This is fun! Kind of a “state of the studio” post, looking at where Red Chillies came from and where it is now, post the release of Badla.Continue reading
I don’t even care, I’m just doing posts that are fun for me! We all know Shahrukh’s top TOP movies, but what are the lessor known films that are still surprisingly decent?Continue reading
First, most importantly, ANGIE! And all other Maddy Fans! Maddy is in it for about 15 minutes cumulatively and all he does is stand there looking solid and sensitive in glasses with shaggy hair. Barely has a character. But looks quite good. Everyone else: this movie was a disappointment, but probably still more enjoyable if you go in fresh than if you go in SPOILED. This review is for those who absolutely cannot see it in theaters, or who have already seen it and want to discuss.Continue reading
I don’t think anyone has formed a definitive answer to this before? Or, perhaps, even been brave enough to pose the question!!! But I feel like if anyone is qualified to answer such a vital open research topic, it is the DCIB community.
This is a variation on the game I put up on the morning post. But now it is specific to one actor and the characters they play.
Another Shahrukh repost! Dear Zindagi, a reminder of what happens when he takes a step back and lets his heroine take the lead. Okay, he always does that, but even more than usual.
I wrote 3 reviews of Raees in rapid succession, before doing a detailed scene by scene. For us all to have a chance to remember it and talk about it before Zero, I am going to combine all 3 reviews in one handy place! Even with the combining, BE WARNED!!! This is a LONG review. Continue reading
Yaaaay, another Shahrukh review! See how I am sneaking them in under the guise of “Friday Classics” even now that Shahrukh Month is over? Oh, and plus Juhi in a really nice role, for her birthday. Although Aaina is a better Juhi movie, remember to watch it for this Sunday if at all possible! It’s also a wonderful Amrita Singh movie, if this film makes you want more of her.
This isn’t total fangirly, right? No, I don’t think it is, Shahrukh is an important industry figure and him saying things about the industry is news and worthy of discussion.
I think it’s one of those Big movies that I was avoiding, ones that are really good, and I also really like and I want to be careful to explain why I like them in a way that makes you like them too, not just appreciate their quality.
Happy Jab Harry Met Sejal day! Shahrukh may not have a Diwali release this year, but that just means we get to keep up the celebration for his last film. I’ll be reposting some of my reviews, and the index of coverage, and of course the tweetalong starts at 2pm.
Second post, updated with subtitles and some fan theories from the comments on the first post! And also, just to make sure it didn’t get lost in the flurry of other Shahrukh Day postings.
I just had my usual agonizing ten minutes of deep moral complexity when deciding what milk to buy, and I thought I would walk you all through it so you know that I’m not just insane about overthinking movies, it’s my whole life.
There are a large number of films where he actually is playing his own age, or close to it. But for those few where he is clearly far far distant from the character age, here are my suggestions for how to fix it. It’s not hard, I don’t know why they didn’t just right it this way to begin with!
ZiziStreet/ZiziK is sadly no more, which has greatly lowered the number of high quality Shahrukh fanvids in the world. But there are still some good ones! And it’s a nice fun thing to write about and think about for his birthday month.
A few of us were saying recently how nice we find it to watch Shahrukh interview videos, because he speaks so well and says such nice things. And so I have pulled together a fairly random collection of what I could find on youtube. Feel free to share your favorites in the comments.
I think I’ve referred to this in the past, but I’m not sure I’ve ever put up an actual picture. I’m not kidding when I say I have an actual alter to Shahrukh in my apartment.
Well, I got no sleep, and it is overcast today, and I am very much looking forward to finishing work, going home, leaving again, going to a movie, and then falling into bed for about 20 hours. In the meantime, to keep me going, I am going to post the silliest SRK Photoshoot Photos I can find. And please feel free to post more in the comments if you can find them. (down a line, past in the url of the photo, down another line)
Why over think it, you know? I’m not coming up with a theme or anything like that, I’m just saying out of all the candid photos I can find, these are the ones I like best. Feel free to disagree and post your own suggestions in the comments. Or to skip this post entirely if you can’t stand his face.
I’m not talking about, like, hair clippings. I have never had any luck finding stuff like that. But there is plenty of other mass produced weirdness out there.
Gender is a construct, not a reality. Therefore, Shahrukh Khan, a man, can also have feminine aspects. And those aspects can be a blessing and a wonderful thing to be celebrated.
I know he is already celebrating, but now it is after midnight in America, so it is time for my celebration to start.
And the grand day is finally here! In India. Crowds outside the gate, small family party inside, very different from my last birthday.
As almost always, my sister did a Shahrukh themed problem set for her math class in honor of his birthday. And now I will share it with you, to give you all painful math class flashbacks, and make you wish you were in her class.
