Well, OBVIOUSLY I am going to write about this! As silly as it is. They put Shahrukh’s face in it, so it’s worth watching.
Well, this is fun! Disney India is leaning heavily on the “Shahrukh did the voice” part of things. I am going to assume that they didn’t do similar voice actor promotions for The Jungle Book (for instance). And they are connecting to Shahrukh’s persona too, the “true king” as his dialogue says in the part where we see his face.
As we have discussed, there’s an odd thing with Shahrukh where he is so powerful and beloved that anything her does is immediately massive news. But at the same time, his actual films get massive bad press because it is profitable to be his enemy. So how do you turn his popularity and star power into something that can help your movie? Maybe by making him “just” a voice actor.
This isn’t a “Shahrukh Khan” movie, this is a Disney movie. And it’s a familiar story and it has great visuals and all of that stuff. Shahrukh is just that little star dusting on top. You get the advantage of the stardust without the disadvantage of folks hating your content because they see it as just part of the star.

But why does his coloring look like he’s dead? Is it supposed to be Africa sepia-ish?

Maybe it’s supposed to be a similar color to the CGI lion?

Ooooh, I love his voice so much, especially this deep, husky thing he does. This reminds me of the trailers for Raees.
When is he going to release that recording of the phone book we so desperately want? π
I hope the Hindi track is on the regular DVD release as it was with The Incredibles.

I can’t decide how I feel about the voice. It sounds like he is trying extra hard, but then it is also just a voice over job, so he has to be extra emphatic and stuff to give his personality to the character without using his face.

I would pay so much money for audiobooks narrated by him. Poetry or prose, any genre, any language.

My dream is for him to complete his memoir and make an audiobook with it in his own voice. He read an excerpt in one interview and it was so beautifully written.
This interview.. Iβm sure most have seen it. In case you havenβt β

I have. It’s really wonderful. I love how at the end he basically says the interview was better than therapy and now he’s going to go get drunk. π

But….I want him as Scar! He would have been perfect! Not to mention he lasts in the movie longer!

Great points! But not such a good tie in with Aryan’s soft launch, if that’s what this is.

Oh oh! If it’s all about Aryan’s launch, then SRK as Mufasa and Karan as Scar.

Ooo, now I want that too! And it would be a return to his roots as the villain.

Can’t believe I’m going to have to watch this. At least the beginning! Also, we should all love ourselves as much as Shah Rukh loves his collar bones. π
