Saturday Small Talk: Talk Amongst Yourselves While I Renew My Driver’s License

Happy Saturday! I get to spend the morning waiting in line and doing paperwork. I’m honestly a little excited because I have a whole bag of books and I don’t have to feel guilty for reading, because I’m still doing something productive (waiting in line).

While I am happily reading my books and waiting for my number to be called, here are some things for you all to talk about:

Kangana won an online twitter poll (what an honor! A twitter poll!) hosted by the website bollywoodlife.com. They reached out to her and here is the quote from the article:

In fact, we even reached out to Kangana to know if she was surprised on beating Alia Bhatt’s popular performance. To which the diva replied saying, “I am embarrassed…What is there to beat in Gully Boy performance ….same snappy muh phat girl… Bollywood’s idea of a fiery girl, woman empowerment and good acting, spare me this embarrassment, please. Media has taken filmy kids love too far…stop pampering mediocre work or else bar will never be raised.”

I just can’t any more with her. I’ll let you talk about this, if you want. Just to get you started, what do you think about the fact that Kangana gave a quote in response to winning a twitter poll?

Let’s see, what else to talk about? Shahrukh’s first director died, and Shahrukh and Shekhar Kapur tweeted to each other about it. A nice reminder of Shahrukh’s humanity, and also the unexpected connections within the industry, would not have thought that Oscar nominee Shekhar Kapur and Shahrukh’s humble TV producer who discovered him would have had anything in common.

Oh, and Aamir tweeted to, in his usual endearing dorkiest boy at the party who is just grateful to be invited kind of way:

And that’s all I’ve got! Until the new Kalank song drops.

  1. Nothing to do with Kangana or Twitter. I’m just poster-posting while I can. A question: Saw Prabhudeva’s directorial effort last night in Action Jackson. (I’m sure that wasn’t the title in India.) How can a movie with such talent (Sonakshi, Ajay Devgan) turn out so bad? (Oh yeah, I forgot Thugs of Hindustan.) Anyway, Prabhas had a cameo and seeing him made me realize how much I want to see him again. What in heck is happening with Saaho? Last I heard, filming was wrapping up in Bulgaria or somewhere, and it was ready to launch.

    • Keep up the poster-posting! I love your comments, on anything you want to comment about.

I secretly kind of like Action Jackson, because it is so blatantly stupid. Oh, and because the fight scenes are awesome. But it is an odd odd movie, and not a film I would have expected to have such a big name cast, like you said. Maybe we can think of it as a sign of star power? I think Ajay produced or co-produced Action Jackson, and because he was involved, he was able to rope in everyone else. Just like Aamir with Thugs.

I share your confusion about Saaho! Everyone in the cast is moving on too, except Prabhas. Shraddha has a bunch of films and Saaho isn’t even mentioned as part of her filming schedule. It kind of feels like Robot 2.0 where the CGI was crazy delayed, so it didn’t release until 2 years after filming, but in that case only the director was still working on it, the star had moved on to other roles. What the heck is Prabhas doing if it is just CGI? Or are there a ton of scenes were it is just Prabhas and a bunch of green screen?
