(This is a re-posted post from last year, because I am lazy.) There really aren’t as many connections between Ireland and India as you would expect. They both start with “I”? They are both former British colonies? Their flags are confusingly similar? The both have disputed territories to the north? But what few connections I could remember, I have pulled up and highlighted, on this, the ridiculous made-up unofficial international Ireland celebration day.
First, Ek Tha Tiger! Set in Dublin! The dancing lampposts in this song scare me!
Second, Vivien Leigh! Irish heritage, but born in British India.

Did you know the former head of the Tata Group was Irish? So there is a whole international aspect to the massive board dispute? Cyrus Mistry’s mother was Irish and he has an Irish passport. Anyway, here is Shahrukh shilling his tea.
And finally, apparently Teraa Surroor did a ton of filming in Ireland. Which does not make me actually willing to watch Teraa Surroor, but did at least get me to see the trailer.
And made me re-watch the Pretentious Movie Reviews about Surroor.
There was also the INSANE St. Patrick’s day song from Housefull 3!

That’s an interesting thought! I already write about under appreciated movies, so there’s plenty of posts that would fit in that category. But maybe something like “less famous rom-coms to watch” that just sort of pulls them all together.

Dil Maange More: So-so quality but very endearing, on Netflix
Running Shaadi: I love this rom-com and it was only in theaters for like 4 days, I don’t think anyone else noticed it. Check it out!
Daawat-E-Ishq: I was late to the party on this one, but it is just as wonderful as everyone told me

and Amala’s (Wife of Nagarjuna) mother is from Ireland.
and some how there are numerous Irish Indo (Cross Country) Marriages, and especially from Bengalis.
