There was a performance! By Shiamak Davar’s dance troupe. Well, 30 members of his dance troupe. Ooooooo-kay. So, like, a slightly smaller deal than when Amitabh opens a restaurant? I mean, Shiamak’s troupe is good, it’s where Shahid Kapoor got his start. But it’s also way more than 30 dancers, and it’s who you hire to back-up the big star, not who you hire to actually be the stars of the show!

Speaking of Shahid, he wasn’t there. And neither was Aamir, although he was promoted as being there. Well, maybe he was, but he wasn’t photographed and also he somehow was at another party the exact same night. And neither was Amitabh. Unless he wasn’t photographed, and also was somehow tweeting the entire time he was there.
Speaking of Amitabh, apparently before the royal couple came out, the crowd was jokingly told to stay calm and not mob them! Which is a bit confusing, since, like, Madhuri was there. And so was Shahrukh. I really think they aren’t going to be “over-whelmed” by royalty. I also don’t think that, if Shahrukh is in the room, the crowd is going to be really super excited by basically anyone else. When you’ve got that level of stars in the room, they aren’t really going to be impressed by anyone.
For instance, this is what Amitabh was doing at the same time that Wills and Kate were getting ready for their party. Which is the same thing that happens for him every single Sunday. I just don’t really see his daughter-in-law being super excited by meeting royalty.
Oh, and a few more photos from the red carpet. Which, you will notice, include a bunch of A- stars, but no real A listers. Where’s Akshay, Ajay, Sanjay, Saif, or any Kapoor (Raj Kapoor family I mean, not Anil-Boney)?

(All the Kapoors together! It’s not unheard of for Sonam, Arjun, and Anil to hang out together, but it is unusual. Do you think no one else from the family came? Like not even Anil’s wife? Or do you think they just weren’t photographed? I am leaning towards the first option, it doesn’t exactly look like the kind of blow out party that everyone is going to want to swing an invite for)

I almost wonder if there was a last minute change. Plenty of reports listed that Aamir, Amitabh, and Rishi would be guaranteed attendees. And then none of them showed. Amitabh stayed home and tweeted about Kollam, maybe he thought it would be inappropriate to celebrate at this time?
Or maybe they were all there and the organizers didn’t think to get photographs of them! That would be a real fail.

Finally, someone who was actually inside (or at least talked to people who were), has come out with an article! It looks like my guesses were spot on, super restricted guest list, constant repetition of the rules everyone had to follow, bland floor show which was made even odder since the actual stars who did the original numbers were present watching someone else perform, cell phones and selfie sticks collected at the beginning of the night, no table hoping allowed, and everyone fled the venue as soon as humanly possible after it was over. Oh, and the crowd at front couldn’t care less about the royals, but freaked out when everyone else started to leave. Worst of all, a lackluster vegetarian Thali was the only good offered!

Rishi Kapoor was there with Neetu Kapoor (as per her Insta “neetu54”).
Mobiles had to have been allowed because for example – Manish Malhotra and Neetu’s Insta pics and Sonam’s snapchats.

Yes, I think the dance floor was the big fail. That, and the lack of food and (I think?) alcohol. They should have just made it a big crazy party, had the royals there for the first couple hours, and then let everyone else dance the night away. No floor show, this guest list would rather dance themselves than watch anyone else.
Clearly, next time they visit India, they should hire me to organize the whole thing!
