Saturday Small Talk: Chat Away While I Resist the Urge to Do Things

Happy Saturday! What I WANT to do is my annual Easter sort and clean up the closets and organize the storage room and then load up my car and drive over to Goodwill and the Habitat for Humanity store donate it all. But what I will actually try to make myself do is sit on the couch and color my little pictures. Sigh.

Things to talk about!

Well, the Alia-Ranbir wedding photos obviously.

I am sick of the Kapoor side, so I headed over to Pooja’s instagram for the Bhatt side of things.

My favorite bit of her posts, her “best of the best” comment while getting her photo taken with Shashi’s sons. Because, as we all know, they are the Best Kapoors.

My favorite bit of Alia’s post is that she mentions “Ayan playing DJ” first thing. Very classical “I dance and sing as my love marries another” vibe.

And finally, a photo a friend sent me with instructions to zoom in on the far far left. Epic side eye from random passerby!

Let’s see, what else to talk about? Oh, what are y’all doing for Passover/Easter????

For Passover, tonight my upstairs friends are having a big family dinner and debating what take out to get. Very complicated because the little sister is both Celiac and vegetarian. Equally difficult dietary demands as if they were actually keeping Kosher.

For Easter, my parents are coming over tomorrow and I am seeing them in person for the first time since I got sick. They ordered a special Easter lamb dinner thing that they are bringing over and I am going to ask them to flip my couch cushions and change my sheets and vacuum. And resist the urge to ask them to clear out my storage unit. Oh, and my two year old nephew and his family are going to do an Easter Egg hunt at my aunt’s! I am very excited to see photos of this, I do not think he has the intelligence to find any eggs. He still struggles to eat with a spoon.

  1. How are you feeling noww? Glad to hear about parents coming over. Mine just left this evening and while I’ll miss them I also feel grateful that I have them to miss if you know what I mean?

Also, did you know you have a dedicated knowledge panel to your name? Once I come to your site, Google suggests I look up your name (plus other film related options) and I realize there’s already an associated entity to that search with your photo and everything. You’re really famous! 😀😀

    • I was tired yesterday, and I have energy today. But everything says I shouldn’t overdue even when I feel better. I mean, I feel fine, it’s just that walking the dog around the block makes me short of breath and exhausted like I climbed 6 flights of stairs. But if I’m sitting on the couch watching TV, I feel no different than any other day.

More important question, what are you doing for your First Mother’s Day?????

      • So nice of you to ask — you’re the first person to and I took a day to think what I might like to do for Mother’s Day and I now appreciate the concept of breakfast in bed sooooo much more.

I’d also like a day free of exhaustion and pains. I’ve been wanting to get fit since the baby came as I ache everywhere and I’m constantly tired and exercise is supposed to help with all this… But how are you supposed to move when you’re tired! So I’d like a day of not feeling so achy and full of energy and enthusiasm for all that the day is!! Thanks for asking, Margaret.

        • You’ll get there! Wait until the 6 month mark, when the baby is less breakable and more independent. And then you can be one of those cool moms with a jogging stroller.

        • Awe! I hope you get a break from the pain and exhaustion also! I totally forgot that I can get a massage now! Maybe you can get one also or anything else that makes you happy!

  2. I found another reason to dislike Neetu. When I first saw the outfit she wore for the wedding I thought: A brave choice for a widow. Don’t get me wrong, I think everybody can wear what he/she wants, but with weddings it’s a little tricky. I personally loved her lengha because it’s colorful and joyful but it didn’t look like the best choice for the mother of the groom. Now, after having seen that the bride and almost all the guest were wearing white/ cream/ silver colours I wonder what was Neetu thinking?

  3. Resist that urge and carry on colouring. Today I have laid in bed, on the sofa a la conumptive heroine oft Maugham story, and laid in the grass on my lawn/hayfield. Two years into long covid and had to start over due to lack of ability to reist Doing Things. Colouring is good, keep at it. What was the theme for this wedding btw, pale/stale? Pshaw.

  4. We went to a hotel with my in-laws. Saw the castle where Martin Luther first translated the Bible into German and a place where they fix up old steam trains, and most importantly: We ate at a place that actually calls itself “Bollywood Indian Restaurant”. Film stills on every wall and surprisingly decent food.

    • Is the Big Boy into stream trains? I know my nephew would be all over that place.

      • He LOVED exploring that place with his uncle. Only in the end did he get angry with us because we wouldn’t let him run around the area with the deep trenches.

  5. Thar trailer dropped!!! Looks very interesting. Kinda love that Harsh is going for these anti-hero roles, because he could very easily do the massy Hero roles, but instead goes for these interesting ones instead. 😀

  6. Nice movies are coming. I’m very excited:

Vijay Sethupathi in a love triangle. The trailer is not the best but I liked it because there is nothing better than cute Vijay in romantic role (28 April 2022)

A feminist comedy with Ranveer. I love him in this trailer. (13 May 2022)

Nani and Nazriya in a sweet rom-com. Super excited for this one: (10 June 2022)
