2020 Awards: Best Pregnancy, Anushka or Kareena?

Yes, of course we are doing 2020 Awards! But DCIB style, nothing boring like “best song”, instead interesting stuff that fits the 2020 mood. Starting with 2 quarantine babies! And two great social media announcements! But which do we like better?

Kareena

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Reflects on Life pointed out in the comments that there are TWO videos in this post, and the second one might be a gender reveal video. Kareena lights two candles, the blue one fizzles out and the red/pink one keeps burning and both she and Saif seem way WAY too emotional for it to be just about candles. Watch that before making your final choice!

Anushka

Which pregnancy brought you more joy???????

      • LOL I tried to not be negative, but if you ask, I just don’t like Kareena AT ALL. I’m also not a fan of Saif, so when I heard about their second pregnancy I was like: who cares? I feel sorry for this child because he/she will grow in the spotlight, just like his/her brother.

        • Hey, no judgement here! I am assuming Anushka’s baby brings you more joy because you are happy for the parents and also curious to see how they will parent?

          • Yes, I’m very happy for Anushka and Virat. I like them, and it’s their first child. I wish them the best

  1. I also say Anushka…the reason is a little random so bear with me…

Kareena’s second pregnancy doesn’t hold any surprise…the kid will be very cute…will become a paparazzi star…and in 18 years will make their Bollywood debut… it’s all finalized already! The kid will also probably marry one of KJo’s kids (depending on the preference of course…but they have both options here so it’s easy!).

Now, Anushka pregnancy seems more interesting like it offers up so many possibilities…will the kid be an actor or cricketer? Or maybe since the kid has choice they can choose something completely different…maybe they become a gymnast or singer? Will the kid be raised with Anushka’s feminist values? Will it be in the media’s eye? So many exciting questions/possibilities here…

    • Will the kid marry Kareena’s kid and thus create a double Cricket/double actor genetic pool? Will the kid go on to be a Cricket player and eventually challenge Taimur for captainship of India?

      • Hmmm…No I don’t think Anushka kid will marry Kareena’s kid (or another star kid)…Anushka doesn’t seem like the person who hangs out with the usual star crowd…she sees it as work…and more importantly, Saif-Kareena’s values are very different from Anushka-Virat values…the kids will have very different world views…I just don’t see the marriage…

One possibility is that Anushka’s kid marries Lara Dutta-Mahesh Bhupati daughter…now that will create a wonderful double actor/double athlete combo…or even Sania Mirza’s son?

        • Or Ranveer/Dips’ hypothetical child! Bring together Cricket and Badminton.

  2. Karena’s is by far cuter and more honest. It isn’t even an announcement right? She just shared a vid in which she is obviously pregnant. Whereas Anushka is polished and obvious and providing details. Karena is a person, Anushka is a public figure. As actors I like Anushka, as friends I would probably choose Anushka, but if a friend told me they were pregnant with a polished announcement I wouldn’t think they were my true friend. So Karena gets props for being real.

    • All of this is super logical and real. I agree, I like Kareena’s announcement (really just a video in which she is pregnant) more. But they are in different places in life/celebrity. I look forward to their birth announcements when we can have this whole conversation over again.

  3. Kareena’s isn’t just an announcement… it’s a gender reveal! Swipe left to 2/2. In fact it looks like a gender reveal for Saif as well! They light the blue sparkle candle on the cake, then the pink one. The blue one goes out, but the pink one keeps sparkling. Look at the sense of surprise and love on Saif’s face, and the sense of happiness and love on Kareena’s face in response to Saif’s reaction.

I’m more excited about Anushka Virat baby because I really like them as a couple and individually, plus it’s their first, and the first of that year’s married couples (Deepika Anushka Priyanka). Plus they look so cute in the photo.

(Is not about disliking saif kareena at all. )

But the gender reveal video is just so touching. Like stated above, it almost feels like they are sharing their lives intimate precious moments & emotions with you.
So I like this announcement much more.

    • I totally missed that!!!! I don’t think I even watched the second video. And I bet you are right, they are so happy and emotional, it doesn’t make sense if it is just “let’s light happy candles”.

I think I have to update the post to tell people to watch the second video!

    • Are they 100% illegal? I thought it was something like within a certain time and so on.

        • Huh. Well, I suppose they could still have gone out of country for tests. But wow, I had not thought about what a massive sort of social change that would be, to not have prenatal gender testing.

I agree with the principle of the law and I have no problems with it. But it is interesting, the whole “gender reveal” has become so commonplace now. When I was born, in the 80s, my parents didn’t know in advance just because the science wasn’t there for it to be certain (ultrasounds aren’t always clear). And then there was that whole period of people “deciding” if they wanted to be surprised or not. And now we have these big gender reveal parties. And there is this massive part of the globe where all of that just doesn’t matter, deciding if you want to know or not, hoping the ultrasound is clear, planning a gender reveal party, just not an issue. I kind of like it. It feels silly not to know if it is easy to find out, but it does kind of ruin the magic a little bit 🙂

          • I know a ton of Westerners who purposely did not find out the gender of their baby. Not me. I found out for each one, and STILL it took a year to get over the fact that the second one wasn’t a girl.

          • Were you resigned to boys by the time the third one came along, or was that another shock?

Also, my parents didn’t know because it wasn’t possible back then, but somehow they had it in their heads that they were going to have girls. To the point of not even having boy’s names ready, they could just only picture girls.

  4. Saif almost flipped this because of how he holds his own belly in video 2, but have to agree with Anushka-Virat because of the first time parent and curiosity reasons. And just seeing Anushka as a mom will be fun and different.

    • Oooo! I wonder if Anushka will do a gender non-confirming parenting style? You know, the non-gendered clothes and stuff that some parents really believe in? Or at the very least, not put her little girl in pink dresses and her little boy in army camo. If any public parent is going to be brave enough to do it, I feel like it will be Anushka.

      • Good luck not putting a girl in pink. 95% of the time it is the CHILD making those clothing decisions, not the parent. Of course it is different when they are an infant.

        • Oh! My Mother had such FIGHTS with us!!!! Both me and my sister wanted to wear tights and pretty dresses. My mother did not, just because it is so much harder for us to move and play in those outfits. We ended up with the classic compromise of shorts under a skirt, so you can still climb on the jungle gym and use the monkey bars, but also be “pretty”.

Meanwhile, I know two little sisters from my Sunday School class, the oldest likes to wear fancy sneakers and jeans and a fedora with sparkles (this is at age 8 or so), and the youngest is the girliest little girl I know. Same parents, same household, two different little kids.

  5. I want Saif and Kareena to name their kid Safeena-a legit name which means boat.
I shall forever be grateful to DCIB for coining the word RatKa.
