Happy Birthday Ranveer!!!! Thank goodness, I need some happiness after a stressful hot difficult weekend. Fireworks everywhere all weekend, dog was miserable and I got little sleep, super super hot, moving heavy furniture, UGH! But now, Ranveer is here to save me.

I have multiple wishes for him!

  1. Another serious realistic role like Gully Boy to challenge him

2. A fun light rom-com where he plays an adult person instead of a man-boy

I want him as he is at the end of Befikre, after he’s all grown up, but like from the start of the movie.

  1. I think we’ve got the romcom down already! Just announced this morning: Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. Ranveer and Alia pairing. Also with Dharmendra (!), Jaya, and Shabana Azmi. Directed by Karan (!!). Release in 2022.

    I am excited but I am also trying to keep my expectations in check. I hated ADHM, so with Karan at the helm, we might still get man-boy Ranveer. But I loved his jodi with Alia in Gully Boy, and I’ve wanted to see her in another romcom for a while. Hopefully this turns out good.

    But yes, also Deepveer baby is high on my list as well.

    • I saw that too and had the same reaction you did because I HATED ADHM. It might be tied with KANK as my least favorite Karan movies!

      • I’m more excited about the older casting tbh. Have Dharam-Jaya ever played a couple? Getting Jaya back after so long and Shabana being in Dharma, I’m hoping they all have meaty roles!

        • Unless there is some obscure movie that I haven’t seen, I don’t think they have ever been a couple. They were also in Sholay and Chupke Chupke but in both she was paired with Amitabh!

  3. I want another juicy villain role. He was so much fun to watch in Padmaavat. Genuinely scary and stopping just short of over the top. I like him in gray or dark roles more than when he does manboy or wholesome hero (except for DDD, but that was in its moment, we can move on). Leave the wholesome hero or comic action types to Varun, Ranveer can do complexity and layers like few of his peers.

    • Oh, that would be GREAT!!!! How about a sympathetic anti-hero? Classic “best friends who end up on opposite sides” kind of plot? I don’t know who the hero would be, someone boring, but Ranveer could be the tortured dude who turns to crime but you kind o understand why.

      • Yes, he would be great at the forced into criminality to protect his family type character – the underdog who turns out to be more honest in his own way than the corrupt elites.

        Or a vengeance type straight up villain who was damaged in childhood and has lost all belief in justice – up against a female good guy who he ultimately accepts losing to because he wants to believe she’s right.

  4. I would wish more people to acknowledge Ranveer’s talent & range instead of swearing by stupid Ranbir Kapoor’s man-child roles. I also want a good, modern day romance movie of DeepVeer before the baby.

    • What about a modern day romance of DeepVeer during pregnancy? Wouldn’t that be fun? Something like, Dips gets pregnant on a one night stand and hires aspiring actor Ranveer to pretend to be her husband when her family visits, planning to tell them all he “died” and then be a single widow mother so far as her conservative parents are concerned? And then of course Ranveer and Dips fall in love and it’s all very romantic and sweet.
