Two Important Questions! Sexiest Film of Each Star, and LEAST Sexy Love Scene Ever

I put these questions in the “Wednesday Watching” post earlier, but they were both really good and deserve their own post.  Plus, I think people got distracted and missed them in Wednesday Watching.  So a second chance!

This is a totally subjective question.  For your favorite star(s), what film do you think is the absolute peak of sexiness start to finish?

I’ll start!

Shahrukh, definitely Jab Harry Met Sejal.

Salman, tie between Maine Pyar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Koun

Aamir, tie between Ghulam and Rangeela and Lagaan (boy, he is sexy A LOT!)

Nivin, obviously Ohm Shanti Oshaana

Prithviraj, City of God (the gazing!)

Prabhas, Mirchi (no duh, will anyone argue with that?)

Nagarjuna, Geetanjali

Amitabh, Zanjeer

Anil Kapoor, the 30 seconds when he is dancing with Shefali Shah at the end of Dil Dhadakne Do and NO OTHER TIME

Jackie Shroff, a movie that does not exist in this world

Image result for jackie shroff naked

(NO!)

Now, second question!!!!  What is the LEAST sexy love scene in the history of Indian film?

(is there anything possibly worse than this?)

  1. Okay,I have put a lot of thought into this:

Suriya- Kakka Kakka.God,he’s hot in this.
Fahadh Faazil- 22 Female Kottayam & Banglore Days(the intimate scene with Nazriya is his sexy best)
Prithviraj- Koode,I wanted to just hug him and drown all his sorrows. He deserved a scene like Fahad’s with Parvathy.
Fawad-everythinggggggg but Humsafar tops it because of the hair clip scene.
Rana Daggubatti- Leader. He looks very nerdy and subdued and not that great, but he’s shown as a compassionate, responsible and gentle sexy.
Prabhas- Mirchi song with Anushka,Baahubali bridge scene.
    Madhavan- Alaipayuthey(entire movie,duh I was 17)
Nivin- Premam- the college portions when he gets all jealous of Sai’s cousin.
Vijay Sethupathi-96.He’s supposed to be a virgin at 38 in this and yet so big and manly. You gotta wonder how it will be.
Ranveer Singh- Ladies v/s Ricky Behl .The clubbing scene with Anushka is very hot.I like Deepveer but he had the best chemistry with Anushka in all their movies.
I’m yet to find a peak sexy/romantic movie for Vijay Devarakonda. Mainly because noone of the heroines can match his intensity.

    Least sexy
Angie would kill me but I didn’t find the sexy scenes in RX100 all that sexy.
Didn’t like the scenes in Arjun Reddy also. I kind of got a sibling vibe from the supposed- to-be-passionate lovers cos she was so young.
Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun when they kiss any heroines, which they do a lot.
Jab Tak Hain Jaan -Katrina and SRK scenes.SRK & Anushka was wayyy more interesting.
The sex scene btw Kangana and John Abraham in a gangster movie I can’t remember the name of,where he’s being all aggressive and there is a lot of lip biting. It really sucks cos of Kangana’s over the top acting and one of the worst, explicit scenes.
    I didn’t like Jism also.

In general, when the hero is too overpowering(either because he’s a really good performer & the heroine can’t match up or when he is portrayed as the alpha male who will do everything without the heroine having to do anything),or the director’ s idea of sexy is a lot of skin, tongue and gropping,I hate it.

    • Don’t worry, I’m not angry for #RX100 because you read my mind when it comes to Koode and 96. Especially 96 is so sexy, there is no nudity, no touching but the sexual tension goes through the roof.

      Like

      • Okay, NOW I want to watch 96. All the “brilliantly made character film reflection on life and time passing” stuff didn’t do it, but “sexy through the roof” does.

        • “Brilliantly made character film reflection on life and time passing” would not be the best recommendation for me neither.
But really, do watch 96, it’s one of the best movies this year.

    • Found the John-Kangana scene! It starts out more rapey than sexy, and then it switches to be totally “sexy”, but it still really really isn’t. Terribly directed.

I really want to find the Humsafar hair clip scene now, any guesses on the episode it’s in?

I like your definition of what DOESN’T work. Feels like it’s a problem with the male directors, they can only think of “sexy” in terms of themselves, so they end up making it all about the hero and not about the heroine. Both in that one little scene and when casting, taking somebody who just isn’t up for the role like Katrina instead of someone better.

  2. OMG! Now I have to spend a wonderful weekend watching all the sex I missed. Look out Ricky Behl! My intro to Indian cinema sex (I’ve been used to a lot of suggestion but no actual kissing) was the stable scene in Mirzya. It made me fall in love with Harsh Kapoor. (Fell a little out of love with him in Bhavesh Joshi; hope he brings the magic back.) Prabhas in Mirchi, natch. But I also liked him divesting Tammannah of her garments in Baahubali #1, and the (sort of) kiss on the air-boat in #2. As for negative sexiness, there was a Saifena thing (can’t recall the film’s title) where he carries her up the stairs and they’re naked on a bed, grinding away. It looked too studied to me, not at all hot.(Although Saif has a marvelous back.) I saw part of something with Sunny Leone that turned me off; a lot of tongue slopping but more silly than sexy.I want to give her a chance considering her courage to shed the past and become Lady Bolly. But so far, no dice. Probably because I haven’t been able to watch any of her films all the way through. Wondering if I should bother. Has she gotten any better?

    Like

    • The Saifeena movie is probably Kurbaan. They had this ludicrously long kissing scene, that felt more like they just wanted to challenge the censors than anything (at least to me).

Sunny Leone has never really worked for me either. It feels like she is designed for straight male visual sexiness more than anything else. Not necessarily interacting with anyone or making a man more appealing to a straight woman. I do like her in the “Laila Laila” song in Raees, but that’s more about showing how Shahrukh’s character is failing to react to her in a sexual way. If that makes sense? I find their interaction sexy because he isn’t sexualizing her and that’s sexy in a man.

  3. I’m just going to answer re: Shah Rukh. Shocker! Not that I don’t find other Indian actors sexy, but I haven’t seen a representative selection of many others.

Sexiest movie: beating out JHMS by a hair is Chalte Chalte. Raj is the perfect combo of Alpha, Beta, and Zeta (using your categories) for me. Also, Shah Rukh and Rani are more age appropriate (to me) partners, and their chemistry is so real and constant from their first meeting to the last scene. I also like the more comfortable, everyday kind of sensuality shown in their married life together.

Least sexy love scene: the bedroom scene in Maya Memsaab. I was so disappointed when I finally watched the movie. No connection between the actors–positive or negative–and cowardly/distracting lighting and editing. Now the train scene and the scene where they fight in the street are sexy. 🙂

    Like

    • Well, this requires deep consideration! I think I am keeping JHMS over Chalte Chalte, although I agree the Chalte Chalte scenes (“Neighbor”, first post-coital convo, towel scene) are sexier in many ways. Sexy without tension, which is harder. But Chalte Chalte as a whole has all those scenes where they aren’t in the same place together or other stuff is going on. While JHMS, as a whole, is more sexy straight through. The idea film would be Chalte Chalte style sexy, but sexy the whole time. Like, a couple who are in love and married on an extended honeymoon, so it’s just about the two of them straight through. I’d love to see SRK-Rani in something where they were young and in love, but grew apart and their kids gave them a second honeymoon. Ooo, Bucket List! I want to see them in something like Bucket List. But without all the other plots, just a long-married couple finding each other again.

Agree about the Maya Memsaab sex scene. It feels more like a sports event than something between two people.

      • I am sooooo down with that idea. Have you seen Hope Springs?

I’d love to see them do a Hindi version! I wonder if Saif would play the couples’ counselor, who has a pivotal role and is on screen almost as much as the main couple.

        Like

        • Haven’t seen it, just wiki’d it. I love the idea, I’d just tweak it a little, make them slightly younger and maybe cut the marriage counseling idea altogether. Just feels more fun and Hindi to have it be another reason for them to work through this stuff. Maybe the kids get them a European vacation which was always her dream and he is dragged along reluctantly? Oh! What about something combining the two? Like, a super sincere “reconnect with your spouse” couples retreat combined with European trip? Because Indian couples desperately need this kind of thing, but would be too embarrassed to do it at home, so the company is based in Europe. They ended up with the trip by accident, his secretary bought it for herself and her husband and then discovered her husband was having an affair and he bought it from her to be nice so she wouldn’t waste the money, and then Rani insists on actually doing the trip because she always wanted a European vacation and he hasn’t taken her on vacation in 5 years. But they plan to just ignore the couples part of it, after all their marriage is fine, it’s not like he is having an affair or anything like his secretary’s husband.

At first they are stiff and resist the games and stuff, but then they start to get into them (like, each couple is assigned to pick up the other one at a bar, Shahrukh wants to just fake it and get it over with but Rani is angry and decides to actually pretend like she doesn’t know him, and it ends up super fun, especially when someone else tries to pick up Rani too). And it swings back and forth between happily re-invigorating their marriage with the games, and suddenly fighting about all the things that they’ve been keeping quiet all these years, plus gorgeous European scenery. Oh! And we can have a team, a professional couple’s counselor who leads the activities and the mandatory “check-in” private sessions once a day (their sessions start out formal and resisting, then they start having fun and making up all kinds of crazy drama for their marriage, until they reach a real breaking point and actually need the sessions). Plus a professional tour guide who does the tour part of the trip. And a driver. And we could have a bonus romance between one of those three (maybe the tour guide and driver have been together for years and are not happy together any more and the counselor is in love with the tour guide but hasn’t said anything all these years?). We could have the driver storm off at the end, Shahrukh return happily to his roots as a bus driver back when he had first started his transit company, and the counselor get advice from Rani on how to admit his feelings to the tour guide.

And in this case, maybe Counselor is Rajkummar Rao or Ayushmann, and tour guide is Kriti? Or, if the counselor is Saif, maybe the tour guide is someone elegant and mostly age appropriate like Kareena? I want someone who feels kind of cool and in control, Saif is sensitive and emotionally intelligent and all of that, and is attracted to her calm toughness, but also doesn’t know how to break through it and bring up anything related to feelings.

And happy ending would be a year later, they have used Shahrukh’s transit company to start a lower budget version of the same idea on a bus trip to Goa and other local Indian locals, with skype sessions with Saif from Europe and Shahrukh doing the driving and Rani the game sessions.

            Like

          • I would totally see this movie, only I think you should give the kids a bigger part. Needs more family dimension. Maybe one of the kids is living in the European country they go to visit and the other flies out while the parents are there, and some of the marriage stuff from the sessions comes out and the kids are the ones who make them realize that actually evertything isn’t perfect, there’s something real they have to face up to if they’re going to recover the closeness and connection they once had.

            Liked by 1 person

          • Maybe one of the kids had a very surprising romantic love marriage with a European, they visit them and realize that even in the middle of the fighting and the spit-up and the spilled milk (they have small kids), they are still passionate and stealing kisses and all. So SRK and Rani’s excuse of “life is too much, not everyone can be romantic all the time” doesn’t make sense. And then the other kid is back in India and helps to convince Rani to stand up for herself and insist on going on the trip for once instead of being her usual soft-spoken “it’s all fine, whatever you want dear” self. Let’s say it’s two daughters, the India daughter is a fun exciting advertising exec, unmarried and always traveling. And the other daughter is in Europe with the grandkids. So Rani is all about her dance classes and charity, and Shahrukh is all about work, and they only spend time together when the kids visit and the rest of the time kind of forget each other (in a loving way).

          • I like it. You might have to change Rani’s original reason for wanting to go on the trip, though – finding it hard to imagine loving Indian grandparents who wouldn’t travel regularly to be with their grandchildren.

            Like

          • Maybe the grandkids come to India for the whole summer every year and Shahrukh has been dragging his feet about visiting them in Europe because he hates to travel. Or maybe they lived in India until 6 months ago when the husband got a job back home. Oh! And this could mean that Rani is shy and uncurious about Europe, just wants to see her grandkids. But then she and Shahrukh mutually get more and more interested in the beautiful things they are seeing and experiencing and start to like traveling just for the sake of traveling. Maybe the new annual tradition is visiting the grandkids for two weeks and then two weeks traveling just for themselves.

            Liked by 1 person

          • Oh! Maybe there is a surprisingly-sexy-to-them role reversal moment. Rani is comfortable flying and with passports and all of that. Shahrukh resists letting go and letting her take the lead, but when he does he is surprised to find that he likes it. And Rani definitely likes it, having part of her life where she gets to show Shahrukh how to do something and be the brave strong one. And wise Rajkummar can walk them through it, get them talking about how Shahrukh was first attracted to her because she challenged him and she loved feeling so powerful with him chasing her, but that has gone away as she tries to be a “good” wife and support, and he tries to be a “good” husband and provider.

  4. Haha, great adaptation, and you haven’t seen the original! Do watch it sometime if you have time. It’s so true to long term couple-dom. A bit simplistic in the way that Dear Zindagi was. If not Saif, then Rajkumar would be good. How would Rajkumar be with Parineeti, do you think? She’s fun and living life to the fullest, and he just goes dumb around her despite all his communication skills.

    Like

    • YES! Yes, I love this twist!!! And Parineeti is crushing on the driver who is model-hot and cool and all that, and Rajkummar just sits in the corner and looks at her and is too shy to say anything. But during the day, Parineeti tries to get Rajkummar out of his shell and fusses with his clothes to make him look cooler and defends him to waitresses who are rude, so you know she really is interested even if she doesn’t know it herself. And Rajkummar is the one she goes to at the end of the night when she is a little drunk because deep down she trusts him, and he takes her back to her room and puts her to bed and takes care of her. We could even say that this whole thing is Rajkummar’s idea, he is a brilliant therapist who came up with the concept of the European tour as the best way to breakthrough to couples who would never be willing to do a “real” couple’s retreat. Parineeti defends him to the boss and believes in his vision and all of that, but still crushes on the hot driver instead of the guy who she thinks is brilliant and perfect and wonderful. And then the happy ending can be Shahrukh and Rani hiring Rajkummar and Pari away to run tours for them, all happy in India and away from the stress of working for someone else in Europe.

It would also be interesting because it is the complete opposite of Rani and SRK, they know they love each other and all of that, it’s the other parts of the relationship (the excitement, the risks, the trying something new) that isn’t working.

  5. My sexiest movie picks:

Ranveer: Lootera, probably because the character is not being held up as sexy.

Shahrukh: Raees. I know this is a minority opinion, but he’s just so mature and world-weary.

Aamir: Dangal. I stand by this answer.

Irrfan: Yeh Saali Zindagi. We were discussing him as a romantic hero and I forgot this movie, but he plays one here: a gangster who is completely in love with Chitrangada. I also thought he was pretty sexy in The Namesake, but the movie itself is not sexy.

Abhay Deol: Oye Lucky Lucky Oye

That’s all I can think of now.

    Liked by 1 person

    • Sounds like we have similar ideas about what’s sexy. Raees as a character is hot, and the relationship dynamics between Mahira and him are too. The movie itself is too sad to be sexy overall for me. But why didn’t they leave this deleted scene in?

And if they’d left it in it would have pre-empted a lot of the criticism about confusing timelines and disappearing/re-appearing baby! It also reminded me how much I’m looking forward to seeing Shah Rukh and the sidekick (I have a terrible time remembering that actor’s name though I quite like him) together again in Zero.

  6. My least favorite thing that’s meant to be sexy is pretty much Vinod Khanna in anything, especially this song…also true of Jackie Shroff and Sanjay Dutt in anything. I don’t get this weird fascination with hulking, droopy eyed, pancake faced dudes from the 80s!

All the rain in the world and a pretty and charming actress cannot help how uncomfortable I feel watching this!

My short list for sexiest films by favorite actors, will add more later…

    Arjun Rampal – D-Day
Ranveer Singh – Band Baajaa Baarat surprisingly
    SRK – Chak De India
    Saif – Parineeta
Abhishek – I so wanted it to be Manmarziyaan, but still probably Laaga Chunari Mein Daag – Journey Of A Woman…even Yuva and Naach though the former is a bad dude
    Fawad Khan – ADHM
    Arjun K. – Ishaqzaade
Ranbir – I guess Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani but he hasn’t really done a perfectly sexy movie
Shahid Kapoor – Shaandaar – I love him in this!
Ajay – Singham or Chori Chori – toss up

    Like

    • I just noticed that you had posted another song by him for your least favorite! I swear I didn’t notice before I answered. So, it seems agreed that he is the least sexy actor of all time (that’s meant to be sexy, that is).

More for the list of sexiest films…
Aamir – Weird answer but Dhobi Ghaat…the movie was boring and pretentious, but somehow he was hot in it…seemed kind of similar to his off-screen persona which makes sense since I like him in his rare interviews but generally not in his films
Akshay – probably Baby, but I never really find Akshay sexy…I like him in a very platonic, generic handsome guy way
Salman – Saawariya for sure…for all that I’m not a big fan, I do get his sex appeal
      Hrithik – Agneepath for sure
      Dulquer Salman – Charlie
Prabhas – I agree with everyone that Mirchi is his sexiest role

      Like

      • Aamir: You almost make me want to watch Dhobi Ghat. Almost

Akishay: I find him intermittently attractive. Sometimes just kind of okay handsome, and sometimes really really hot. For me, Jaanwar is his hottest ever

Salman: See, I DON’T get his sex appeal!!! Except in fleeting moments mostly in his younger movies

Hrithik: Oh yeah Agneepath. Or Jodha-Akbar. I’m torn!

Dulquer: I think I might pick Kali over Charlie. Which probably says terrible things about me, but then I already admitted to being an Alpha fan

        Prabhas: Yes, always Mirchi

    • Agree completely on 80s dudes. What WAS that???

Otherwise, I co-sign on most of your choices with a few notable exceptions:

Arjun: D-Day, absolutely. I feel like he may have tied in some other movies, but never gone farther

Ranveer Singh: I might make an argument for Befikre here. It’s like his Band Baaja Baarat character, but more mature, so I feel less like I am robbing the cradle.

SRK: Ooo! Interesting choice! I think Chak De and Dear Zindagi are tied for me in terms of “I am very attracted to this character”, but I still pick JHMS for the tops in terms of “this whole movie is sexy”.

Saif: Really? Even with him wailing away with the bird bath? I think I’m going with Eklavya, because it’s similar to Parineeta but without the bird bath scene.

Abhishek: Hmmm. He definitely had a good era just then. I think I might go with Dhoom? The first one, not the others. Oh! No!!! Sarkar, 100%

Fawad Khan: Yes. But Humsafar over that if we are allowed to count TV shows

      Arjun K: Agree

Ranbir: I’d go with YJHD myself

Shahid Kapoor: Teri Meri Kahaani!!! At least in 2 out of 3 stories

      Ajay: Singham, definitely

      • Yeah, I think SRK in Chak De India is one of the sexiest non-romantic roles in all of film. It’s something about the playing against type, the beard, the intensity, and my undying love of a good sports film.

Saif in Parineeta…I just like how he looks in those period outfits…even with the bird bath scene

Fawad in Humsafar is pretty great, too and there’s so much more to it than his role in ADHM

Shahid…I really need to rewatch that one…it’s not terrible…I think I actually find Shahid sexy in most of his films…even Udta Punjab…he’s always sexy in a different way…in that one it’s the crazy sexy cool thing…in Shaandaar…it’s the suave but sensitive guy…in Jab We Met…the shy but hidden depths guy…in R…Rajkumar it’s the raunchy scoundrel type…in Haider…it’s the tortured brooding hero…he really does have it all

I had to question my Aamir choice myself…went back and watched the scenes and just remembered that I liked the natural salt and pepper look and his very casual clothes…you just don’t see that enough in Hindi films…but then I remembered his character was a little odd…so never mind…a better pick may be Talaash.

Looking at many of my choices, I definitely have a thing for brooding, vaguely threatening, emotionally distant, and alpha heroes for sure

Kali for DQ jumped into my head as well- sometimes an action hero with a vendetta or cause is the perfect formula for sex appeal

        Liked by 1 person

        • Now I have to think of a brooding dangerous emotionally distant Akshay Kumar movie. And I can’t! No wonder you don’t like him, he’s too cheerful and open. Oh wait, Jaanwar!!!! Watch (or rewatch) it sometime and report back to me.
