Happy Monday! I just scheduled a work call for 8:30am and then another for 9am. I have a baaaaaaaaad feeling that this will be how the whole day goes. Oh well, at least I have y’all and your questions to distract me.

    • NOOOOO!!! To both these things! I tried to follow the wiki synopsis of the novel when Ratnam first announced the remake and I got just totally confused. I have small faith in my ability to understand the movie.

      And of course, I always want you to be at watchalong!!!

  3. I think I’m interested in people mostly based on current projects. Like a year ago I might not have put Kriti and Vaani on the list but now I’d be curious. Taapsee too.

    • Makes sense. And conversely, I am less interested in Varun this year, for example, because his projects aren’t that interesting.

  4. I have some fun news to share: I visited Ladakh this week and went to Pangong Lake!! This is the famous lake where 3 idiots climax was shot…also the same lake where Jab Tak Hain Jaan’s opening was shot (SRK saves Anushka from drowning in this lake)….the lake was stunning…more beautiful than what can be captured on camera.

    But getting to the lake is hell. You have to land in Leh – spend 3 days acclimatizing there…then drive 5 hours to the lake through bumpy unpaved mountain roads. You also have to cross a mountain pass that is 17,000 feet above sea level. When I got there I nearly fainted and needed oxygen to recover. It is also an active military zone so you need to arrange for permits and pass through several checkpoints. Not to mention you have to deal with the snow and freezing cold weather.

    Throughout the journey I kept wanting to give up…just turn around and go back. But I told myself that Yash Chopra made this journey when he was 80yrs old to shoot his movie…so if he can do it, I can do it…it makes me appreciate his dedication even more!

    • So cool! And I am so impressed. I got sick just going from Bombay to Pune. I don’t know if I would have been dedicated enough to do all of this just to see a lake.

    • This is incredible! Thank you for sharing it with us. I am so envious (except for the altitude sickness and five hour car ride).

      What did you do once you got there? Do you just gaze at the beauty of the lake? Can you stay there or is it too high?

      • I don’t know what Shreyans did, but you can actually sit and gaze at the lake from sunrise to sunset and see the view change with time, it’s incredible! Photography enthusiasts do that. You can spend most of the day driving around the lake, just make sure not to enter the Chinese territory 😛

        • I spent about an hour at the lake…walked around…gazed at the lake…had some tea at one of the makeshift hut dhabas…
          P.S. you can’t drive around anymore…because of the border issues, the military only allows tourists in one section.

    • Hope you had a great trip! Ladakh was one of the best travel experiences of my life. Also memorable because it was the first time I was responsible for the planning and preparation for our group of 7, so I was nervous as well! Obvious beauty of the place aside, it was an unforgettable adventure. It was 2013, so obviously JTHJ was on my mind (it was also on tv at a hotel we stayed at). The scenes were all playing in my head as we traveled the area.

      • Planning for Ladakh is a really high place to start your vacation management! “high” in two ways I guess. But it’s not like “I’ll find a luxury hotel in Hawaii for us all” and then you sit by the pool drinking fruit juice and relaxing.

        • I know, right?!! Had to make sure that we didn’t gain too much altitude in a short time, keeping days for acclimatization, not staying overnight at high altitude places, etc. Still had to spend one freezing night in a makeshift camp (due to unforeseen circumstances), was probably the coldest I ever felt! But the group was very proud of me when it all went well (except my cousin, everyone was older than me). I felt I had done adulting right!
