Friday WatchAlong: What Time, What Movie? I Have Decision Fatigue!!!

Happy Tuesday! I saw Om Shanti Om IN THEATERS last night! It was the weirdest thing, this very esoteric and pretentious film group in Chicago randomly has a reel of it and they showed it in the most esoteric and pretentious way. But whatever, me and my friends hooted and danced along as you are supposed to. And today, I am sleepy.

It’s December, so I do want something broadly Christmas-y. Snow, babies, stables, something.

I also want something people will/can watch! I know we all have a lot going on (FilmiKudhi is gonna have a baby by this weekend, by golly! Even if she has to reach in there and drag him out! FK, you also have to tell us when it happens so we can stop waiting and wondering), so I want something that would be fun and enjoyable and happy. And I am at a loss.

Jab Tak Hain Jaan? Snow? We can yell at the stupid?

Dilwale? Christmas? Silly and fun?

Miracle on 34th Street? Christmassy and family and love?

I’m also at a loss with time. Time is hard. So, you pick. Friday or Saturday, what is best?

  1. You saw Om Shanti Om in the theater!?! Ooooh jealousy…. I so want to know how its presentation was pretentious.

I can try not to have seven kids at my house this Friday, easier because it isn’t minimum day (the guilt of being the only stay at home mom I know leads me to offer to watch other people’s children ALL THE TIME). I will have to leave at 4:45 Chicago time to pick up childrens, but that shouldn’t take more than half an hour. Jab Tak Hain Jaan looks fun.

    • Done! I just got a call from the garage about bringing my car in to be repaired, I didn’t even remember it was broken any more. TOO MUCH HAPPENING! Thank you for taking this question off my plate at least.

  2. That’s so cool that you got to see Om Shanti Om in the theaters again! I’m curious how they made that movie of all movies pretentious though?

    • They spent 5 minutes talking about the film. Like, the actual physical film. Apparently, it was 35 mm not 70 mm, and was set to be made into a large reel for a single projector, not split for a two projector. Any minor interest I might have had didn’t exist because I worked at a movie theater and knew all about physical film already. Absolutely no discussion of the content of the movie. Sigh.

      • Oh wow, that’s weird. Like when you have an old school style masala movie like Om Shanti Om and don’t even talk about the content of the movie.
