No actress opinion? Although to be fair, I think all three of them have only been in one or two movies at this point.

Had to do a little extra research and I am going with Kiara Advani

Oh good, I like her! She was the best part of the Dhoni biopic and a Telugu movie I HATED, I want her to have good things and be in a movie I can actually enjoy straight through.

I suck at predicting the future, so no votes on the next big things! Also, I haven’t seen enough of the movies with AR Rahman soundtracks to judge. I hated Rockstar with the fire of 1,000 suns so I didn’t pay much attention to the music. And I’m kind of scared to see Highway.

I also suck at predicting the future! I was hoping I could cheat and crowdsource my predictions with this post, but you are foiling my plans. See also, opinions on music.

I *adore* Ayushmann Khurrana for completely inexplicable reasons. He’s just adorable. I’ve been trying to love Kriti, but it’s not happening for me. Maybe I’m too old?? A.R. Rahman … choose? What do you mean by ‘choose’???

Kriti I was okay with in Dilwale and then loved in Bareilly, and her character didn’t have a lot to do in her newest film. I keep waiting for her to have the role that confirms for sure if she is talented or just charming.

Rockstar definitely (best thing about the movie by a long shot)
Tbh I already feel like Rajkummar is already big in the sense that he seems to be widely discussed (at least from the stuff I’ve ran into and rightfully so) so I’m going to say Ayushmann who I feel like isn’t as widely talked about despite having a number of successful films within the past two years (though I do think that Andhadhun and Badhaai Ho are changing that a bit)
90% sure that Sara is going to be quite a star

Rockstar is amazing, such different genres in the songs, Kun Faya Kun in the same movie as Sadda Haq.
Yaaay, love for Ayushmann! I feel like he needs it.
I’m 90% sure Sara is going to be quite a star too! But I’m pretty optimistic about Kiara too, and Kriti if she ever gets a role as good as Bareilly again.

Lord knows I am the opposite of an expert on Tamil things, but isn’t Dhanush a big thing already? He’s like the only Tamil actor I know by face AND name. I’m going to go with Rajkummar for big Hindi thing. I think he’s got more versatility than Ayushmann, whom I also like a lot. (And unfortunately SSR seems to pop up in the gossip columns a lot–he may have some personal issues, although I certainly hope this is not the case).
I like all the new actresses although I haven’t seen a lot of any of them and haven’t seen Sara at all, but I’m going to go with Taapsee.

Dhanush is a big thing, but Kamal and Rajinikanth are both entering politics which means there will be room at the tippy tippy top all of a sudden. Could Rajinikanth hand his crown down to his son-in-law?
I feel like Rajkummar is on a good track too, but I want him to get there already! He’s got Mental Hai Kya coming, yet another weird low budget movie, and then a weird comedy from Gujurati director, and then yet another Hansel Mehta film. Where are his big fun rom-coms and action movies????

Vijay and Ajith have already taken Rajini and Kamal’s places few years ago. Kamal & Rajini’s places are there only as honorary. Just like Mahesh, NTR, Prabhas, PK generation replaced Chiranjeevi-Balakrishna-Nagarjuna-Venkatesh in Telugu.

After Vijay-Ajith, do you think Dhanush-Vijay or someone else?

Dhanush is already in the top 10, but don’t think he’d become #1. Vijay Sethupati is more of an all-rounder like Navazuddin/Irfan – don’t think he could be a crowd pulling star as in the range of Dhanush, Vijay, Ajith, Vikram, Mahesh, Prabhas, etc.
I hardly see any newcomer in Tamil, who could shake the box-office and become a crazy (say like Vijay Devarakonda or Nani). Probably Vikram’s son might do.

I didn’t do the same question for Telugu partly because I SO WANT Nani to be the next big thing and I didn’t want to jinx it by talking about it too loudly.

Haha! Nani already got a bad 2018 – Devadas & Krisharjuna Yuddham were flops, earlier MCA was also average – all routine Telugu masala movies and not a different kind Nani is associated with. Then, BigBoss 2 Telugu he hosted was a big flop and he had to face lot of flak. Glad to see him comeback good with Jersey.

I’m not sure if Vikram’s son can do this. After all this drama with his version of Arjun Reddy (and the fact he needed a remake as his debut) I don’t think he is that talented, but we will see, when and if they ever finish this film.
In my opinion Kathir can be the next big thing. He is amazing actor, and also very handsome. I have my fingers crossed for him.

My votes:
ARR – Rockstar and VTV
Next Big Thing – Sushant, Tapsee and Vikram’s son debuting Arjun Reddy remake

This is fun! Okay, here goes. Song: Raanjhanaa because I so much want to like Dhanush but am not there yet. Hindi actor: Rajkumar. Tamil: Vijay Sethupathi. I just saw him in a film that I only watched because I adore Arya. Vijay stole it right out from under him. Can’t recall the name. It had a great cast but wasn’t good except for Vijay. Actress: Sara Ali Khan, hands down.

Oh oh! Watch Vikram-Vedha! Or maybe not? How do you feel about police dramas? It’s kind of a Heat type thing, criminal and cop moving around each other and ultimately kind of becoming friends, with Vijay playing the criminal and Madhavan playing the cop. Madhavan is dead sexy, so it has that going for it.
I really hope Sara lives up to her promise. I think it all comes down to her Imtiaz Ali movie. She’s got Coolie No. 2 lined up as well, that should show her comedy chops, but she already kind of has a place in light fun movies. If she can manage the Imtiaz movie it will show she can handle serious as well.

This is the second time you recommended Vikram Vedha to me. I found it on YouTube but no subs. Got thru about 10 mins and liked what I saw but too frustrated and in the dark to continue. Any links I can try?

I think you may have to bite the bullet and pay for it on youtube. The pay videos almost always have subtitles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqyzicScoAg
