If We Do Friday WatchAlong on Saturday Afternoon the 26th, Would Anyone Join Me?

Christmas is FRIDAY!!!! I am SO EXCITED! We will open presents and sit around the TV fireplace and go for a nice walk through the neighborhood. And dress the dog in a variety of adorable and uncomfortable outfits. But, in all those plans, there is no slot for a Friday WatchAlong. What To Do?

I kind of want to do a watchalong on Saturday afternoon/middat. So we can sleep in post-Christmas, and then have something fun to look forward to after all the celebrations are over. But, does anyone else feel the same way?

Post-Christmas Saturday lazy watchalong? Eating leftover Christmas dessert and wearing our fuzzy Christmas slippers and Christmas bathrobes? Watching something real real dumb and fun that is yet to be determined?

Currently my top choice for fun dumb holiday fare.

Is anyone interested, or will you want to devout your time to your family so we should just skip until next week? Next week, of course, we WILL be watching Happy New Year.

  1. Nope, it’s Boxing Day and I’m hosting. So Coolie no.1 is a good choice, though I think nobody can compare the two versions for me so that will be a shame.

Will I ever stop laughing at that version of Husn ha Suhana? The answer is no.

    • I’m thinking I might watch the original on fast forward in like an hour. Just to have some idea of it.

      • The first part is fine, it doesn’t get really bad until after the marriage. But I can’t remember what parts of that to fast forward because I can’t stand it. Also, always fast forward Shakti Kapoor after the first scene (so you know how awful he is).

  2. I’ll join whenever. Want to test out my new system. But it can’t be Mirzya which is neither dumb not fun. I’m down with a comedy as long as Brahmanandam isn’t in it.
Psyched for Happy New Year. Abhishek was so funny in it.

  3. If it’s early enough in the afternoon, I can probably join. Will most likely be seeing my boyfriend on Saturday (yes, I have a boyfriend now), but no official plans as of yet. If it’s Coolie though, I’ll probably sit out. Just made plans to watch it over Zoom with a friend next week.

And I’d probably stop following this blog if next week’s movie wasn’t Happy New Year. With the timing, it’s absolutely perfect.

    • Absolutely! One of our readers (I think Sal?) watches Happy New Year every year, so that is where I got the idea.

I figured you would be sitting out Coolie in favor of a more celebratory moment!!! And Congrats on the relationship!

      • Yep, that’s me although I watched something different last NYE (don’t remember what). So it’s definitely time for a viewing this NY.

And duh, I didn’t read the original post properly and thought we’d be watching Varun Coolie. Duh.

  4. The 8-year-old will be turning 9 that day so I won’t be able to attend. But in all honesty even without the birthday, with the holiday I would probably be out for the whole weekend. I look forward to watch-a-longs in 2021!

    • Aaaa! He’s gonna be 9??? That’s a Big Boy. You are going to have two Big Boys and only one Little Boy. And next year, you are going to have a Big Boy, a Little Boy, and a TEENAGER!!!!!

      • I know that they seem really big to people with toddlers and preschoolers. But when you are with them all the time, they really don’t seem that big. NOT AT ALL like adults. That said the teen years coming up scare me, especially when I think of grocery bills.

        • When I was a toddler and preschooler, they seemed big! 9 and up were Big Kids, 8 and down are Little Kids. And 14 and Up are High School.

You won’t have 3 teenagers simultaneously, right? The middle one turns 14 the year the big one moves out, and then the littlest one turns 14 the year the middle one moves out? In theory. You could be lucky and get an extra few years.

      • He dances with the dog and the dog is indeed taller. I think Hux is still heavier but it’s only a matter of time. Then the tide will turn. 9 months for a dog is like 9 years for a human so I have twins!
