Everyone is Talking At Me At Work! Here is a Post of “Lower Your Blood Pressure” Songs

I’m the customer support supervisor at work, which means I get my own office and a window (oooo!), but also I get to take the really complicated phone calls. And it has not been a good day for phone calls. Or maybe, it has been a good day for phone calls? What I am saying is, I have been on the phone straight through for the past 5 hours and it is beginning to get a bit stressy. I’m supposed to also do a bunch of really urgent work things, and I’d like to actually respond to your comments on the blog, plus personal emails and stuff, but that’s not going to happen today. Also lunch, lunch is not going to happen. I’ve been trying to eat an apple for 5 hours, and I’m still only two bites in.

I also still need to get my windshield wipers fixed, and I was hoping to be able to do it today, but no luck, I’m never going to be able to leave my computer. So a bit stressy about driving home tonight too, hopefully the weather report is right and it won’t start snowing until after I get home. I just really need things that will make me breath deep and go “ahhhhh”. And not throw the phone at my nice window. So, time for a songs post!

This is the song that got me through all my stressy times in college, every time finals week and my campus jobs and everything else got too much. Funny, it’s a song about flashing back to college days, and I started watching it obsessively while in college, and now it makes me flashback to my own college days. “Hoshwalon Ko Khabar Kya”

Weird thing, songs with “Tum Mile” in the title always tend to be soothing. Don’t ask me why! Here’s the title song from the movie of the same name.

Okay, this one is “Tumse Milne”, but it still sounds super pretty and nice and relaxing.

And a “Tumse Milke”!

Normally Shahrukh raises my blood pressure, but this song is nice and soothing both in sound and message. It’s all fine, just relax, tomorrow may or may not come.

Another Shahrukh song that makes all my worries fly away, “Hawayein” (I know I just listed this as a swoony song, but it can be both swoony and soothing, that’s allowed).

Rahman songs are usually so good that they shoot my energy up instead of down. But there are a few outliers in his filmography, like “Tu Hai”

Or “Tere Bina”

And another classic from my college days of stress, “Nahin Samne”. Put me right to sleep every night, even when the dorm room across the hall was having a party.

I could go on and on, but I am going to end with two classics that just have to start to make you immediately feel better. Even though in context they are both super sad. “Chalte Chalte” from Pakeezah.

And “Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh” from Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai.

Phew! Okay, I am feeling better. Now I am going to call the Very Angry Man back from this morning and patiently explain why nothing is working because HE IS DOING EVERYTHING WRONG. But in a nice way.

It must be the season for windshield wiper disasters. Last night, I didn’t realize they were frozen in the snow and ice on the car. When I turned them on, both blades broke off the wiper arms and went flying into the night. Happy ending . . . the nice guy at the auto parts store came outside to view the damage and put on new blades. I didn’t even have to take off my gloves!

    • And there’s another ice fall on Thursday! It almost doesn’t seem worth it to get them fixed before then.

    • So far so good! 3 complicated calls, starting before 9am, but at least they are more cheerful.

And yes, this is a great chill at work and lower your blood pressure song, I might need to add it to my rotation!

      • Based on an earlier song post you did, I created an Alizeh station on Pandora and it feeds me pretty much all mellow songs. Some repetition, I think their Indian music catalog is still not so big and the algorithm isn’t too smart yet, but nice background.

        • Ooo, I forgot about Alizeh! That’s a good “lower your blood pressure” choice.

    • I did eventually manage to finish the apple. And then I got pizza on the way home.
