Woo-hoo! Shahrukh and Gauri Shinde put together a great fun cheeky ad campaign that also has some good stuff for us to dig into related to Star Branding. YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!
Shahrukh is doing an ad campaign for men’s hair color, specifically to hide the grey streaks. So, first, he is continuing to do the good work of “men can/should care about their apparance too” that he started by being brand ambassador for Fair and Handsome AND Lux Beauty Soap. And second, AGE APPROPRIATE!!!! This is a campaign built on the underlying acceptance that Shahrukh himself has to battle the greys now.
And on top of that, it’s cheeky! The long form video is a wife rolling her eyes at her husband’s worry over his grey hairs, and then being WOWED when he does something about it. Man are vain, but also, you can still please your wife if you make an effort.
The short form videos are just Shahrukh saying a famous SRK line with a twist to make it about hair dye. While in a perfect black suit and black hair. Being old isn’t something to worry about, laugh at it, buy hair dye, and be cool like him.
And then, a song video!!!!!! A black and white intense song video, only it’s about HAIR DYE!!! Again, poking fun. The concept is “we know that you know that hair dye can’t really change your life forever. We are just saying it can change your life a little bit, give it a shot, don’t be ashamed, it’s not a big deal”.

The music video is fun, feel like this is the first time in forever we’ve gotten to see him moving around naturally onscreen instead of just still talking to the camera. Cheeky french braid he has going on there. Looking good – though he also seems to be using more filters and lighting tricks these days to stay young, right?
Seeing him dance around makes me want to see him actually acting again, of course. Though on the other hand, it must be a relief not to have a film scheduled for release this summer.

I was thinking fillers too. And actually it made me feel better. remember how there was that period when we were all “OMG, what’s happening? He looks so gaunt and tired and thin!” Now I am thinking, that was us in shock at seeing his actual Old Man face, instead of the smoothed out filler version we usually see.

I like to smile and I love to smile at & about ShahRukh…so, it’s perfect for me…the ads and the song! No seconf thoughts about him looking as young as possible because he IS young where it counts 🙂
