New Posters for Southern Movies! Mostly a Post to Talk about Madhavan’s Hair

Forgive me, I have Madhavan THOUGHTS, and I need to share them. And I am going to put a thin camouflage over that need by also addressing other upcoming film posters from the south.

Maddy!!!!! With a cello, which is like a super sexy instrument, right? And the short sides and floppy top of the head, hint of grey at the temples, and bad boy kind of clothes, I think this is all GOOD.

Less excited about Venkymama with Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya. I don’t mind Naga, but Venky really does nothing for me, and signs point to another one of those regressive Telugu family films I hate.

And then there is Allu Arjun’s new movie Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. In which he has new and different hair, and a fight scene, based on this poster. I am okay with that.

But mostly, I just feel the need to talk about Maddy. He looks really good, right? And the other poster for this film is about a “mute artist”, so if this some kind of intense love story between a mute artist and a celebrity musician, I am There For It. Especially since the “mute artist” is played by Anushka Shetty.

  1. It’s late here and I was going to bed, but I can’t without first commenting about those posters.

    1) Maddy- OMG he looks so good and I want to see this film asap. I would watch it for Maddy for sure, but with Anushka it becomes double must watch.
    2) Venky Mama is the opposite of Maddy/Anushka movie. I won’t watch it for sure. Venkatesh will be romancing a girl 100 years younger than him, Naga even on poster looks like he is shouting: I can’t act to save my live, why people continue to cast me?! There is also a tractor so it will be about good telugu values in the country. The only good thing is that I like both girls and I’m happy they are doing a movie that very likely will be a hit.
    3) Allu Arjun looks good
    4) Today also a new poster for Mahesh Babu next movie was shown. IDK be he always has the most boring posters ever, but at least he is not posing touching his collar again.

    • Yes! This may be the Maddy movie you were looking for, swoony romance and artistic soul and grey hair and everything. It’s not necessarily the Maddy movie I am looking for, looks a bit too over the top and unbelievably romantic for my taste.

Agree about Venky Mama! Unless it’s Fidaa, I don’t want to see any Telugu movie with a tractor.

      • Being honest I also have my doubts : the fact he is playing cello in the middle of the meadow, or that he is wearing sunglasses so maybe his character is blind. There is a lot of stuff on this poster, and I’m super excited but also in the back of my head I’m little worried it will be too over the top. But on the other hand a year has passed since I watched 96 and Koode and I desperately need extremely romantic / emotional film now. Hope Nishabdham will be the one.

        • Oh man, a love story between a blind musician and a mute/deaf artist! That’s got classic Tamil romance written all over it. Maybe he’ll be widowed too.

    • I feel like I need to point out that the huge fort in the background of the Mahesh movie poster is iconic and a throwback to Okkadu. Mahesh saves Bhoomika in Okkadu at the Konda Reddy Buruju center (the fort) and now they’ve shot what looks like a new fight scene for Sarileru Neekevvaru at the same location so the fans are really excited about that.

      • That’s cool! But I’m still tepid on the film, I want a poster that is more than just Mahesh standing around.

        • I think the movie is set to release in January for Sankranthi so that’s why they’ve only released two posters so far. One for Independence Day and one for Dussehra. I doubt that they’ll start promoting for real until late November.

  2. Allu Arjun’s look for this movie is not working for me but I think the movie itself will be really good. His first two collaborations with Trivikram, Julayi and S/o Satyamurthy, were great! Have you heard the first song from the movie? It’s pretty good!

  3. Venkatesh actually has really good comic timing and is a lot of fun to watch in his earlier films. But I understand why you don’t get him, because a lot of his charm has to do with his dialogues and puns. Chaitanya, on the other hand is too bland for me.
And I still hold my unpopular opinion that Anushka Shetty is not a good actress. Give me Samantha or even Trisha anyday.

    • I don’t get the appeal of most Telugu heroes like Mahesh Babu,Jr NTR and even Chiranjeevi but I get Venkatesh. He is goofy and funny in an older Nani kind of way. F2 was stupid but so much fun just cos of him. Also agree that Anushka Shetty without a good director is mediocre. Her imposing presence masks a lot & she is mostly required to look fierce and brav. But she struggles with the emotional bits as seen in Bhaagamatee. I really want to see how she will ‘act’ without dialogues. Anyways most of the male superstars gets by by their mass image, not cos of any exceptional acting skills.I’m happy heroines like Nayantara,Anushka,Samantha etc gets movies made for them & then their okayish performances get lauded as some career defining performance.

      • I like young Venkatesh, but can’t stand him romancing young girls since I watched Nuvvu Naaku Nachav (he was 40, and Aarti Agarwal was 16)

        • Wow really? I actually like that movie, but ew, that’s cringe-worthy. But it isn’t too far fetched in the south. Meena acted with Rajnikanth when she was a kid, and later she was his heroine in a couple of films. Ewww.

      • Yeah, I’m glad Nayantara’s achieved superstardom even though I don’t think much of her acting skills.
Hey atleast Jr NTR can dance, Mahesh has some sort of looks and intensity, but what in the world is Prabhas’s appeal? No dialogue delivery skills, not a good dancer, not a great actor either.

        • Well I could say Jr NTR’s dance is over the top,as in too energetic to the point of showy & like a wound up toy.Mahesh Babu looks like a cleaned fish with ears attached with the same kind of expressionless wooden acting in every movie & that you should watch Prabhas’s Keka dance in Rebel or Chatrapathi for his intense acting. Or we can just agree to disagree on all these actors & continue to love our respective favorites😉

    • I think Anushka Shetty might have the talent that we usually see in male stars, amazing presence and charisma which almost overpowers any particular role she might play.

  4. I just checked Nishabdam’s director and he has done only 3 movies so far:
    -Hindi horror/thriller with Jimmy Shergill
-Telugu action movie with Tapsee Pannu and Prakash Raj
    -Very bad hindi 3D horror

I never heard about any of those movies nor about the director (he is also the co-writer of those films). I’m a little worried now.
I was also looking for any information who wrote Nishabdham and seems that it was written by the director and Kona Venkat (who also, and it’s funny, wrote Venky Mama, Ninnu kori, Jai Lava Kusa among others). One thing is sure, it won’t be a tamil romance film.

    • Kona Venkat produced Ninnu Kori but I am pretty sure that he didn’t write it. He’s mostly a comedy writer and almost every medium/big budget Telugu action-comedy from the last few years has him involved in some way. Most of Sreenu Vaitla’s movies were written with Kona Venkat for example.
