Saturday Small Talk: Chat Away While I Comfort Albie Dog

Happy Saturday! Apparently, there were massive wind storms last night, including deadly tornados in southern IL. The only affect on me is that Albie Dog woke me up at 5am and again at 7am and then insisted on climbing all the way into my arms and hiding most of the morning. Apparently, he had a hard night.

Things to talk about!

Vickat, of course, always. Haldi ceremony, and first sighting of Kat’s Mom and sisters!

And Vicky’s version:

In other news, it’s Dilip Sahib’s first birthday since his death. So, let’s look at his cute wedding photos!

GETTING MARRIED WITH SAIRA BANO | Indian bollywood actress, Most beautiful indian actress, Beautiful indian actress
Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu's eternal love story that spanned 55 years | The Times of India

And finally, Karan announced the launch of a motion poster for Brahmastra on December 12. Who believes this movie will actually release in the next 12 months? Not me!

      • It was lightweight and fluffy, if it had been about a straight couple it would have been meh, but it’s such a relief to have a happy ending for gay men, total family acceptance etc. Even if a bit sanitised (no sex and l still think James was unfeasibly nice). Next I’d like gay superheroes saving the world and getting it on please! Come on, Waschowskis!

    • What I liked is they had an imperfect family (sister squables with mom, parents interfere in love life, teen girls are obsessed with their phones) and showed the family as the perfection of love. Great acting by veteran actors, hilarious credit song, and beautiful men with an amazing kiss. So even if it weren’t a gay romance, I would have liked it.

  1. There is a ticketed event to launch the motion poster??? Isn’t that a bit excessive? I think that they will have a series of events for the trailer launch, song launch, etc. And then right before the movie releases, Alia-Ranbir will get married as the ultimate movie promotion tactic like they did in old Hollywood times…

Kat-Vicky photos look great! I do think it’s interesting that Katrina went fully traditional Indian in terms of the clothes/events etc…considering that she didn’t grow up in India and none of her family members have ties to India…does she feel Indian at heart? I am curious to know…

    • I know this is weird of me but I’m fixated on the fact that she chose brown skin tone for her little emoji hands.

But they both look beautiful and happy and I wish them the best.

And if I were Kat I would probably go full traditional Indian wedding too. If you didn’t grow up with a particular attachment to a religious tradition, or if you’re rejecting the one you grew up with, I think you go towards what is meaningful for the other person and their family. Especially if that’s the culture you live in and have chosen to become a part of.

      • I was thinking the same kind of thing. From what Kat has said, her childhood was very nomadic. India is the first place she has felt a strong cultural bond and sense of home, and she’s visited Hindu temples and other places like that before this relationship. So I could believe it is meaningful for both of them at this point. Perhaps a tiny slap in the face towards her mother who runs a Christian missionary charity school, but what bride hasn’t done a tiny slap in the face toward their parent?

  2. I feel like personally Bhramastra will never release. Its so interesting that Ponniyin Selvan (another ambitious movie which was announced in 2018 to release in 2022) has finished filming but this i’m not even sure whether its finished its filming. I want it to do well as I love all of Ayan’s movies but I feel like everyone doesn’t have any hope. Hopefully the movie will be more of a Mughal E Azam than a Jagga Jasoos in terms of box office.

VicKat photos look great. I love that they shared photos with family and the photos genuinely look as if its taken off guard (even if it isn’t).

Also talking about Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu has been suffering from depression due to his death. It is very sad if you read up on it.

  3. I find it odd that the announcement is signed Ranbir, Alia and Ayan. Shouldn’t Ayan be the first name? Or poor producers who spend so much money on this film?
“Our” Poster, “our” Siva.. It’s strange and confirms my doubts about this film. I think it’ll be a disater.

    • But I have to do SO MUCH! When am I going to find the time to also watch this movie???? I’ve got a gingerbread making party on Saturday, I’m hosting a party in honor of my new couch on Friday, I still have to wrap and mail presents, and drop off presents to locals. UGH! I was happy when it was going to be transphobic and I could ignore it!!!!

(you wouldn’t know what it is like to be busy, you only have a baby, I have CHRISTMAS)

      • Ha! I have been so bad with Christmas this year! I don’t even have my tree up yet and my house does not look like a magical wonderland! And I think I might have just signed up to host Christmas with my family and the husband’s family at my house. Baby SRK is going to have to learn to take care of himself for a little bit! He is so needy; it’s like he can’t do anything on his own! Sheesh!
