What Do We Think of Shahrukh’s Shocking New Hairstyle????

Okay, “shocking”. It’s not like he shaved his head or something. But for a man who makes half inch alterations in his style once a year for the past 25 years, it’s shocking to me!

So far as I can tell, using my analytical trained eye, he kept the sides short and grew out the top even longer than before. Since his hair is thinner now, they went for a sort of soft swooping curls look instead of the tight sharp straight peak, and added in some light brown highlights.

Basically, he is going for the super hip boy band style pompadour/Mohawk combo and I think it is too young for him and I want him to go back to his normal hair and this whole thing is VERY UPSETTING.

    • Yes! I was just showing a friend the Main Hoon Na songs, it really was the perfect look for him. Dark black hair, cut short, just go with it.

    • I think the bangs are his natural hair. That is, unless he uses a ton of gel, his hair falls straight and forward. But he could also cut his hair so short that it can’t possibly bang, or just put in gel every morning!

  3. I’m not as picky as you guys. I’m okay with anything at all that is short at the bottom. The thing that scares me most is the dreaded mullet and ponytail. Anything else, I’m good.

    My problem is how thin he is. Why does he keep losing weight?! For god’s sake, he looks so much better and younger and healthier when he has more pounds on him. There is no way any role should require him to be this skinny.

    • Maybe he is naturally skinny? He was a skinny dude when he was starting out, and he was 25 or so then. Maybe working is when he puts on the pounds from strange schedules and stress?

  4. Yeah, he should stick with old faithful. This is verging on older-lady “just had a wash, style, and set at the salon” look. It verged on this in JHMS a couple of times too, but the sides were longer. Not crazy about the suit either. Classic tailoring looks best on him–why mess with success?

    • Maybe he has decided to stop acting and focus all his artistic creative energy on futzing with his look? I would hate that, but it would be kind of entertaining too.

  5. Actually I like it! I saw these images earlier today and I think he looks staggeringly hot, and pretty happy too. The only thing I’m trying to figure out is how does this hairstyle manifest between his being in LA like three days ago and then landing in Mumbai for this event. He was just here in Beverly Hills staying at an Airbnb walking at the corner of Wilshire and Rodeo with Pooja and all of a sudden he’s back and his hair is completely different and not all flopped forward the way his natural hair looks (which I actually also like). Anyway I guess I’m in agreement that anything but mullet or ponytail is pretty much OK with me. But on the other note I do think he looks skinny, too skinny, and every time I notice that it makes me worry a little bit. I think he definitely is more attractive with slightly more meat on his bones, and I found this is generally true as people get to his/ lmy age. Then it’s OK but super thin actually makes you look older than you are.

    • Based on his beard, I think we can say that his hair grows super super fast? Maybe he didn’t have time for a trim and landed up in Bombay and his stylist said “since the top is already extra long, what if we played with that a bit?”

      Or maybe he saw some cool dude in LA and took a photo and then went to Bombay and asked his stylist “can you make me look like this?”

    • He still had his regular floppy hair earlier in the day. There was a pic of him in his car because he had attended Rani’s daughter’s birthday party before the awards show.

      The hair cut itself might not be that different but the styling was different from usual. Maybe they did it because it was a Style Awards. He wore a Dior suit instead of the usual bespoke suits he wears and it was a weird looking one with no shirt and sleeves pushed up. Maybe they were going for a slightly androgynous look and decided to experiment a little since the event was sort of like that.

  9. Could be for a role, even a cameo. He said he would announce his next film when it starts shooting so that could be any time. I don’t mind it. I also like his swept back gelled look and his ponytail. Not so keen on the natural shaggy look he seems to prefer between filming.

    I agree about feeling he’s too thin. It’s a bit of a worry, but I’ve heard him say he prefers the ‘good butt’ over ‘good face’ which is a choice you make at a certain age, when you can’t have both.

    • The Brahmastra story today included a little comment that he shot a cameo already for that movie? Or is going to shoot a cameo? But, y ou know, it’s Brahmastra. It exists in its own time zone where the calendar never moves forward.

  10. I shouldn’t be writing this, but I’m a little worried he has cancer. It runs in his family and I would think with all his time off he would be getting fatter, not thinner. I don’t really think he is sick, but if I find out next month he took advantage of his kids US locals to see some doctors I won’t be shocked. I guess I just don’t see any good explanation for his weight loss.

    But I do like the hair, variety is the spice of life and I’m not super fond of the shaggy dog look. I actually like his little ponytails when he has them.

    • I almost had a heart attack reading this post.
      But logically, I don’t think he’s ill. His mind would not be on attending Style Awards and going to as many parties as he does if that was the case. It’s not unusual for him to get this skinny. He does off and on – he says all the time that food doesn’t interest him. Even Suhana as a baby used to mimic Gauri shouting at SRK to eat since it’s a regular thing in their household.
      He was also quite happy on the BBC interview he just did and said he took a year off to contemplate what kind of films to do since he has obviously been going wrong.

      • In the beginning of Don 2, with the braids (or was it dreads)… I thought Shah Rukh looked really hot. My spouse had a pony tail when he was in high school, but now that his 4-year-old son wants to grow one he isn’t fully on board. I actually love my spouse with shaggy hair, but he’s a teacher and feels his hair needs to be professional-ish. So he requires me to cut it short (I have the hair cutting duties in our family). Thankfully the spouse gives me variety by growing beards, and then shaving them off.

        But don’t worry. Mr. Khan does not get any hair style advise from me. Nor do I think that middle-aged, non-Desi Americans are his goal audience. I get to think what ever I want, and he won’t know. Basically I am begone. How strange it must be, to have so many people thinking about you all the time.

        • Wow, I hadn’t thought about that part of it before. To look at yourself in the mirror at the morning as you shave and know that literally billions of people care deeply whether you do a close shave today or not. Shahrukh must have to build some amazing psychic walls.

  11. I think he’s naturally skinny. He bulks up when he’s working out seriously which does for roles, though he likes it. I don’t think he’s sick, as it was said, he would not be prancing about. As to the hair, I think it’s temporary. Maybe Rajiv is on vacation and someone else did it. Mpollak711

        • Oh oh!!!! Maybe Shahrukh is moving towards coming out as Bi! Which I kind of suspect he is, but it isn’t a big issue since he is also monogamous. But hey, Queer Pride! If Shahrukh and Gauri want to be the grand masters of the Pride Parade in Bombay next year, I would be down for that.

  15. Ha! I like the idea to have something ‘special’ for this *eeehhh* ‘very important’ style award function (where the editor of Vogue-India got herself an award…).
    Well, as they knew that they would awarded the couple award and knowing the importance of Vogue for Gauri’s profession, they just played the game, I think.

    We will see what kind of hairstyle he’ll sport at the next function 😉 … as long as he is happy to be able to put his fingers through his hair… I’m happy, too 🙂

  16. It’s not a conventional jacket, almost a top with a really interesting cut. There’s no shirt collar, but enough to suggest there is something underneath, so not Ram Jaane.
    He’s a movie star so can afford to be a bit different, show a bit of panache, transcend age-pigeon holes, but he’s not silly about it. I think he looks great.

    • If he wants to experiment with his look, this is a good way to do it. Fashion forward, but not so extreme that the clothes are wearing him instead of the other way around.
