, and asking you to please keep doing that if it results in such fun posts!”
I want to propose another “type” of Shahrukh vampire. The one we’ve all been assuming but haven’t named – the Loving Vampire. One that doesn’t kill his victims. Google says: “Vampire bats do not kill their prey. They only take about a teaspoon or two of blood at a feeding.”
This Vampire NEEDS to feed and blend his saliva with ever new strains of blood.
His attraction is compelled by exotic scents.
He leaves a distinctive “love mark” on the neck and an invading residue which leaves the victim dreamy, wistful, yearning, inventing memories of his erotic mystique but above all – loving everyone.
This one of a kind Vampire causes every woman to dream of her equal eligibility for a visit, causes women to sleep with necks invitingly bared, propels the perfume industry into unending royal competition and ….

Yep, it fits…only…you may have to replace ‘neck’ by something else… ShahRukh is the first (vampire) one I noticed to look for other ways of seduction…maybe for some, it has to be through their dreams but then, there are those, who responds in a fraction of a second…just a glimpse…it wouldn’t be the neck, it would be the eyes…
