Shahrukh Birthday Month, What is Your Favorite Shahrukh Song Sequence?

This seems like a nice question for a rainy Friday. I look forward to your answers! You can’t possibly be wrong, anything is right.

Favorite Shahrukh song! Doesn’t have to be objectively the “best” or anything like that, just your personal favorite. Share them with us!

I’ll give you mine, not terribly original, but I love “Preity Woman”. It came out the year I found him and was playing everywhere. Plus it’s a familiar catch tune from my childhood remixed. Plus I love the crazy happy multicultural vision of America.

  1. The one that never fails to make me smile is Haule Haule.

So many others I’ve gone through phases of watching and rewatching though.

    Jiya Re
    Raula
    Radha
    Heer
    Kashmir Main Tu Kanyakumari
    Maahi Ve

    • Oh! I forgot about Kashmir! That is such a fun happy bright silly one.

  2. My favorite is Radha from Jab Harry Met Sejal and (this isn’t a proper song sequence) the train scene in Chennai Express where Deepika and SRK communicate through song.

    • Radha is so brilliant, it’s not my favorite only because it’s TOO good. I end up feeling like I have to work too hard to catch all th ebrilliance.

  3. Maahi Ve has that nostalgia factor going for it of being one of the first choreographies I learned – and a pretty easy, fun one, at that.

I also always sing along to Yeh Mera Dil. Might just be because it was on Singstar Bollywood. But the song is also a real ear worm, and I love the way it was ever so slightly updated and made a little rockier for the modern version. I love Kareena doing a Helen. And I love the way that character is a good girl who uses her feminine wiles against the villain. Ok, I guess this song wins.

    • Yeh Mera Dil is amazing, especially because Shahrukh never actually dances, he just reacts.

  4. Ok, here we go (straight from the spam box):

    – Baadshah O Baadshah (I love when he jumps, and his black outfit looks like something from Backstreet Boys’ Millennium Tour)
    – Dard-e-disco
    – Chammak Challo
    – Sharabi (but let’s take a look on Deepika’s “six pack” part, it’s crazy O_O):

    – Chaiyya Chaiyya
    – Satarangi Re
    – Haule Haule
    – Dil Ki Tanhai Ko (one of my forever favorites)
    – Gale Mein Laal Taai (he’s just reacting to Madhuri and Salman, but it’ SO FUNNY, god)
    – Main Hoon Don
    – Chhoo Le Ne De (it’s weird, sexy and nobody knows it because it’s not on YouTube)
    – Ishq Kameena (he and Aishwarya had more chemistry in this one than in all their movies, but I miss them together)

Bonus 1 – Shah Rukh and Ranveer dancing to Malhari is my happy place

Bonus 2 – Sachi Ye Kahani Hai (with the Rasputin sample)

    • Only disagreement, Satrangi Re! I just can’t get past the spandex tube section, it’s too WEIRD looking.

      • I’m not sure, but I think I’ve seen an image similar to that of spandex tube somewhere. Maybe in some contemporary ballet? Were they trying to represent a heart/the heartbeat? We will never know. I think I will take the opportunity and do justice to Roshini Se, who I rewatched today and liked it more than the first time. It’s not the kind of thing you see in a musical epic like that, with the reverse effect and everything. It’s beautiful and so well done!

  5. Does Aaya Tere Dar Par counts? I love this song and all the scene. I have goosebumbs everytime I watch it. My other favourite is also from Veer-Zaara : Main Yahaan Hoon. Seems that I love the songs in which Shah Rukh just walks and looks sexy.

I also have a soft spot for Kitaben Bahut Si from Baazigar

    • Of course it counts! And songs where Shahrukh walks and looks sexy are very logical things to like.

I do find it funny that the Shahrukh in Kitaben is pretending to be the kind of Shahrukh you would like (glasses, sweet, a little uncertain) but is actually all mean and alpha.

    • That was my sister’s favorite for a while! It’s totally silly and totally sincere at the same time.

      • It is acting, in a song. SRK has said he can’t act and dance at the same time, and in fact, in all the acting bits, he is mostly standing still.

        • I hadn’t thought about that! I’m going to have to watch for it now, the times in a song when he has to stop dancing so he can act.
