Vital Question: Which is the Sexiest Shahrukh Song?

I suspect some of you will have STRONG OPINIONS on this question. I also feel like maybe I have done this post before? Or something similar? Anyway, it is a vital question that deserves constant revisiting and revising. And since tastes differ, it is also a question that should spark some interesting and enlightening discussion!

Don’t feel the need to limit yourself to only these options. But going through the SRK filmography in chronological order, these are the songs that immediately occur to me.

The first truly sexy sex song, “Kehti Hai Dil Ki Lagi” from Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman. He buys Juhi a sexy dress, she puts it on, he is over come, they are both over come, it gets sexy.

Different feel, a fun roll in the hay with Kajol in “Jaati Hoon Main” from Karan Arjun

My personal pick for “Most Sexy”, “Ab Hain Neend Kise” where if he and Raveena don’t have sex, they will DIE.

“Daddy Se Poochh Lena” from Guddu. Kind of an odd one, Manisha and Shahrukh are mostly wholesome and goofing, but keep getting overcome by Needs and then having to pull themselves back from the brink.

I’m calling this a song! Feel free to dispute. the “Dance in the Rain” from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

For those of you who love SRK-Juhi, there’s “Sona Nahi” from One 2 Ka 4. Shahrukh does look really hot in it.

And “Roshni Se” from Asoka. I can’t stand Asoka, but if you like it, here it is.

I don’t love this song either, but I sure like it better than stupid Asoka! “Suraj Hua Maddham”

Now this one, I have no interest in the movie, but BOY the song is good! “Ishq Kameena”

Good movie, good song, great towel scene, “Tauba Tumhare” from Chalte Chalte

So-so movie, GREAT song, “Main Yahaan Hoon” from Veer-Zaara.

Great movie, Great song. I only wish it had more romance and less plumbing. “Dekha Na Zara Dekho Na” from Swades.

Good movie, good song, and thank you to the Germans for giving us the full version with the rain bit, “Dheere Jalna”

I don’t care if you don’t think this is sexy, I do! He’s feminist, he’s wearing a windbreaker and a sport shirt, he has a whistle, it’s GREAT! “Chak De India”

Yeah yeah, I’ll include it. Also, wow! Shahrukh in this era was really all about the objectification versus the interaction in his sexiness. “Dard-E-Disco”

Speaking of objectification, the tuxedo! The undone bow tie! It’s so good. “Chammak Challo”

Personally, I find this the anti-sexy. But in case your tastes run that way, here is “Saans”

Now, this is a nice mix of objectification and interaction, we see Shahrukh’s bare chest, we also see Shahrukh smile at Dips, it’s all good. “Manwa Laage”

Maybe it’s just me, but I find this song very sexy. “Janam Janam”

This is ridiculous and not supposed to be sexy at all, but OMG Shahrukh in this movie!!!! “Love You Zindagi”

Of course, this is very much supposed to be sexy. And it is. “Hawayein”

Also this. “Yaadon Main”

Okay, which is sexiest for you????

  1. I can’t choose! Rani and he have the hottest chemistry for me, so I’ll say Dheere Jalna (thank you, Germans, for the combo version) because it’s all about anticipation, and Taubha Tumhare because it’s about make-up sex. Yay!

So many other sexy songs though. In addition to the Juhi and Kajol ones you have listed here (NOT Karun Arjun), there is the fountain one from ODYHI which I just posted in comments somewhere last week, the song with Aish from Devdas where they are by the lake (intercut with Kirron singing, which defuses the tension somewhat because you know those mean ladies are laughing at K), Zaalima (expecially the version released pre-movie with the extra bath scene). I also enjoy the opening credits of JHMS with Safar playing, when we see all the ways Harry is the anti-Shah Rukh–in a sexy way, of course. Except for the sensitivity, sadness, and isolation. Sigh.

    • I don’t know why anyone even bothers with Dheere Jalna without the female part! It’s the best bit.

I love the sound of Zaalima, it’s that kind of happy fun sexy that we don’t get often. And I considered using Safar and thent hought “no, that’s silly, it’s only sexy because it is Shahrukh in a suit, that’s not really sexy”

    • Are we the same person? I love him and Rani together. She’s roundy and has that voice. Dheere Jalna was the best from Paheli for sure.
Tujh Meiin Rab Dikhta Hai is up there for me from Rab Ne Nana. The second part where she is watching him at the temple is especially sweet and squinchy.
From KG3 I love Suraj Hua Maddham for the bangle scene that precedes it. (The see-through shirts/nipple exposure thing makes every feel me uncomfortably voyeuristic. I MUCH prefer Dard-E-Disco where he’s the item boy and I *have* to watch because I’m helping make up for all those female item songs. 🤗😉)
Also, Yeh Ladka Hai Allah is hot ‘cause SRK rocks the pathani/kurta so nicely. (And in JHMS, the dastaar he wears in Raula.😋)
Ooohhh … Zaara Dil Ko Thaam Lo from Don 2 and Marjani from Billu (he just looks so happy when he’s dancing, doesn’t he?)
Also, not the Katrina part, but the part where sings the hai, ah ah – it’s at 3:26 in the music video. He totally had me at ’hai’!
I can’t pick just one! It would be unfair to all the others!

  2. This is like asking a mother to choose between her children. Each one has its merits and its moment. I watch all of them as needed. You are right that Saans is the weakest of the three. (I will elaborate in the Kissing comments) But thank you for putting all of these in one place….

    • I must be a terrible mother, because I can absolutely choose! That Raveena song,t hat’s it, that’s the sexiest EVER. Not the sexiest Shahrukh has ever been (that’s probably Chak De or something), but the song as a whole, that’s the sexiest. All the other songs can take a step back.

  3. I can’t choose any of those early movies because 20 years later, the productions look kind of cheap and tacky so it takes away the sexiness. SRK is also what I’d consider cute in those days, not sexy. It looks awkward that this cute boy is doing this sexy stuff. Feels weird. Don’t really like it.

Would not be able to choose any movie where he has a mustache either. Yuck!

I guess the first time SRK was really sexy was in that KKHH gazebo sequence when he is already in his 30s.. but even then only when in those particular situations. Still tilts more towards cute in the rest of the movie.

Love the Asoka song but hard to stay in the element when his hair is too contemporary for a historical.

The Chalte Chalte song I’m iffy about because I find only SRK sexy in it. I know Rani is supposed to be and is presented that way but I just don’t see it. Mismatch. Never liked their pairing so I’m biased. This is one of those pairs that I know has chemistry but I still don’t like.

Hate Dard-e-disco. Most unsexy song ever. SRK looks like he’s starving and I just want to feed him. It was brilliant in terms of the movie but when you take it out of context, it’s such a WTF song.

Chamak Challo is great but in a comical way, not sexy way. English lyrics always make me laugh anyway. But the tux is really really nice. Nobody wears formal clothes better than SRK.

Manwa Lage is super-sexy. SRK’s body looks a lot better than whatever starvation he was experiencing in dard-e-disco. But still not my favorite because this is one of those songs where you know that he knows he’s really sexy. This is “I’m so sexy I know that every woman loves me.” Sexy but still I’ll pass.

Janam Janam is nice and I’m starting to see a pattern here. SRK is always more objectified in his movies than the actresses are. That must make the actresses happy for once. He’s in a transparent wet white shirt and she’s fully covered in black.

For Dear Zindagi, I prefer this song even though it’s just a promo but it’s so soulful and the more unaware sexy SRK that I prefer over the Happy New Year or Dilwale SRK which is “I’m so hot and you know I’m so hot and I know I’m so hot.” It’s true but still…

But in the end, I’ll go for the KKHH gazebo amongst the classics. Suraj Hua Madham is a little too cheesy and overproduced compared to the former. And amongst the newer stuff, JHMS – all of it, no matter what song or scene – silently broodingly sexy but not a showoff type of sexy.

There. I’ve really thought this through!

    • Jumping off your description of “I’m so hot and you know I’m so hot and I know I’m so hot”, I would say JHMS is more “I know I am sexy but I don’t care”.

      • Hmm.. but he does go to the gym and then buy those tight shirts so he must care a little. 😉 But still more of a subtle sexy and than what we see in a lot of movies.

        • In my mind, Harry goes to the gym because the endorphins from exercise give him a brief happiness, and the shirts are because for some reason baggy clothes are less comfortable for him. He has no idea this also makes him super attractive.

          Liked by 1 person

          • Are shirts like those available off the rank? They fit him so well they have to be bespoke. How about he is just finding useless things to waste his money because he so doesn’t care about life?

            Like

          • That works, bespoke shirts and expensive sports car rentals. And probably expensive hair cuts and hair products too. Not because he cares, but because he just doesn’t care so much.

  4. The obviously sexy ones are obviously sexy. But I find SRK at his sexiest in the songs where he doesn’t necessarily make love. He was sooo hot in Chak De, and in my all-time fave, Janaam. The way he looks at Kajol in the rain, fixes her car and hands her back her keys. It’s says so much about them, much more than the overdone Gerua.

And I LIKE Asoka. Except for when Shah Rukh leaves his kingdom and cuts his hair. Then he’s all of a sudden a modern Mumbai guy with a sword.

    • The remix version is even better. Just a bearded SRK walking around. So so sexy.

They had released a terrible song with the girls introducing themselves before this. It was so bad that it became a laughingstock. They were afraid the movie would tank because of how poorly that video had gone over so they quickly filmed and released this Sexy SRK Walks Around video to bring the buzz back.

      • I have this version on a song DVD and I’m so glad because it disappears from YouTube sometimes. Shah Rukh in the red sweatshirt, jeans, and tennies in this video is the absolute peak sexy Shah Rukh for me. The platonic ideal Shah Rukh. 🙂

  5. It seems that I have three ways to look at the sexiness in ShahRukh’s songs:

    1. the songs done to portray physical desire (like in Zamaana Dewaana or generally)
    2. the songs done to portray ShahRukh’s physicality (in a kind of item/stand alone song like in Ishq Kamina or Dard-E-Disco or Kaal Dhamaal or even Morya Re)
3.the songs where his physicality has either a playful touch (like in Chayia Chayia or Criminal) or simply is part of the character (like in Koyla or Raj in RNBDJ or his Don-character, G.One, JTHJ’ bearded Samar, Dilwale’s older Raj, Fan, Raees, DZ, JHMS, Zero)

I can enjoy 1. and 2. but I feel his sexiness in 3. and to that belong even songs like Raftaarein or Tanha Hua or Khaike Paan or Sanson Ke Mala… I find him the most sexy in songs which involve a love interest when he’s not the ‘guiding force’ but the one to be guided (through his affection) and the woman seems to be the ‘stronger’ one.

I would not be able to decide of the “sexiest” song, but i.e. watching Dil Se Re (with his look to Meghna at the beginning) has still the same effect on me than when I watched the movie 13 years ago.

    • Interesting point about the songs where his physicality is a portrayal of the character he is playing, not it’s own thing. Did I include Haule Haule? I thought about it, because the character is so sweet that I find his personality sexy in that.

  6. KKHH romantic scene technicaly is not a song, but since you included it, I choose it as the sexiest. Mainly because this one short scene is so sexy it elevates all long movie. I can’t imagine the movie without it.
Second place – Zamaana Deewana song.
Third – Suraj Hua Madham. It was my first romantic/sexy hindi indian song and it gave me so many things I didn’t know I needed.

Roshni Se, Main Yahaan Hoon, Dheere Jalna have been my favourites songs for years, but I consider them more romantic than sexy.

  7. AGGHHHH How can I choose!!

Well first, I think some of his sexiest songs are some that aren’t necessarliy “sexy” per se. Like, the screen shot you have on your site from Yeh Ladki Hai Allah. Look at that mischeivous grin and tell me that’s not sexy. Or Maahi Ve. I recognize that since this was my first intro to Indian film I’m probably biased but it was also my first intro to SRK and we see how that’s turned out. 😉 I feel like Chak De! India falls into this for me, too. Not “traditionally” sexy but I think you summed up why it’s sexy.

But if we’re going traditional sexy: I loooooove Suraj Hua Maddham. In a way bordering on absurd. I mean the song is fine, but the video…. Phew!

I also love Dheere Jalna and Chamak Challo. And I submit: Bairi Piya

I know, Devdas is a contentious topic here (haha) but I just think he’s so sexy here. Same goes for Morey Piya.

    • My problem with Suraj Hua Madham is the shirts. Why did Karan think see through pastel shirts would be sexy? They’re not! The interaction between them, definitely, but then his costuming takes me right out of it.

Oh, unless they are making him wear traditional clothes, in which case, he looks fabulous and sexy, as Catherine says up above. I look forward to Shah Rukh walking in Manish’s fashion shows, because he always looks amaze-balls.

  8. Why oh why did Karan always put him in those awful suits that look like North Korea was in charge of costuming. I was soooo glad he finally got out of the overwhelmingly wide suits that made him look like he was playing dress up in Daddy’s North Korean Dictator uniforms. And beige. Who the hell looks good in that nauseas ping/tan color he had to wear in Suraj??
The see-through shirts are another issue entirely! Karan always says he sees SRK as an older brother, and that may be true now, but you don’t dress the guy in sheer clothing and get him wet and roll him around in the sand and spray-paint on all his other shirts ‘cause you’re feeling platonic. Ah’m just sayin’.

  9. A little late here… but I had to comment!! It is such a difficult choice.. he looks good, period. But when it comes to sexy SRK.. I think his sexiness comes more from the way “he” looks at the other *thing* (either his heroine, camera or even a tree)… more than just himself. For example:

    (1) KKHH Gazebo Scene. Very sexy! I remember I could never watch it when I was a kid.. always ran away when I knew it was coming! Everytime.. LOL. The way he was looking at Kajol.. there was newly discovered love.. old and known comfort.. then the hotness elements. So yeah.. SEXY!

    (2) Suraj Hua Madham. Sexy! Everything about them–the new love.. a new relationship.. its a love song. And the way he looks at her.. you almost feel the new love.

    (3) Chak De India Remix. VERY sexy! A man’s undying love for his country and his need to prove it. The way he looks at the Indian flag in the scene before the final match.. longing, love and a thirst to prove himself. So sexy!

    (4) Dear Zindagi. Intro Scene? The way he is talking to that audience.. In my opinion.. that is just normal SRK romancing the audience.

    (5) Hawayein. Ufff… So sexy!! Brooding SRK! The way he looks at Anushka in some of the shots is so sexy. I see wonder there.. and there is just a beautiful sense of awareness and disbelief.. that he portrays throughout where he knows what he is feeling but does not quite believe that he is actually feeling all of it and that its all happening.

Also.. I hate the fast edits in the last bits.. want more of the song!!

I could probably go on forever. And also.. Aryan Khanna’s “nasty” in the arrest scene IS sexy!! And sooo much like the sexy SRK of Don! Uncashed.. knows he is powerful and is not afraid of anything.

  10. Omg this list is really wonderful! It’s as if you’ve seen into my head and thrown all or most of my favourite sexy Shahrukh songs together! I usually wouldn’t add anything else but I remembered a few other songs you and others might enjoy as well where I personally found Shahrukh also very attractive..

1.) ”Laila Main Laila” from Raees
(I have to say that I also have to sign up for the ‘we-love-srk-with-a-beard’ fan club cause umff.. Like he overall radiates all kinds of evil- but at the same time natural sexiness in this movie but this particular song makes me weak. Like the dominance and arrogance he exuberates.. ART HAI ARTTT!!)

2.) ”Udi Udi Jaye” (also) from Raees
(I am also going to add this song cause the scene when he enters Mahiras bedroom and stares at her with so much intensity literally made my heart stop. But anyways, the scene overall, with her dancing with the curtains flying around her in slow-mow, really reminded me of that moment in ‘Devdas’ where Paro was trying to kill a fly while Devdas came into her room to look for her)

3.) ”Jiya Jale” from Dil Se

(I feel like no one actually really likes this movie but I find it so passionate and brutal, which makes it hard for me not to love it. Shahrukh is so obsessive in his ‘persuasion’ of Manisha that it borders on the lines of psychotic and stalkerish but I still enjoyed watching them together. Also this song.. Its obviously about sex and the chemistry between him and Preity, as well as his wild, south-indian-traditional dancing just made it for me. Very animalistic and masculine wow!)

    4.) ”Aankhein Khuli” from Mohabbatein

(I know this is an odd choice as if this song mostly about the youngsters showing off their skills in dancing and romancing but I love how SRK is still the focus of the scene. Theres so much fun and energy to his dancing as if hes pouring all his love for Aishwarya into the dance but yeah his energy and glasses are super adorable like when is your next lesson on love Mister Khan?)

5.) ”Pretty Woman” from Kal ho naa ho

(Someone already mentioned ”Maahi ve” and talked about how sexy Shahrukh’s playful/energetic side is as well, which I totally agree on! I love how he literally romances but at the same time terrorizes the whole neighbourhood. And yeah his orange pants are hideous but.. just focus on his pretty face okay haha)

6.) ”It’s the time to disco” from (also) Kal ho naa ho

(I think this was the first time in my life that I’ve ever seen Shahrukh really ever being portrayed as a womanizer and it made me blush and look away. Like I couldn’t watch for the longest of times the scene where hes surrounded by this half-naked harem of girls infront my parents lol But now I am grown up and feel like Preity watching it: Its kinda disgusting but also kind of hot)

    7.) ”Kaal Dhamaal” from Kaal

(The movie is laughable but Shahrukh looks delectable in this song even though I wasn’t a fan of most of his outfits here! But that scene under the waterfall? Uhm yess ma’m!)

8.) ”Jiya re” from Jab tak hain Jaan

(Yess a comeback from bearded-Shahrukh cause omg literally everything is 10x sexier if Shahrukh is in it AND has a beard! I rewatched the movie a few days ago and I have to say that Shahrukh as a brooding, lonely, snarky guy and with crazy-bubbly, young Anushka at his side gave me a major JHMS vibe! Anyways, this song is awesome on its own but Anushkas energy and Shahrukhs ‘cool-dude’ facade finally coming down, makes it even better! Also, even though this song isn’t supposed to be sexy, I still find it much better than ”Saans”, which was just a bore to me honestly like I literally ate cornflakes and scrolled through Instagram instead of watching the video)

9.) ”Tumse Milke Dilka Jo Haal” from Main hoon na

(Now another comeback from Soldier-Shahrukh! I think he has this playfull-flirty-side in this song again. I also love how he literally melts as soon as his teacher-crush enters the picture and the song overall is just LOVE)

10.) ”Kuch kuch hota hai” from Kuch kuch hota hai

(This movie is not only one of my faves but I also think Shahrukh was such an adorable, little jerk in it! I totally fell in love with him when he let his ‘fuckboy act’ drop as soon as Tina saw him infront of the tempel like awww Anyways, Shahrukh is romancing HARDCORE in this song and I feel it all and it makes me so super duper nostalgic *sigh*.. Oh and am I actually the only one that liked him and Tina together?! Like I loved him and Anjali too but Tina was kind of always my favourite character ups)

Okay sorry! So that was my list (in no particular order) with sexy songs I would also have add your list but as I already said, I mostly thought that your choice was pretty accurate. I think I am also (a member of the SRK-beard fanclub) that prefers when Shahrukh isn’t putting on the ”sexiness” too thick. He seems the most attractive to me if hes just acting natural, not really aware of his charm. But I can also enjoy him in things like ”Manwa Laage”, ”Ishq Kameena” or ”Tauba Tumhare” where the focus is more put on the sexiness/attractiveness of the actors (because how could you not) 😉

      • Haha yes! I love how we mostly can all agree on that the song was a total miss. It also made it seem as if the relationship between SRK and Katrina was only based on list – what a waste of an actually not-so-bad song!
