Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me the Week After Blinded by the Light Came Out?

Happy Monday! I had to come in to work 2 hours early today, and I was up way too late last night writing the Blinded by the Light reviews, so I an wiped. Do not expect coherent answers necessarily, but I will try my best.

This is where you can ask me any question all week, just keep swinging back to this post any time you have anything to add about anything and I will keep responding!

And I’ve got a simple question for you, I just finished two theme weeks and I had a lot of fun with them (women directors and NRI movies). What theme week would you like to see next?

Is there a particular director you want me to dig into? A genre? An era? A topic?

  1. Back here after four weeks, I think. Considering that it is back to school time, an interesting topic would be to look at films with a school background as different from colleges. Or a subset of the same – school romances. Thaneer mathan dinangal has got good reviews.

  2. One idea for a theme inspired from recent events – Kashmir in Film…how movies have contributed to the problematic image Indians have of Kashmir. If you don’t want to go down that heavy road then how about Rakhi inspiration – movies that explore brother-sister relationships.

  3. Mission Mangal time : Space or Sci-Fi movies – separately or a single series for both if there aren’t many
Space – Tik Tik Tik, Antariksham, etc. Is SRK still doing Rakesh Sharma’s biopi?
    Sci-Fi – Robo, Ra.1, Koi Mil Gaya, Mr.India, etc.

    • That’s an interesting idea! I was thinking maybe something related to the ramp up to Saaho, but that also looks like it will be a little futuristic.

  4. What do you think, are there any chances Saaho will arrive in Italy? I mean not hidden in some obscure cinemas with ridiculous timings, but e.g like Thugs of hindustan in big cinema in the city. The movie costed so much, wikipedia says even more than TOH.
And do you think it will have big number of screens outside India?

    • I am wondering the same thing about theaters around me! I really want to go to a Thursday show, but it depends on where it is playing on Thursday. I’m hopeful for maybe the theater that got Bahubali which is 5 minutes from my office, but I don’t know.

With the release date moved semi-last minute and all the other changes, it makes me nervous that, even if more distributors wanted the film, the producers weren’t organized enough to make it happen.

In honor of Dog Albie, how about a post on “pets in South Asian film.” As far as I can remember, there are none. Although, I do remember one that starts with a funeral for a cat.

  6. If pigeons count so also the roosters. There is this tamil movie with Sara Arjun (from Annmariya Kalippilaanu) about rooster – Saivam

And of course there is a dog in Koode.

    • Don’t hold your breath. I watched the first season and got really really tired of it by the end, I just have no interest in the second season. I’ll wait for Motwane’s next movie instead.

      • Hahahhaaha….I see what you mean…I got a little tired of the second season…there is just too much plot and over-stylized technique…but I couldn’t stop watching coz Pankaj Tripathi as Guruji is just brilliant….like despite knowing that his ashram is fictional and f-ing crazy, I want to find it and join it…
