The Salman vaccination is pretty for sure, the Aamir story might still be false. We shall see! But both of them are Big News, so the DCIB community needs a place to process.
Aamir Khan:
Every news source is reporting that he tested positive and is self-quarantining. And there is an official statement they are quoting from his rep, “Mr Aamir Khan has tested positive for Covid 19. He is at home in self-quarantine, following all the protocols and he’s doing fine. All those who came in contact with him in the recent past should get themselves tested as a precautionary measure. Thank you for all your wishes and concern.”
Here’s my concern, Aamir JUST announced he was taking a social media break, which means there is no way for me to cross check for myself with his direct social media accounts. It’s unlikely that the media is making up an official statement that they have received/someone is pretending to be his rep. But I am sooooooooooooo paranoid, I don’t quite believe anything until it is confirmed by real reputable social media accounts.
Anyway, Thoughts and Prayers, I like Aamir as a person and an actor and a public figure and all those things, but most importantly his son is only 9, so Aamir has to stick around for at least another 9 years minimum.

Most likely, Salman is doing the responsible thing and publicizing that he is getting vaccinated. But there is BARELY a chance that he was at the hospital for some other reason and put out this tweet as a coverup. I think all my years of following Hindi film media has made me WAY paranoid.
Anyway, two big news stories! And I look forward to hearing what y’all think about it.

I saw your tweet and headed on over. This is such upsetting news. Can you imagine quarantining and going through a year of fear over covid only to get it just before you’re eligible for the vaccine? I hope he recovers quickly but 55 is 55 even if he looks younger.

This is why I did my insane 12 hour drive!!!! I just couldn’t STAND the thought of being within a month of getting a vaccine through regular channels, and suddenly getting sick. Worth the 12 hours just to avoid that regret. When I didn’t know I was within a month, I didn’t care nearly as much.

Maybe you’re a LEETTLE bit paranoid. It’s true that the more you know, the less you swallow. And you know a lot about Indian cinema. I think Aamir prob has it and Salman doesn’t want to get it. They’re both doing the right thing.
I got my 2nd Moderna yesterday, am feeling fine and ready (in 2 weeks) to party! Which for me is TJ Maxx, Whole Foods, and the Lego Store with my grandkids.

I went to the grocery store JUST FOR FUN on Saturday. Well, not exactly just for fun, but for a few things instead of for a 4 month shop like usual. It was amazing to go “hey, if I am feeling like cheese, and I am out of cheese, I can just go BUY CHEESE.

Based on the number and variety of sources that are covering the Aamir story, he has it. However, I am not terribly worried YET. To me, Aamir should have access to the monoclonal antibody cocktail for the treatment of COVID-19. If he is remotely high-risk, his medical team will have him get the infusion right away and that reduces his risk of hospitalization and/or death by 70%. In the latest clinical trial, only 1% of those who received this drug were even hospitalized. But access isn’t everything. Humans are humans and many don’t listen to their doctors or wait too long to get the treatment, so those factors could increase his risk.

Because I am paranoid, I had preemptively looked up which hospitals/infusion centers around me and my dad’s house offered the antibody cocktail, and told my dad that if, by chance, he had contracted Covid, he was going to go there IMMIDIATELY and get the infusion. My dad’s business partner’s husband is VERY high-risk (he has no spleen) and he went there immediately when he contracted it and was fine.
