Box office figures are out for last week/weekend! No big surprises here. Everything did about what you would expect it to do. But it is still nice to have that confirmation!
First, Airlift. Dropped a bit more than I was expecting, the second weekend figures were less hovering around 10 crore, and more around 6-8 crore. But it is still going fairly strong in India and UAE, as well as doing decently on its few screens in North America. Worldwide total is now at 165.66, still on track to break 200 crore by the end of it’s run.
Mastizaade opened last weekend (blech!), and is doing unfortunately well. It’s apparently Sunny Leone’s most successful film of her career. It’s only at 26.36 crore at the moment, but it has been growing slightly every day. As I mentioned with KKHH3, Grand Masti is the sex comedy to beat, and that opened to 40 crore on its opening weekend. So 26.36 crore isn’t bad. It’s not great, but it’s not outside the realm of standard profit.
Saala Khadoos opened to only 14.19 crore. However, that is without international figures added in (and my own particular ticket, as I was unable to see it and had to settle for something worse instead). And I think it is counting Hindi only? It was of course released simultaneously in Tamil. Anyway, it definitely proves my argument that calling Madhavan a box office draw based on Tanu Weds Manu Returns is crazy!
