I am so busy these days! I work work work, and then watch non-Indian movies with my parents every night. Which means I am having a hard time squeezing in new movies to watch, although I can still review! So what movies have I already watched, in my long long life, that I have not yet reviewed? Help me remember!
I honestly only started watching non-Hindi movies post-blogging. So every single non-Hindi movie I have seen in my life, I have already reviewed. But surely there are Hindi movies still out there?
Give me a Hindi movie from between 1990 and 2020 that I have not yet reviewed! I may say “no, I will never watch that movie”. Or I may say “No, already reviewed, here is the link”.
But there is a far more likely chance I will say “Oooo! I’ve totally seen that movie and I can write a review!”
I just need ideas, talk to me!
Yeh Dillagi
Dil Kya Kare
Another one with Kajol and Ajay – U me aur hum
I see you (Arjun Rampal movie)
Jhootha Hi Sahi (I know you watched it because you often mention John wearing the glasses but I don’t know if you wrote a review)

Thank you! Yeh Dillagi and Jhootha Hi Sahi I’ve seen, Dil Kya Kare I distinctly remember a friend telling me about in college as the weirdest movie she had ever seen and I made a mental note not to watch it, U Me Aur Hum I avoided because, well, it just sounded horrible.
But Yeh Dillagi and Jhootha! I like those! I should totally review them if I haven’t already! Thanks!

Dil Kya Kare is terrible. It was one of the first movies I watched after my sabbatical and I hated it.
U Me Aur Hum left me traumatized, it’s good you avoid it.
Yeh Dillagi is another one I don’t like, but I have things to say about it. And I know Alisa likes it a lot.

I love Yeh Dillagi! I’m super interested in hearing why you don’t like it. I also love Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi but I heard a podcast with folks being super critical of it and it was definitely thought provoking, I didn’t disagree with anything they said but I still love the film because everyone loves problematic things.

I will totally review Yeh Dillagi, but prepare yourself for a lengthy digression in which we discuss the respective sexiness of Humphrey Bogart and William Holden and how ridiculous it is for them to be brothers.

I don’t think you have reviewed Yaadein….I rewatched it recently and forgot how awesome it was…hammy acting, fake crocodiles, EVIL rich people in big mansions…its a gem!
LikeLike
Oooo, good one! I’m looking for movies I have seen straight through in the past, and one quick fastforward will remind me of the whole plot, Yaadein DEFINITELY counts. Plus it can spark the eternal debate again, “Jackie Shroff-Hot or Not?”
LikeLike
I’m the only person who thought Jackie was hotter than Aamir in Rangeela so I firmly fall into the Jackie is Hot camp

NO! Really? NO!
Okay, now I have to review Rangeela just so I can call you out with something subtle like “and now Alisa in the comments is going to explain why Jackie is sexier than Aamir in this film because she is the only person in the world who thinks that”.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Jackie was def sexier in Rangeela…I mean the role itself was a charming nice movie star!
But Yaadein has Hritikh…so he is going to lose there

Ajay is in Raincoat! Maybe you were thinking of Chameli? Mid 2000s + Rain + Mainstream Actress doing something offbeat?

Raincoat is an amazing movie! Rituparno Gosh was a genius director and he really knew how to use Aish…this is her best performance (maybe tied with Chokher Bali)…she plays a beautiful woman who hides her emotions behind her vanity… it’s perfect for her and she is shockingly good in the movie!
LikeLike
Amazing how I suddenly found her normal speaking voice tolerable with the right direction! Haven’t gotten around to seeing Chokher Bali yet for some reason but she seems really good in it.
LikeLike
Absolutely agree! You shouldn’t dismiss her without having seen Raincoat–she’s so good in it! And Ajay is kind of sexy in a downtrodden middle-manager kind of way.

By any chance, have you seen Dil Hi Dil Mein ?
It is a dubbed / partially re-shot version of Kadhalar Dhinam
All songs by A R Rahman are excellent. But lead actors, Sonali Bendre & Kadhir, could probably be a bit “wooden”, I think

It has Madhuri, Akshay and Saif in a romantic love triangle as well as Amish Puri with a lot of crazy plot twists on the way. Basically, if Silsila and Sangam mixed together. Also, this song is great!

Glad it blew your mind! 🙂 Well, it is as well known because I suppose so much movie cames out to overshadow it in the late 90s so it slipped under the radar.

Daud is slightly different, same basic plot but the backstory of the two leads is a little different I think.

Thanks! Good list!

I know you don’t like Kangana but I saw Simran a few weeks ago and I liked it, it’s not a super deep kind of movie, but its realistic. American life in it especially for Indians who move there as adults or teenagers is shown very realistically. I think the real character this movie is based on was a girl who moved to the US when she was a child from India but in the movie I think she was supposed to have moved to the US in her early twenties perhaps. That’s totally off topic but anyway watch it!

I just remembered you havent reviewed my favorite movie ever – Jaani Dushman Ek Anokhi Kahaani (2002)…seriously it really is an all-time great….Manisha Koirala & Arman Kohli play shape-shifting snake lovers…Amrish Puri curses them….they are reincarnated in the 21st century…more complications ensue caused by a college gang (Akshay Kumar, Sonu Nigam, Suneil Shetty, Sunny Deol +++)…so now the shape-shifting snake people use their magical powers to assasinate the college gangs in batshit crazy inventive ways…the whole thing is Maakhi level insane.
