This should be fun, for those of us who are SRK lovers. Or even not, so long as you have seen at least 2 Shahrukh movies, you can always have a least favorite.
I’ll start! Most of his movies, I enjoy to varying degrees. Some I down right love, some are just fun to watch even if they aren’t great movies (Chamatkar, Dilwali, Duplicate) but there are others I actively avoid rewatching.
Dil To Pagal Hai: It’s just so long! And nothing happens for much of it! And there’s so much spandex!
Asoka: The hair. The dirty mop wig hair. Plus, the plot kind of meanders.
Devdas: Bhansali overload!!!! Too much romance and fantasy, and chandeliers.
Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam: A plot that only works because everyone is very stupid and doesn’t talk to each other.
Jab Tak Hain Jaan: Take the stupid plot problem from above and multiply it by a thousand.
Mohabbatein: Fairly illogical, and also dull. Also, Uday Chopra.
One 2 Ka 4: There are far too many things unexplained at the end, and I also can’t quite forgive Sahhrukh for how mean he is to the kids at some points.
Raees: The ending is too sad! Leaves me feeling just sort of down for days. And also angry.

Definitely Dil To Pagal Hai – I was bored. Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa – I know it is said to be SRK’s favourite but I didn’t really like it and tried but failed to watch it a second time. And Trimurti – I couldn’t watch it all first time round and haven’t tried a second viewing yet.
I’m not doing well in my quest to watch all SRK movies in order…I’m up to Anjaam.

So glad I’m not the only one bored by DTPH!
Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa is a tricky one, it is so light and kind of small in story, it’s almost like scuba diving, you have to go slowly from the regular SRK movie down to it or else you might get the beds.
Trimurti is just terrible. I’ve watched it twice, because I thought maybe the second time it would work better, knowing how it fits together. But no, it is still terrible. With fun bits mixed in and ridiculousness. I don’t hate it, but I don’t like it much.
Oh, and the good news with watching all the films in order, he slowed down a lot as the years went by so you have far fewer to watch as you get towards the end.

Happy New Year – one of the very few movies I couldn’t and don’t want to finish.
Mohabbatein – I only remember it was SO boring

Mohabbatein is SO boring!!!!! SO BORING!!!!! It’s Adi’s most successful commercial hit, and also (by far) his least interesting film. Really interesting to look at it in comparison with Befikre and see his most pandering and least pandering films.
Happy New Year I don’t mind. I don’t like, but I wouldn’t put it on my least favorite list.

JHMS most of it is just those two whining to each other with no real story line, and what was up with Anushka’s stupid accent, I couldn’t even finish it half way through. OSO I found the plot to be very stupid even though it is fun to watch, and I agree with all the ones on your list for the same reasons

I love JHMS, but I can totally understand your complaints as well. IT is a very very odd movie and never should have gotten such a wide release and promotion campaign.
OSO is an odd one because I super enjoy watching it, but there isn’t much to talk about and analyze when I sit down and think about it.

I think DTPH tops the list for me. It just felt so lame in every way. I actually liked Asoka when I first saw it. I’m indifferent to Devdas, didn’t mind JTHJ so much (Weird, I know). I don’t remember the others in the list well enough. Mohabattein was fine though wasn’t the greatest movie.
I actually hated Anjaam. Also Guddu. Ra one (watched it in a theatre too, so much regret). Unpopular opinion: I disliked Veer Zaara on first viewing too. Haven’t watched it since.
Then there’s Raam jaane and O darling ye hai India that gave me a headache.

I think the reason DTPH made my list and not Ram Jaane or the others is that they had fewer resources and ambition. DTPH had that dream cast, loads of time and songs and talent, and then it just sort of ended up old-fashioned and trite.

Great question! I haven’t really gone out of my way to watch Karan Arjun, Guddu, or his non-Deewana one with Divya Bharti. I think the only ones I actively dislike are English Babu Desi Mem, Mohabbatein, and Chaahat. EBDM because of his horrible English accent and irredeemable (to me) actions at the beginning of the movie. Mohabbatein for all the reasons already mentioned, and because I find the smug lover boy to be Shah Rukh’s least interesting persona. Chaahat because it is just too sad, and I think Anupam is emotionally abusive to poor Shah Rukh. Daddy Cool my patootie!
There are a host of his movies I enjoyed but don’t find myself drawn to re-watch. DTPH would fit in there. I think it could be interesting to talk about our least and most favorite scenes–many of his movies which I otherwise enjoy have cringeworthy moments or scenes that I skip or do something else during. You could decide on criteria for “worst” or “best”–personal dislike/reaction, or some more objective criteria, or silly made up criteria.

Oh I love that idea! Especially because you mentioned the other Divya Bharti movie, technically his first film. It’s got a lot of great moments and I was going to recommend it to you, but it also has one scene that I think you would really hate and might ruin the movie for you (Shahrukh slaps the heroine).

Shah Rukh gets away with a lot for me. He slaps Juhi and grabs one of the kids in One 2 Ka 4, but I can excuse it because he both apologizes and does better. Ram Jaane is downright rapey, but we know later it was to drive Juhi into the arms of the guy she actually loves–and of course he does die for his sins.

Then you should check out Dil Aashne Hai! It is totally ridiculous and over the top, and Shahrukh’s part in it is really pretty small. If you watched Thorn Birds, than you may have run across Lace? Anyway, it’s a remake of that.

I’m not sure if it is literal, but it’s pretty close.
I love Dil Aashna Hai with all my heart. It was written and directed by Hema Malini, a tough lady herself. Our heroine is raised in a brothel as a dancing girl, Shahrukh sees her performing at his father’s party and falls in love at first sight and then just sort of trails after her as she tries to untangle her complex past. And then there are 3 older actresses (Dimple Kapadia, Amrita Singh, and someone less famous) plus 3 older actors (Mithun Chakraborty, Jeetendra, and someone less famous) who get to play the potential parents in flashback and present day. And it ends with a big fight scene that hurts my brain to try to untangle. And there are SO MANY bitten lips and sideways glances as guilt rises and secrets are hidden.

Ra.One made me laugh so hard! And I refuse to watch KKHH just from descriptions I’ve seen online. The only KJo film I can tolerate is K3G.

Some day you really should try out KKHH. It’s less ridiculous and over the top than K3G, so the pure style shouldn’t bother you if you could get through K3G. And honestly the tomboy-to-pretty trope does not feel that extreme to me, but then opinions vary.
For you, if you had to watch a Karan movie (and you already tried MNIK and couldn’t get through it), I might suggest SOTY. He is a lot more self-aware in that one and essentially creates a parody version of his own movies. It’s silly and it knows it. ADHM, that one has slightly more mature and complicated character emotions, but you just want to slap some sense into the hero by the end of it. It’s a very accurate depiction of a dramatic romantic 20-something young man who is a wee bit full of his own man-pain. So, think about how much patience you have for those folks in real life and then that will tell you how much you will have for the film version.

KKHH is both beautiful and terrible, but also worth watching for sure.But for a day when you will need something long, and don’t mind unnecesary scenes and characters. Like when you’re sick.

My least favorite Shahrukh Khan movies are completely dependent on whether or not I like his character in the movie and less about the movie itself. So, my least favorite are Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (cannot deal with the woe is me attitude, along with the I will blame all my problems on Preity’s success) and Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam.

I’ve watched all of his movies twice, and the one I will never, ever watch again is Hey Ram. I actually like the Brechtian, stage-y feel of Oh Darling Yeh Hai India, the interesting Hindi version of Madame Bovary (Maya Mensahb), and even Chahaat, a little. At this point, I could probably create a patchwork perfect SRK movie from my favorite scene and songs. It would definitely include the hotel scene from KANK.

That patchwork perfect movie is definitely what a lot of fanvids are. People just want love scenes with Rani and Kajol and maybe Preity, and a very little bit of plot mixed in.

My favorite is happy big brother Shahrukh waiting outside the hospital room and becoming Kaali in Dilwali. the rest of the movie isn’t perfect, but I love that scenee.

I love that scene too. I was thinking of that scene during our discussion of Rajineeti. The moment when he looks up is more thrilling and convincing than anything Ranbir does in his whole movie-long transformation.

I saw it in theaters opening night, one of my best movie going experiences, it was completely sold out and maybe 90% female, and I was there with 5 friends. Anyway, that moment when he looked up got this long building cheer, and it made me realize that the movie had built in time for that, they knew this was the big moment. When you first see Shahrukh, it’s just a quick moment right at the beginning and goes right into dialogue, no time for cheers. But this moment is when they paused and drew it out because they knew the audience would be going wild.

This thread is so much fun, the comments are cracking me up. My entries: Ram Jaane has few redeeming qualities, I think. Bad hair, terrible costumes, toxic love story, questionable morals, martyr ending. Happy New Year makes me mad. I like the beginning, they were having so much fun with the super slow motion in the mud scene, don’t mind watching that part at all. But the dumb boy humor is too much, and I hate how the script and the characters treat Deepika’s character. As soon as she comes in, the whole set up starts to bug me, and it’s not her, it’s the rest of them.
My least favorite so far, though, is definitely One 2 Ka 4. Juhi is the only good thing about that movie. I have a high tolerance for silly action movies, but that one is so much bad. The character is irritating and the violence is out of control gratuitous – the “good” cops spend a good piece of the movie blowing things up and shooting in the middle of crowds of innocent bystanders. So much killing, combined with the precocious children in their matching outfits and the crazy roommate. Just no.
I don’t mind Jab Tak Hai Jaan. The music is good and soldier SRK is hot. I skip most of the parts with Kat, definitely the church stuff. OK, now that I think about it, most of what happens in the London parts is silly and plot-tortured, but the middle part with Anushka is fun. I watched Asoka a month ago with my kids and also didn’t hate it. My smaller son now includes Asoka and Bahubali in his superhero list with Ironman and Hulk and Captain America.

Ram Jaane has so many redeeming qualities! Shahrukh never wears a shirt! He hides a gun under a dancers wig! There is a song called “Pump Up the Bhangra”! Okay, the actual plot is terrible, but everything that isn’t directly plot related is great.
I mostly agree about One 2 Ka 4. It’s maybe my favorite SRK-Juhi romance, until the last half hour that almost ruins everything that came before. And then I never liked the bits that weren’t SRK-Juhi romance, the police stuff never made much sense to me, and the kid stuff made me angry with how horrible Shahrukh was with them. And then the ending is just a mess.

One 2 Ka 4 I think I watched because of your comment that it has good SRK-Juhi, and I did like Juhi but I didn’t especially like the romance because I found his character so uneven and irritating. I like them better in Phir Bi Dil Hai Hindustani, which I saw with no baggage about its fate as a massive flop and which comes so close to being a decent movie.

PBDH is definitely one that suffers from that knee jerk SRK need to please everybody. I like it as well, it’s truly a clever media spoof. But throwing in the romance and the really kind of dark back story along with the surreal comic elements, it’s just not good.

I dislike a lot of his movies. All those movies where he’s a little imperfect. Not going into his earlier movies because those days actors did so many movies. Post DDLJ, I hated PBDH, Hum Tumhare Hain sanam, Ra One. I also didn’t like MNIK very much. I hated his character in DTPH – mainly because I found Madhuri’s character so boring.

Oh wow okay let me think for a moment about that. I usually don’t really dislike anything that Shahrukh is in (cause he most of the time has the ability to saves a movie even if it’s bad) but let’s see..
Dilwale- This is a movie I had really SUPER HIGH expectations for and that sadly just dissapointed me on all kinds of levels. I was so excited to see SRK and Kajol back on screen but Rohit Shetty just being the cause for that made it a very torterous watching-experience. I would rather have KJO or Aditya tackle a love story with them again than seeing their Jodi being portrayed by any other director.
Ra.One- It’s really not as bad as everyone was making it out to be but also not really watchable. The jokes are mostly immature and I really hate Shahrukh’s over-the-top performance.
English Babu, Desi mem- This movie was just bland and bland and bland. I was happy to see him with Sonali Bendre after seeing them flirty in KHNH but the story of this film was just all over the place and too unbelievable in my opinion.
Paehli- I am so sad to put this movie here on the list but it is SO boring, SO slow and just SUCH a waste of outstanding potential! I mean Rani AND Shahrukh AND Amitabh?? What went wrong here?! Even the story could have been a fairytale-masterpiece but the execution makes me just very tired.
Yosh- Seeing Aishwarya and Shahrukh as siblings was indeed a weird experience but even worse is (again) the pacing and execution of this film. I watched this movie two times and fell asleep three times. The only good thing was the beautiful setting of Goa and Shahrukh’s little rap song!
Happy new year- A movie I actually very much enjoyed (esspecially watching it at the cinema was such a cool experience!), what I noticed though is how many problems I have with Shahrukh’s character in the film. He played such a misogynistic, pompous jerk and got rewarded for it by getting with the girl he basically insulted as a “whore” throughout the whole film – No, thanks!
Chennai express- Again, a movie I actually can watch and enjoy for its beautiful cinematography, Deepika’s acting and the music. But the supposed “comedy” in this film as well as Shahrukh’s “man-child” character make it very difficult for me to fully enjoy.
Zero- It only recently came out but I already dislike this film so much. I said it already but I am really not a fan of seeing Shahrukh as a “man-child” (Ranbir’s favorite type of character btw), I just don’t think it “matches” him and it takes me out of the movie when I notice him acting out these kind of roles. But also just the movie overall was kinda bad and VERY much stuffed with too much plot. I liked the songs, the idea of having a Love-Story between two disabled people AND most of all Katrina’s acting! I feel like this is her very own “Cocktail”/”Fashion” moment everyone has waited for so long!

Wow, I’d never put together before that Shahrukh has had a recent string of “man-child” kind of roles. Maybe it is to justify him still doing romances at his age? He has to play delayed maturity in order to explain the delayed romance? But they really need to figure out a better way to do it.

I agree about his character in Happy New Year. It’s fine for driving the revenge/heist plot, but they should have just left off the romance. If Deepika’s character has to end up with someone I’d rather it be Sonu Sood’s character, who really likes and supports her.

I had the same thought when I watched the movie in theaters! Esspecially when the scene came on with Sonu and Deepika on the balcony, they really had so much chemistry!
