Dog Photos!

I am in the market for a dog, again, which is of course very sad because it means my previous dog is no longer with me (happened a while back, didn’t want to depress all of you). But on the other hand, dog photos!

I am not really seriously looking, I am just sort of mentally preparing myself to look. And cheering myself up with cute photos. And since this is my “cheer up in rainy weather” posting day, might as well share the cute photos with you!

Is this dog too small? Or would it be like having a permanent puppy?

Allie 2

It’s a dog in pajamas!!!! Like a human!!! My friends point out, I could just get any dog and put it in pajamas. But I don’t think it would have the same thrill as getting one that comes with pajamas.

Or maybe I get a little fluffy dog? Which will grow into a Big Fluffy Dog?

Matilda 1
Everyone at work is in love with this one, but they aren’t the ones who would have to housetrain her.

Little dog!

Matilda 2

I feel like this dog would constantly be nagging me to be more productive with my life and making me feel guilty for just sitting around.

This dog obviously takes a great photo. But she is also 50 pounds and “almost” housebroken. So I think, no.

Bitty- My Adoption Fee is Waived! 1

This is a very delicate looking dog. I might not be sensitive enough for her!

Julie 1

See?

Julie 2

This dog, who has a strong sense of style. Green and blue, very bold.

Lady 4

There’s also a few Shiba Inu’s which are the “hot” dog breed right now. But I don’t know if I am elegant enough for one of them.

Kanna 3

Speaking of overly impressive, I think this dog is secretly an Ageless Warrior, and I would never feel comfortable alone with it.

Aella 1

And then right next to this Magic Warrior dog, we have the most doglike looking dog ever. Very much not a Magic Warrior, and more a scruffy “don’t hurt me”.

Margo 1

As I said, I’m not REALLY looking at any of these dogs (when I am really looking, I’ll go to shelters and adoption fairs, not just browse online). This is just window shopping. Join me in the window shopping! Which dog would you imaginary pick for yourself? Which dog would you imaginary pick for me?

UPDATE: In case you were interested, this post has gotten 5 times as much traffic since it was posted as any other post this week. So I think the voice of the people is clear, I should stop trying to make this a film blog, and just make it a “cute dog photos” blog 🙂 Or at least, I shouldn’t worry about putting up more dog posts whenever I feel like it.

    • That was my feeling as well! But if you are looking at dog photos in a sort of cheer up window shopping way, my goodness do the puppies suck you in! I may have to go to an adoption fair and lie that I am looking for a puppy, just so I can play with one.

  1. I was wondering how Hazel was doing. Very sad for you 😔

The dog in first pic looks just the right size for an apartment and lap cuddles 🙂

    • But so small! Maybe too small? I am prejudiced against small dogs. The dog in the last photo is about as small as I like.

Although, on the other hand, permanent puppy!

This is why photos don’t really work, you have to meet the dog in person and figure out if they feel too small or just right.

  3. So sorry, Margaret! I know it’s hard to talk about these things before you’re ready. The puppies are adorable and when the time comes you will find one who adores you.

    • That’s the nice thing about dogs, they almost always seem to love you. It’s just the other way around that can be difficult.

  4. I’m so sorry about Hazel. I lost my Molly 2 years ago. still not ready for a new dog, Got a rescue cat instead, Ozzie. I’m rather partial to medium sized dogs but don’t want a puppy. I quite like the looks of the last one. Sweet face.

    • The last one does have a nice look, doesn’t she? Unfortunately I would have to drive quite quite far to even meet her, so I will leave her to be adopted by some other nice person.

    • Yes for dog looking dogs!!! Sometimes it seems like shelters/rescue dog websites are steering me towards a breed, like they think I will get all excited about having a dog that looks all pretty like a dog in a reference book. I don’t want that! I want a dog that looks all mixed up and funky, a doggie looking dog.

  5. I guessed that Dog Hazel had left but it is very sad to hear. I know she had a good life while you had her.

I love the last, doglike dog. They look shy but they’d warm up after, and be smart but not too smart.

And do NOT get a shiba inu. I’ve heard they have kind of nightmare personalities.

    • Oh good, I won’t get a shiba inu then. There’s a surprisingly large number of them that pop up when I search for smaller dogs, but they are just so beautiful it doesn’t seem right.

I like the last doglike dog too! The reassuring thing about doing these searches is that they remind me how many good dogs there are out in the world. So when I am ready for another one, whenever that is, I will definitely be able to find one.

  6. I’m so sorry about Dog Hazel. She was a fine dog. As to a new one: I remember how long it took to find her but you did. The last dog looks very much like the dog had growing up so I’m partial to that look. As to the “dog post” traffic: I found you for the Hindi film analysis, please don’t leave. I have not been active on this site because Ive been so sad about the negative response to Zero. While flawed, I thought it was way better than discussed certainly by reviewers. And DO NOT understand the hatred toward JHMS ( not in this forum but elsewhere.) I started watching Hindi film, then TV, then award shows and interviews, then news etc. about or in India. When “real life” got too tough, it was a wonderful world to escape too. It’s seems that it’s gotten so mean and ugly there, it’s no longer an escape. Hence my relative silence.
I love “meeting” all of you and while not an animal lover, I even love the dog stories. So keep it ALL coming.

    • Well, we are entering Romance Week now for Valentine’s Day, so this will be a nice escape-y place to go for a while 🙂 And we always have TGIF posts and fanfic which I keep entirely silly.

If you are looking for something fun and escapist, I recommend Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. It’s not the most groundbreaking or brilliant film, but it is very escapist and happy. Oh, and you have to stick around, because I have another commentator who just moved closer in to the city and I promised her that there was someone who could give her advice on movie theaters and stuff!

  7. pit bull or pit bull mix pit bull or pit bull mix pit bull or pit bull mix…I could go on, but you get the idea. They come in all sizes and there are so many of them that nobody will adopt because of bad press, the bad referring to the press rather than the dog.
I’ve NEVER been without a dog. You and Hazel were lucky to find each other. Glad you are going to honor her memory with another dog. Take your time. She will steer you to the right one.

    • I kind of feel the same! Hazel was such a perfect dog, and was clearly some version of pit bull, it’s made me soft on the breed. If I was in a house with no landlord, there are so many cozy lazy big dogs I could get, but even limiting it down to just 35 pounds and under, there are still a few pitty mixes around.

  8. For some reason I didn’t catch this post in my feed and I didn’t know about the doggy update. Your comment makes a lot more sense now.
I’m glad you feel confident in getting another companion animal ❤ I'm sure your Hazel was very very well loved.
    Big Hugs ❤
