Friday WatchAlong: Dilwale! Right Here!

Woo-hoo, a Shahrukh movie! And a good/bad one, so we will neither be distracted by being in love with him, nor bored by how terrible the film is. Oh, also Varun Dhawan, the Birthday boy.

Dilwale! Big fun bright dumb! The comedy track is murder, but we can just talk about other things during that section. Watch it on Netflix, or anywhere else you can find it.

I will start the comments below at 3pm Chicago time, you all can just keep adding on. Fun fun!

  1. Been so wrapped up in the scenes I haven’t commented, BUT the 11-year-old said he would die for his brothers, meanwhile the younger two are about the get time outs for fighting over a toy boat. Ah brotherly love.

  2. This brings up a question I raised a while back which we never definitively answered, sex or no back in Bulgaria? Is this a lovers reunion or just a “two people who held hands” reunion?

    • Well they were going to get married, so even if they hadn’t copulated it was a stronger commitment than holding hands.

    • Unless I counted wrong. Next Saturday is May 2nd? Which I counted up on my calendar months back based on a casual comment you made?

      • Did I make a casual bday comment? What an odd bday this will be compared to last year’s giant Bollywood extravaganza! Letting me pick will be the best gift ever and I will love to spend part of my birthday weekend with this crew!

  3. This was very very fun. Actually enjoyed this watching it the third time more than I did watching at the first two times and I’ll certainly give credit to watching it with all of you lovelies.

    • I totally loved seeing it in theaters opening night with 7 friends, and all 7 of them (including our token Aamir fan) also loved it. I think it’s a movie made to be seen in a group, and it just looks dumb watched alone.

  4. Rats, woke up too late and from previous experience it’s too hard to then try and find the right spot in the movie to synchronise with you. Hope you all enjoyed the session.

  5. Oh, I LOVED it soooo much…couldn’t yesterday but now…watching the movie in bits & pieces and enjoying your comments and your pleasure!!! I still think that it is a valuable birthday gift for Varun. The brother story is such an important part of Dilwale and Varun pulled it of superbly.

    • I think just Varun holding his own and letting us not get bored during his scenes is a triumph! The comic sequences were just torture, but the Varun-only scenes were entertaining.
