Monday Morning Questions: What Do You Want to Ask Me the First Week of 2021?

Happy Monday!!!! I am going to be SO BUSY today! First working day of the month, first working day of the year, AND a Monday. BLECH! Anyway, ask me questions, maybe it will be a nice distraction from the ten million things I have to do.

Here is where you get to ask anything you want about anything! “How did you celebrate New Years?” or “What movie are you most looking forward to this year” or anything else. Just keep swinging back to this post all week as much as you want every time you think of a question.

Now, question for you! First, have you ever potted a Christmas tree?

I potted my live tree over the weekend, and I am determined to keep it alive. I’ve never had much luck with plants, but I think the key here is that I need to make my entire sense of self-worth tied up in the health of this one plant, and then I can keep it alive.

Second question! Am I the only one fascinated by the Sheena Bora murder case? Tragic and horrible, yes. But also, Indrani Mukherjee is now refusing to wear the convict’s uniform in court and Peter Mukherjee is trying to bring in the Ambanis somehow?

Third question! Actually related to the general topic of this blog, Tribhanga teaser is released! Are you Very Excited, Slightly Excited, Cautiously Excited, or Not Interested Because You Have No Taste?

  1. I have, and they always die, so now I just buy cut off ones until I have a garden where I will try again.

I don’t get the Tribanga trailer. It looks like a trailer made on Drag Race for a challenge and all the feedback is like “I love it but what is it ABOUT??”.

    • Mine will not die, and that will be proof that I am a responsible caring adult independent competent person! And if it does die, not.

I think the Tribhenga was a teaser trailer, so it’s supposed to make you go “yes, but what is it about?” The real trailer comes later (maybe today?)

      • The trailer is out but it doesn’t have subtitles.

It looks like Kajol is angry at her mother, Tanvi, for being a genius dancer but a bad mother. Mithila is Kajol’s daughter and seems to have been trying to always be perfect probably because of the conflict between her mother and grandmother. I will watch it at some point but I need to be in the mood to deal with it.

        • So, it’s exactly what I was hoping? All female conflict with amazing cast?

          • Yupp. Glad you will watch it and review it for us so I can keep ignoring it for the time being .

          • This is reminding me of Little Things, when it was all fun and games until it got into realistic relationship fights about stuff like being late to dinner.

          • I loved Little Things. Thanks for introducing me to it. It was exceptional. I also think all three actresses in this movie are great. But I just don’t have any interest or appetite for another Marathi movie (yeah yeah they made it semi-Hindi now) that is all about family drama and years of dysfunction. I am just so over them!

        • I was cautiously excited until they said “copyright” and now I am very excited! Because obviously a three generational mother-daughter story with copyright as a plot point is all I ever wanted. Agree that it looks like a fantastic role for Kajol, and Mithila and Tanvi look amazing and Kunal is beautiful while playing a writer/journalist bookish brainy type. I am there with bells on.

    • Luckily, I am leaving it in my apartment where I only spend half the week, so I don’t think I can overwater it.

  2. Netflix India just uploaded this SRK tribute to YT about 5 hours ago. Is there an SRK movie or streaming series in the works?

    • Or, is this because they just renewed their deal with Red Chillies for another 5 years and want to try to get people to watch the movies/remind them that they have the Dharma films now too?

      • Good point!

In your other thread about film industry movies, I thought that Fan would have done really well if it were released for the first time right now as a Netflix movie. I dunno if it would have made more money, but it would have more eyeballs and more appreciation. It’s better suited to modern taste esp in streaming content, and SRK examining his own stardom and fandom in a gray shaded film, as SRKs first foray into streaming, would have blown everyone’s mind.

Q – Which DRK movies do you think would do well or would have done better if they had been released today on an OTT platform?

Besides Fan, I would add Swades and Chak de to this list. Of course , unlike Fan, those movies did well when they released. But I think they would be embraced even more if they released for the first time now, and steaming. Imagine Chak de as an annual holiday family film push.

        • Oooo, I agree about Fan on streaming! Partly because it sets an expectation, too “risky” for theaters, aimed at the super smart international audience, not just a brainless crowd pleaser.

JHMS and Zero are gimmes for your question, because they DID do better on streaming. After “flop” theatrical releases, they set records for purchases and downloads once they hit streaming services. If they had started on streaming, capturing the audience that doesn’t want to go to theaters right from the beginning, they could have avoided that false “flop” label.

Dear Zindagi would have been a great streaming release for International Woman’s Day or Mental Health Day or something like that, a theme idea that they could use to join the conversation.

  3. I’m super excited!!! I just saw a FB announcement that it comes out on the 15th and THAT is why I rushed over to DCIB to share in the JOY! A new Kajol Film. She better not die of cancer in this one. Though it looks like it is someone else dying in the trailer.

Tree- my biggest worry about your potted pine is root temperature. Typically in the ground the roots would never get too hot or too cold. I have no experience in how to deal with this with a potted tree, but that is what I would be worried about.

    • The Internet said to keep it neither too hot nor too cold, and also both not too much sun or too little. So I put it about 5 feet from the window and the radiator. We will see!

And yaaaaay! Someone else is excited for Kajol! I also hope she is not the one dying of cancer. And is there a rule that mother/daughter movies have to have cancer somewhere?

  4. Help, I need a fabulous big dancing wedding GIF to congratulate my Nepali coworker/movie chat buddy on her wedding! Any ideas? She’s slightly younger than me, though with a classic 90s soft spot, so modern preferred but classic OK too.
