    • You are welcome! I will plan to just keep the same post going and update it as new reviews are scheduled.

There will also still be announcement posts going out, just to be extra safe and also give people a little information about the film so they can decide if they want to watch it.

  2. I have a suggestion for Monday Malayalam – Chemmeen.
Classic movie, a lot of people know, and who doesn’t know it will have a reason to watch it (like me, I need a deadline to finally start watching this one)

  3. Can you review the Tamil movie “96”? This is a movie about reminiscing high school romance after 22 years in a reunion. The lead actors are Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan.

    • Maybe. It’s really hard for me to see more than one movie in theaters per week, I made a special effort for CCV and it involved changing my work schedule and getting a dogsitter.

  6. Hello,
Have you stopped reviewing Malayalam movies? If not, I’d like
to read your review of “Poomaram”. It’s the Action Hero Biju director’s next. Got mixed reviews here, but one of the two that got a 4 star rating from B Rangan (the other being Ee Ma Yau). It was also selected for the IFFI.

    • I’m taking a break from Malayalam reviews, they just took up so much time and no one seemed to read them any more. But I’ll pick them up again eventually, thanks for the suggestion!

    • I was gonna watch it on Friday, but the schedule didn’t work out. Yesterday I had already planned Gully Boy with my parents. And today I was gonna get a dog! But I can skip the dog and go see the movie instead. Or get the dog, leave it at my place, and go see the movie.

        • Surprised that so many Malayalam movies made it to the list this time.
Virus was anticipated because read somewhere that Shahrukh Khan liked it, so you’d definitely watch.
Android Kunjappan is a surprise, but understandable… (Helen was perhaps a better choice, also available on Prime)
But how on earth did you choose to watch Allu Ramendran?

          • I felt bad with how few Malayalam movies I saw this year so I am trying to catch up. Virus people have been telling me to watch for ages. Otherwise, I just looked at the most popular options on Einthusan. I had something else picked, and then MKP said I should do Android Kunjappan. And Allu Ramendran was just because it was popular on einthusan and I liked the cast and the story sounded pleasant.

  11. It’s a good idea to catch up with the Malayalam movies at the end of the year. This way you can catch the top films.

Virus is essentially a WCC film. And as a supporter, it’s good that you could finally watch it. See, Parvathy is extremely gifted, she’ll get atleast one movie a year and it will be a BO hit. But it’s been ages since we saw the likes of Revathy, Reema Kallingal, Ramya Nambeeshan in a mainstream movie!

      • Well, she was the producer!

The character she played was like the darling of Kerala. Her letter was widely circulated on social media and all.

When I first heard that Reema was going to play the character of Nurse Lini Puthussery, I was worried if her husband would make the whole movie around her (because it was the most selling Nipah story in Kerala). Besides, they’d earlier collaborated for Rani Padmini, and Reema perhaps got a meatier role than Manju.

So personally I was glad that Reema had a shorter role in Virus 🙂

  13. Please review Kalyug or New Delhi Times, if not for the subject matter, then for superlative Shashi eye candy. Yes, even in New Delhi Times where he is older and shall-we-say with a little bit of the middle-aged spread.

    • After Valentine’s, I am planning to do a Ramesh Sippy week in honor of Shimla Mirch, which will give us a little Shashi eye candy with Shaan. Shashi’s birthday is coming up in March, so if nothing else I can do a week of celebration then.

      • Never saw Shaan. I’ll wait for your review before giving it a watch. It’s probably my age but I prefer the arthouse movies Shashi made over the masala type where the acting is so much more realistic. I keep thinking that he was born ahead of his time. He’d have killed it in today’s Bollywood where there’s so much more variety.

  14. Looking forward to your take on Padayappa! Have had so many discussions and read so much about this inevitable Tamil movie.
Any woman adversary is a lone wolf in Tamil cinema, but the sex-positive woman adversary with agency in Padayappa is a completely different beast with zero representation. They villainized her for being ambitious and asking what she wants; but, they dared to represent her! And also it was the magnum opus of Ramya Krishnan, the absolute veteran of Tamil/Telugu male-centric starrers.
