Stars on the Move: Aamir, Katrina, and Vidya

Different kinds of moving for them all, but all of them are moving about!  And all 3 of them are so important, that any time they move, the whole industry has to move a little bit with them.

Aamir’s birthday is coming up, yay!  I can’t believe I forgot!  After last year’s super exciting “All the Khans turn 50!”, now we have the kind of boring “I guess now they are 51?” year.  But his family still cares, even if the press doesn’t quite as much, and his mother has apparently requested that he be back home in Bombay in time to celebrate his birthday with her.  Which means yet another delay on the filming of Dangal.  According to Indian Express, he is in London right now, visiting Junaid who is in film school there (can you believe Aamir has a 21 year old son?), and trying to lose weight so he can play the younger version of his character for some flashback scenes in the film.  But he will be leaving about a week and a half earlier than expected, so he can be with his mother for his birthday.  Dangal already had a pretty tight schedule, it’s supposed to be the Christmas release next year and it’s not even moved into post-production yet, so even this little delay could cause some issues.  But hopefully not, because Aamir always releases his movies on Christmas!  It just wouldn’t feel right if he had to move it to Republic Day or Valentine’s instead.

(this is presumably his older look for the film.  Or else he is still in character as Santa Clause)

Meanwhile, Katrina is moving apartments again.  Apparently, she kept her old place when she moved in with Ranbir, and now that they are broken up, she moved back.  Only there is a leak issue and she wants to get a different apartment.  Or maybe it is less of a leak issue and more of a “depressing break-up memories” issue.  Either way, she’s apartment hunting!

But that’s not the important part of this story.  The important part is that she is being assisted in her house-hunting by Salman Khan’s manager, Reshma Shetty.  Now, there’s a decent chance that this is a total none story.  Presumably Katrina got to know Reshma back when she and Salman where dating, I am sure someone who helps manage team-Salman has the business savvy and experience to be a useful second set of eyes when house-hunting.  Or it could even be that Salman, with whom she has always maintained a friendly relationship, suggested that his manager assist her.  Or, as we all immediately thought when we heard this, THEY ARE BACK TOGETHER!!!  SALMAN-KAT 4EVER!  Maybe it is even that his manager is helping her look for a place for the two of them!!!!!  Or not.  But maybe.  But probably not.

katrina kaif, katrina kaif news, katrina kaif latest news, salman khan, salman khan manager, katrina kaif house hunting, katrina kaif salman khan, katrina kaif salman manager, katrina kaif salman news, salman khan news, salman khan katrina latest news, entertainment news

(I do not look this cool and well put together when I am apartment hunting.  Maybe I would if I had Salman Khan’s manager to take care of all the stressful parts)

And then Vidya is moving around as well, but more in a sort of artistic metaphorical way.  I just talked about in my post on Classmates how when the Hindi industry is stagnating, the talented folks might start looking elsewhere.  And apparently Vidya Balan, Tabu, and Genelia D’Souza were all in a movie with Prithvi (speaking of Classmates…) back in 2011 in the Malayalam industry?  Which would go right along with that, because I think all 3 of those women are enormously talented, and the Hindi industry has been failing to give them the kinds of roles they deserve.

Anyway, this particular movie is apparently a period piece set during the 1600s when the Portuguese first arrived.  And since the success of Bahubali proved that both huge costume epics, and dubbed regional films, can find an audience, the producer is looking at dubbing and re-releasing the movie nationally.  I am psyched!  I assume nationally also means “internationally”?  I am totally down for seeing Tabu, Vidya, and Genialia being awesome in period costumes on the big screen.  Although if I can find it streaming before then, I am also totally down for watching them wearing period clothes and being awesome on my laptop.

(I couldn’t decide between my top favorite images, so I put sword-wielding Genelia down here, and stuck the huge poster up at the top of the post.)

  1. I had seen the movie back in 2011. Tabu makes an appearance during a song. And that’s it for her.Vidya has 2 (small) roles. She plays a mysterious oracle and a social worker.Oh yes, there’s a song for her too.The movie was not up to my expectations. But if you go by Bahubali’s standards you won’t be much disappointed.Genelia sparkles throughout as a feisty Muslim princess.Nithya Menon gives a decent performance too.Amol gupte (Stanley ka dabba, Taare zameen par) plays the part of her father, a king totally under the thumbs of his gay minister.Yes, the director has a taste for sword maidens and waterfalls. As he’s cinematographer by profession, the visuals are as usual spellbinding and the songs are hummable.
