Birthday Celebrations Continue! Twitter Tweets

Happy Shahrukh’s birthday again!!!!!  Press conference going on now, but in the meantime I thought I would do a quick troll through twitter to see what else is out there and cute.

Do you know Amul?  Butter/dairy company in India, that for years has done this cute ad thing where they make cartoon versions of the newest hit film with a pun on “Amul”.  And for Shahrukh’s birthday, they put together a compendium of all their SRK ads.  Well worth watching!

Very recent post from SRKuniverse, the press conference must be about to start, and before that Shahrukh is feeding cake to the media to thank them for coming.

ViralFever, the comedy group he has done a few videos with, put this up:

YoutubeIndia also wished him.  Which seems fair, since about 20% of youtubeIndia is probably powered by him, one way or the other (fanvids, comedy bits making fun of him, interviews, song videos, spoofs, etc.)

Speaking of people powered by SRK, Yash Raj wished him too.

And FilmFare

Shirish Kundar wished him too, which is WEIRD, right?  I mean, setting aside everything else, Farah’s at his birthday party and Shirish wasn’t invited.

Also Sushant  Singh Rajput.  Again, WEIRD!  They barely know each other and he is saying “love you my man”?

Anyway, Amitabh and Salman still not heard from.  Now I am beginning to get worried!  Are there problems I don’t know about?

  1. There are such things as Handys 😉 Maybe some prefered to send textmessages or phone 🙂
Sushant… 😀 (why weird? He could be an ardent fan, too 🙂 )
    Shirish however, I indeed found…interesting…

    • It just seems overly friendly. Feels more like he is presuming a relationship he doesn’t have, then like he is paying appropriate respect to a senior in the industry. I suppose they could have a relationship, but I don’t remember seeing any evidence of it.

Shirish is so strange! I mean, if nothing else, he could have (and should have) sent birthday wishes along with his wife. Why do this public tweet?

      • Sushant and Shah Rukh recently did a show for Farah (Lip Sync Battle?) and Sushant has been a fan forever. I’ve seen him post various selfies with SRK.

        • Okay, that makes me feel a little better. I saw the show, and they didn’t interact that much, so I couldn’t tell what their equation was.

  2. Sushant has said publicly that Shah Rukh is his role model and the person who gave him the inspiration to come into film from the “outside”. He is an adorable gushing fan. Shirish, now that is another matter. They had a public fight and for the last at least 5 years Farah has attended all Shah Rukh events alone. Maybe he’d like to reconcile. Maybe he’s tired of being left at home. Maybe he really does love Farah and wants to love or at least like who she loves….
As you’ve been pointing out something is going on over at the Bachchan house..also his daughter probably conveyed his good wishes when she went to Aligbaug and or he actually called like the old fashioned gentleman he is. Salman is going to go see him tonight at home for sure. I for one am sad your numbered countdown posts are done….I’ve really really enjoyed them. So as AbRam said, “happy birthday, birthday boy” and on to the next.

    • I’ve heard that Amitabh always calls personally everyone. But he also tends to do a public “birthday wishes” tweet, and so does Salman. It’s so kind of “royal”! They give their personal wishes as old friends and co-workers, and then the full formal wishes in the status as fellow leaders of the industry in a public forum. I love it!!!

Oh, I wonder if that’s what is happening, Amitabh doesn’t want to do the formal public wishes until after the private ones? That seems like a very old-fashioned gentlemanly way to do things, wait until he can get him on the phone and not just put something out on twitter. And I am sure you are right, Salman would even prefer to meet in person, and then maybe post a photo of them along with his birthday wishes.

    • Shirish hasn’t been really creatively worked (at least not officially) on a movie…maybe (I strongly think so) Farah wants to do another movie with ShahRukh (money could be also an issue)…HappyNewYear is back about three years… so Shirish might just have wanted to put a reminder of better, friendlier, nicer days when they still worked together.

      • I’m sure you remember this too, but rumor has it that Shirish didn’t work on Happy New Year at all, not even as editor, because Shahrukh still wasn’t comfortable with him. So there is reason to try to make nice, even if he has signed a movie with Farah, Shirish individually has to make nice to get hired as editor.

  3. I just adore BWood!!! It’s like a gigantic colorful noisy & often petty soap opera! Once you get to know the players it’s so much fun to watch them interact.

The ones who are absolute zeroes~like Farah’s little husband. The ones who are mega huge like SRK (no one AS huge despite BO triumphs). The ones in the middle constantly jockeying for position.

In the US film stars are so boring I don’t even recognize them from one film to the next but BWood is simply fascinating!

SRKs birthday for example & who ‘wished him’ and just how they did it. Some using the occasion to put the spotlight on themselves. Or attempting to get his signature (as producer & star)on their next film cuz no one else will finance them. Some expressing genuine sentiment & affection~like SSR.

Clueless critics & press who have been trashing his films for a couple of years, celebrating his ‘overness’ yet still coming out to interview him. Anupama Chopra most notably.

It was quite a circus & I loved watching every minute of it!!! And enjoying the pleasure he gets from the outpouring of genuine love from fans from all around the world.

    • Yes! The comparison I use is western and Indian sweets. Have you ever had Jalabi? It is my favorite, and it is just an overwhelming explosion of sweet in your mouth. But once you get used to that, the regular American cookies and cakes are just flavorless.

I feel the same way about Hollywood versus Indian film gossip/celebrities! Jennifer versus Angelina is nothing next to Rekha versus Jaya.

  4. I know this is an old post and most won’t see it, but I just got around to reading all the comments. I find the Shirish equation fascinating. Shah Rukh and he had a VERY public fight. Shah Rukh slapped him. Apparently he was talking trash I think about RaOne, a sore point with SRK. Shirish is not really friends with the Kjo in crowd that was at Alibaug and for sure he has no relationship with Gauri…who as we all know does all the inviting. I think he is trying to reconcile or maybe they already have. After all, one: Shah Rukh doesn’t like to stay mad at least publically forever, two: it must be hard on Farah and Shah Rukh for sure loves Farah…maybe its just time.

    • It’s a very human thing, isn’t it? Your best friend is married to a guy you just don’t much like, how do you handle it. They must have reached some sort of peace or else Farah and Shahrukh wouldn’t be able to hang out at all, but it doesn’t seem like he really enjoys being with Shirish. And I have to wonder, if Shahrukh weren’t so incredibly powerful and important for Farah’s career, would Shirish be pressuring her not to spend time with him any more? It’s a funny power dynamic, on the one hand a friendship that has lasted decades. And on the other hand, the awareness that he could end her career without even really meaning to if things go wrong. I mean, she tried to work without Shahrukh, and it wasn’t happening, and that was without him warning people away from her or anything, just him not feeling emotionally ready to go out of his way to work with her. She does need his support to have the best professional life she could, and it also seems like she needs his support to have the best personal life she could, and the two are all mixed up.

I’m comparing it with Karan, where there was a similar professional coolness, but it had no effect on Karan’s professional life. Which is maybe good for their relatoinship in the long run? They both know that the professional and personal don’t have to be mixed, Karan can do fine without Shahrukh and vice versa, but they are choosing to mix them.

      • I think I disagree that he holds her professional life in his hands. Just because she made some flops without him, doesn’t mean she can’t make a hit without him. I think its personal. People say he is loyal and she was part and parcel of his earliest films.
