Watch Khoobsurat With Me in 48 Hours, Friday 2pm Chicago Time!

Honestly I was leaning Aaja Nachle, but the People said Khoobsurat, so I am going with that! And so you can start thinking now, next week do we want Veere Di Wedding or Street Dancer 3D?

It’s real simple, half an hour or so before the movie starts I will put up a placeholder post. At 2pm, I will put on the first comment. And then you all keep posting your comments on the same post as we watch. You can join as at any time and we will catch you up and tell you where we are in the movie. And you can also come to the post later and read all the comments as you watch the film, but that is way way WAY less fun than watching and commenting life with us.

Here’s the post from last week so you can see how it works: https://dontcallitbollywood.com/2020/03/20/aiyya-group-watch-starts-in-half-an-hour-comment-along-here/

  1. Yay for Khoobsurat. I really hope I can join! Also, did Veere available for streaming? I couldn’t find it a few weeks ago when I looked.

I can’t find Veere with a quick search (except for Einthusan, Lord Bless It), but prepare to get your angry feminist hat on: The male focused cheap rip off Veerey Ki Wedding, is available

        • I saw that Veerey Ki Wedding is on Netflix. I refuse to watch it because I just know I won’t be able to tolerate it. Also, choosing between Veere and Street Dancer is IMPOSSIBLE. I watched Street Dancer last weekend and loved it sooo much! It is made my inner 13-year old girl heart so happy; I am such a sucker for such movies! My only issue with the movie (and it is a very important one) was that there wan’t enough romance. Great chemistry but not enough romance. When Shraddha comes running out the door after Varun defends her to her family, why only a hug??? That was an amazing kiss moment! Geez!

          • YES! Why are Varun and Shraddha denied their love scenes???

So glad to know there is another Street Dancer 3D fan out there. It is just the perfect version of the movie it is, you know? Maybe that is what I should watch with my parents tonight? My Mom might roll her eyes a bit, but will still enjoy it.

          • Oh speaking of movies with parents, so far, I have made my dad watch Artcile 15 and Saand Ki Annkh and he really enjoyed them both. He likes serious justice-related movies and sports films, so I figured he would enjoy them both. I am thinking I will introduce him to Mulk next. Any other suggestions? He generally likes action films too. He really really loved Dangal. He thought War was entertaining, but hated Dabang 3.

A Gentleman is the greatest movie EVER. Ooo, Brothers might be a good one too.

          • Ooooh good call with Gold and A Gentleman. Also, Bang Bang. Dhoni might bore him. Ooh, I just thought of this. He would enjoy Gully Boy.

          • J/K dad did not like Gully Boy. Too much poverty porn for him. The cheating, the domestic violence, and the scenes sad scenes and
dialogue after the cheating scene, got to him a little bit.

  2. I haven’t seen Veere Di Wedding, but I was truly truly let down by Street Dancer, and I don’t know if I want to sit through it again, so Veere has my vote for next time.

    • Veere is AWESOME and I want more people to see it. Especially since it didn’t get a good streaming release.

  3. I want to watch street dancer next week so I can make fun of chest make-up in the morning, and it will force me to see the whole movie, despite morning chest make-up. I’m keeping my fingers crossed I can do this Friday’s watch-along, but the timing isn’t awesome for my children. I mean they could watch it with me, but in reality they will be fighting and destroying the house, so usually around that time we have been going on unpopulated excursions. Sometimes I can get out of the excursions, I’ll do my best.

    • Oh, I hope to see you there on Friday! Khoobsurat really is wonderful. To be very gender normative for a moment, if you had girls they would all love it. We can also bump it back a few hours next week, let me know if 3 or 4 central time is easier for you.

  4. I’m going to try this week – I do want to see Khoobsurat and I haven’t seen VDW but like the songs so I’m going to vote for that. Don’t take my input too seriously though..I’m in a similar boat to Genevieve. I started Street Dancer but I couldn’t keep watching, don’t know why.

    • Is it possible you couldn’t keep watching Street Dancer because it is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo dumb? That’s why I love it, but also why I only want to watch it in a group.

And hope to “see” you on Friday!
