If you are like me, you have long been frustrated with how hard Netflix makes it to find all their Indian titles. OK Kanmani, for instance, I only learned was in their system when I searched for Mani Ratnam specifically. Fandry, I only know is there because moviemavengal reviewed it. If you have also been suffering and cursing their search parameters, I have news!
My sister just pointed me towards a link with instructions on how to search by the most specific possible options including, yes, “Indian movies” is on the list. Wooo!!!!
The full instructions are here.
If, like me, you only care about Indian films, just go to:
http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/10463
(of course, this all may vary country to country and so on and so forth. But it’s got to be better than painstakingly searching actor by actor, trying to see what Malayalam films they may have)
OMG! This is FANTASTIC!!
Also, Kathy Gibson of Access Bollywood keeps track of what’s on Netflix here (with her reviews of films she’s seen.) https://accessbollywood.net/bollywood-movies-streaming-on-netflix/
If you subscribe to Kathy’s posts, she notes what is coming to Netflix, and almost as important, what is leaving. I’ve been able to move movies up on my queue when I know they have one more weekend to view on my Netflix subscription.
Kathy has also started keeping track of movies available for those with an Amazon Prime subscription:

And for those without Netflix – indiancine.ma has Ship of Theseus available for anyone to watch in full – click on their ‘Out of Copyright’ category and arrow down to the bottom of the choices.

Yuch, Ship of Theseus is all deep and stuff with no cute guys or songs! I’ll just watch Student of the Year again instead.
