Now, question for you! If you could only choose one, waffles or French toast or pancakes?
I think I would go French toast. It’s moister and more filling. Good French toast that is, not yucky French toast.

Sometimes I make French Toast for dinner. It makes the kids happy, and it gets rid of stale bread. Also, asparagus goes well with French Toast.

Asparagus and syrup? Because that sounds DISGUSTING. Or is it savory French toast and Asparagus, because that could be good.
I think of French Toast as a special treat maybe because we always had super super whole grain bread that you couldn’t use for French Toast, so we didn’t have it at home, just at restaurants.

We often use whole wheat bread for french toast, but it is the cheap kind, so it works fine. And some like the Asparagus with syrup and some don’t. I don’t actually like syrup, except on breakfast sausage. Everyone has their quirks.

Asparagus? With Syrup? I just can’t even imagine! This may be an activity for me and my parents to try at some point and see if it is secretly delicious.

I have never had sweet french toast, we always make it savory and I love it that way.
Then, on my list there are crepes (not a big fan of american style pancakes). And last – waffles.

I do like Arshad Warsi! And I think he is still in the same place he has been for 20 years, which is one of the reasons I like him. He is so reliable. Character actor, sometimes comic sometimes serious, always professional and always working. Looks like he was in two comedies, a horror film, a serious TV series, and now might be filming Golmaal 5.

I finished Julayi and it made me curious about Ileana D’Cruz and Sonu. I know you’ve explained this many ways, but how do they move back and forth between industries? They were both a big part of what made the movie entertaining. And when Sonu got to flash a smile at the end as he’s being defeated by Allu Arjun, whew, caught me off guard, surprisingly sexy.

Illeana pretty much just jumped ship south to north. She is SUPER good with languages, which is a big help. Her Mom was in the hospitality industry so I imagine little Illeana growing up learning multiple languages. She started young in Telugu films (where it is easy to break in as an unconnected unknown) and landed a few massive break out parts. And then jumped ASAP to Hindi films, starting in small less interesting roles and slowly building. I think of her as mostly known for professionalism. She takes parts in multi-starrers and does well with them, doesn’t make a fuss, isn’t really in the news, always shows up for promotions, and so on.
Sonu tends to go back and forth between industries. He’s not a big deal actor in any language industry, just kind of a familiar reliable actor. There are a lot of character actors that travel between languages, I didn’t even realize it until I started watching non-Hindi films. I thought of them as just Hindi actors, and then they surprised me by popping up in all kinds of other industries. Sonu is on the top end of that traveling back and forth.
The top level Stars have such a loyal audience in their original language group, and they can’t risk cheapening their brand by taking a smaller role in another language. But loads of lessor actors travel all over industries. If you know the languages, no reason not to. Technicians sometimes travel across industries as well, which is how the stars often start moving. A director from one industry who is offered a job in another might bring with him some character actors he trusts as support.

Oh yeah! Prakash Raj is maybe the best example? He does a lot of villain roles in Hindi, does father and villain roles in Telugu, and has down leading roles in other industries. Just, whatever he likes. He even produced his own movie about HIV.

“Far from the Madding Crowd” – did somone read it or saw the movie? I just saw the trailer and the beautiful poster and was ready to start watching but I saw it’s Thomas Hardy novel, and immediately felt demotivated. His “Tess of the d’Urbervilles” is one of the books I hate the most and I’m affraid “Far from the Madding Crowd” will be similar.

I read the plot now and think it would be a perfect tamil movie because of all those disgraces. It’s about a woman who has 3 suitors: a farmer who she knows for a while and who proposed to her in the past, but now must work for her. A soldier and a prosperous and mature bachelor (peprfect role for vijay Sethupathi). She rejects farmer and bachelor’s proposals and elope with the soldier. He is terrible husband and has some issues from the past, and in the end he leaves her and is believed dead. Rich mature bachelor returns and offers his help (because the soldier left a lot of gambling debts and she fears she can lose her farm). When she almost agrees to the marriage the TWIST – the soldier returns and starts treating her badly again. The bachelor has enough and kills the guy. He is arrested and probably dies in the prison. The farmer also has enough and decides to emigrate to America, but is stopped by the heroine who finally understands she always loved him. Happy ending.
So rich bachelor is Vijay Sethupathi, and I want Kathir also to be in the movie, but I’m not sure if he isn’t too young to play the farmer. Not sure who can play the soldier.
