My Grandpa’s on YouTube! Giving Advice to High School Seniors (And All of Us!)

I’m just so proud 🙂 The local high school asked residents at Grandpa’s retirement home to give little messages for the graduating seniors. And now he’s on youtube!

My Grandpa is at two minutes in, sitting in his fancy new lay-z-boy with the duck picture behind him, wearing an excellent Evanston High School t-shirt. And encouraging kids to make a choice and learn about something new, even if they think they don’t know anything about it and it’s too hard, because it will enrich your life. This is the man, by the way, who was just quizzing my Dad about Rishi Kapoor, because at 98 he is trying very hard to learn about Indian film.

We should all learn new things! Make a choice and study what you want and don’t be afraid!

There are other nice people giving good advice too. And if you feel a desperate need for pleasant elderly people giving advice, this video will fill that gap in your life.

(But Grandpa is the best one)

    • He’s always been very big on new experiences being good. Whenever I plan a trip, I can count on a Grandpa check arriving in the mail just before I leave with instructions to use it for something fun.

  1. Thanks a lot, Margaret, for making us know your family through your blog! Give your grandpa a hug from my side…what he says is something I also try to follow and try to pass to the young ones 🙂

  2. I love this so much. I shared it with my MIL who is taking an Archeology course (she is nervous about an upcoming test)—which is completely unrelated to the what she did professionally—in her retirement.
