Happy Adoptiversary to ME!!!! And happy “eating way too much cake and probably going to make himself sick” to Albie Dog!
One year ago, I picked up Albie Dog at the shelter. Which is easy to remember because they were really pushing for me to pick him up on the 28th. I eventually realized that was because they wanted to keep their February adoption numbers up, just like a used car dealership, except with good people volunteering to help dogs get homes. Anyway, February 28th! Forever and ever, Albie Dog Day!
I made a Human Cake last night, actually two cakes, and then I broke up the second cake into pieces and used it to make a dog face on top of the first cake. It works, right?
And then today I brought in to work all the ingredients for a Dog Cake. Yes, you can buy Dog Cake Kits. For other sane reasonable people like myself who have the need to make cakes for their dogs. Here is the bone shaped mold that I am totally keeping for other dog cake occasions.
Here are the directions, which I miss-read and missed the second page, so I added water but no peanut butter to the cake mix, and I put the peanut butter in the frosting mix instead. But whatever, instructions are CONFUSING!
And the beautiful final product! The frosting is a little crumbly, see previous recipe following issue.
Anyway, we celebrated at work, I lit the candle and sang happy Birthday, Albie Dog got scared because of FIRE, then I blew out the candle and put the cake on the floor and in about 5 minutes, no more cake!
Cake
Cake
No cake!
And now the party is over, and we enter the celebration phase of “watching the dog for when he throws up/poops because SO MUCH CAKE”.
Truly, a wonderful day.
What a beautiful puppy! Happy birthday!

Thank you! I will pass on the good wishes to the dog, once he stops chewing his leg.

I loves dogs. I’d love to have one but I’ve 5 cats at present and they’re super-territorial. đŸ˜¦
P.s – I just noticed that it’s Albie’s rescue anniversary and not birthday. Silly me.

Yeah, no idea on his birthday. But he is such a puppy, I have to think he must be about 18 months old and no more. Little wriggly baby.

What a cutie!! Happy rescue anniversary, Albie. Hope you get lots of peanut butter filled treats today.
Also, on that note, my husband and I are getting a dog! We are still debating between a few different ones but I will send you pics once we actually pick one and bring him home.

Yes yes YES! Dog pictures! And if he’s cute (let’s be real, all dogs are cute) I might be willing to take one on to Saturday Small Talk or something.
Get a dog that’s a dog, is my advice. Not one that is secretly a cat, or a little yip machine, but a good solid doggie dog.

Ha! That’s the plan. My husband’s only request was please no yippie dog.
