Another Podcast with Pardesi/Melanie! I Was Very Tired and Babbling

I never listen to these (too agonizing hearing your own voice), but my memory is that I was exhausted and hyper and babbling all at the same time. So be prepared for some word mistakes and general confusing sentences.

    • I’ve said it before, I do not have the skill for promotions. It’s like having an ear for music, it just seems like I will never and can never get better at it, no matter how much I try or try to learn or anything. My tweets are terrible, my post titles are terrible, my topics are terrible, and if I try harder, they just get worse. The actual writing is good, I just can’t get people to read it. And I know for you and other people, it seems like I am being willfully bad at it, or just not trying, or need a helpful nudge and then I will be fine. But really, I try and try and I can’t.

Sorry, I know you are being nice, this is a culmination of years of people giving me advice that I can’t follow and the frustration of it all.

Speaking of my being terrible at promotions, I am going to ask you something that should come off as friendly and easy and instead will be rude and horrible: have you ever passed my info on to people you podcast with? If not, can you? There is no way they will find me otherwise.

        • I’m uncomfortable with it, and I am also just really really bad at it. Blech. I’m sincerely thinking about shutting down the blog, not because the writing is hard for me or I don’t like it, but because it is so depressing watching the lack of referrals from anywhere (twitter, tumblr, quora, Facebook, other websites, podcasts, nothing works. Except folks googling “spoilers”).

Can you also explicitly tell podcasters that they should invite me as a guest? Or suggest that they invite me as a guest? Or give them a link to my blog and tell them to check me out? Again, I am being blunt and rude, but I don’t know how to ask for help in a way that makes people do it besides saying “this! This is the thing that I would appreciate you doing!” And if you’ve already done that and they aren’t interested, that’s fine.
