2021 Awards: Best AR Rahman Song! Of Allllllllll the Songs in Atrangi Re and 99 Songs, Which is BEST?

I know there has to be AR Rahman songs I’m ignoring. But on the limited DCIB list, we’ve just got the two films and about 20 songs.

“O Aashiqui”

“Humnawaa”

“Nayi Nayi”

“Jwalamukhi”

“Teri Nazar”

“Sai Shirdi Sai”

“Soja Soja”

“Sofia”

“Rait Zara Se”

“Chaka Chak”

“Tere Rang”

“Little Little”

“Tumnein Mohabbat Hai”

“Garda”

For me, no contest, “Little Little”!!! But I don’t trust my musical taste, what do you think?

    • Oh shooT! Adding now. This is all so complicated, I don’t know how the Academy does it.

  1. #1 Sai Shirdi Sai
with Chaka Chak as a runner up.

In truth I find most of his music overdone and boring at the same time. Perhaps not understanding the words matters. But with Sai Shirdi Sai it starts out simple but becomes more interesting as it progresses. The singer’s voice becomes like a violin, soaring and dipping and swinging through the music. Truly an incredible singer and an incredible recording. Chaka Chak starts out awesome, but by the end of the song I’m a little bored of it, it gets repetetive and drops the musical interests it started with.

I loved the Little Little in the movie, it was so fun. But outside of the movie, just listening to it, it’s boring.

    • FAscinating! I didn’t even remember Sai Shirdi from the movie, but now two people are picking it out as the best song.

      • If it were the impact of the song IN a movie I would choose Little Little (I didn’t see 99 songs). So my choices are simply from listening, no plot or actors involved.

  2. My vote is for Soja Soja (which I didn’t recognize at first because I know it as Poyisonna Posikiduven). Love the drama of that song, it’s original and fun to listen to.

I can see why you like Little, Little. From Atrangi Re, though, my choice would be Toofan Si Kudi, with Garda a close second.

  3. Tere Rang! With Little Little coming in second for me.

I thought I had seen 99 Songs but it turns out I had confused it with Sarvam Thaala Mayam.
