HAPPY AAMIR DAY!!! I will be putting up a “Why I love Aamir” post later today, and sometime tomorrow I will try to summarize all the many many Aamir Day news items. But first, let us all take a moment to applaud how much better he looks at 51 than he did at 50. And how much better he looks every single day of his life, than he does in the picture at the head of this post.
Last year’s Aamir Day was greeted with the world going “Whoa! What happened to his body?!?!?” It was so bad that most articles captioned the birthday picture with an explanation that he was gaining weight for the Dangal role. He had to look convincing as an over the hill former wrestler with 3 teenage daughters.

(It was not good)
And then a year later, his birthday photos are once again being greeted by “Whoa! WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS BODY?!?!?” Only this time, the explanation provided is that they are shooting the final flashback sequences of the film and he needs to look like a young and in his prime wrestler. And also, he went to a special spa in London for the past 6 weeks (cut short to come home to celebrate with his family). Apparently, all together, he has lost 13 kilos in the past 6 months and still has 12 kilos together. And if you, like me, do not understand kilos, that’s 28 pounds. Which doesn’t sound that impressive, except that Aamir is so tiny to begin with, 28 pounds/13 kilos really makes a difference! And he’s still got another 12 kilos/26 pounds to go!

(I like his hair better this year too, but I don’t know how I feel about the mustache)
I think I like the new mustache!

I think I like it better than the Mangal Panday mustache (see top of post), but not as much as the Talaash mustache. It’s just slightly too Hercule Poirot.
