Finally, the only thing I really care about, the Royals went to the Asian Trust charity party and got to meet famous people!  So many pictures! (I’ll be posting more as they come up)

I continue to be fascinated by how little India actually cares about the visit.  I mean, not that they don’t care at all, but when I posted my earlier thing, after they’d been in the country for several hours, it wasn’t even trending on twitter and it didn’t make the Times of India homepage.  In both cases, it was beat by a story about Anant Ambani (Mukesh and Nita’s youngest) losing a ton of weight, 108 kilograms!  Which is exciting for him, I’m sure, but in most places it would come in second to a story about the future king and queen of England visiting.  Even more interesting, he is apparently throwing a 21st birthday party tonight, and about half the Bollywood royalty opted to go there instead of to the Royal event.

RoyalVisitIndia is trending now, but it is second to KKRvsDD (Kolkata Knight Riders versus Delhi Daredevils).  Even Shahrukh tweeted that he was glad to meet the royals, but was sorry to miss the game!

I suspect the only reason it is trending at all, is because there is finally news coming out about the party for the famous people!  First, most importantly, Karan and Shahrukh reunion on the red carpet!

Aish was there as well, of course, but I’m not sure yet if her family chose to come with her.  I would have thought Amitabh would be a sure bet.  Maybe there is lingering resentment because of his family’s freedom fighter past?  Actually, a lot of these stars, including SRK, had relatives who were active in the Quit India movement.  Do you think Shahrukh met the Royals and said something about “Oh hey, remember when your government threw my father in jail so often that he had to flee Lahore and move to Delhi?”

He didn’t seem terribly impressed by them anyway.  I mean, normal polite impressed, not falling all over himself about it though: “Is it OK to say she’s extremely beautiful and elegant? Well, she is! If they spend more time here I think they’ll love it. I could definitely show them a good time! I’ll take them out.”

To be fair, based on this photo, he was talking to Kate while standing between Aish and Madhuri, so the bar for impressive women was already set pretty high.

It’s an interesting collection of people who showed up for this thing, as you can see below, lots of starlets and up and comers.  Not so many big names.  Salman was at Anant Ambani’s 21st birthday party, not sure where Aamir and Amitabh were.  They could have even been there, it just wasn’t promoted as much!  But in the official photo posted on the Kensington Palace twitter, we have Parineeta, Jacqueline, Huma Qureshi (I think), Aditi Rao Hydari, Manish Malhotra, Wills and Kate, and 2 women I can’t even recognize.  The one on the end looks really familiar, but I can’t put my finger on it!  So, not really the biggest names in the city.  Not really sure why this was the photo chosen to be posted instead of the one above?  Maybe they went for quantity over quality.
