Happy Saturday! I had big plans for today, but instead I am going to be mildly low energy and under the weather and do small plans. I hate that!
My idea for today was going to be cleaning and rearranging my apartment, grocery shopping, and then seeing Prithviraj’s new movie. But instead I caught my co-worker’s cold, and it’s at that perfect level where I feel mostly fine and just get a little bit worn out. I hate that! When you are too sick to do everything you want, but not so sick that you stopped wanting to do more stuff.
Anyway, while I try to do what I planned because I am stubborn like that, and then don’t manage to do it all because I’m not thinking straight, and finally return home angry at myself and just wanting to sit on the couch and watch Disney Plus, you all can chat!
Stuff to discuss!
How did I miss all the Street Dancer coverage? Which is clearly actually “ABCD 3” but for some reason they changed the title. Maybe trying to reassure new viewers you don’t have to watch the first 2 films?
Anyway, I LOVE THIS! I mean, I was always going to love it, I am that person who not only saw ABCD 1 and ABCD 2, but saw them opening weekend in theaters. But I like the message of “let’s be a dance team for the joint desi immigrant community in London that is struggling and needs hope”. And Shraddha/Varun just get better dancers with every movie. And Prabhudeva is back! And it is produced by T-Series which has the rights to allllll the good songs. Woo-hoo! Finally a film to look forward to in 2020!
This song, with the Young People, is okay. A little overly sexy and the costumes are weird, but still good.
But Prabhudeva coming back? WOO-HOO!!! That’s AMAZING!!!
Other stuff to discuss, the 2019 Awards continue to roll out, what other categories do you think I should add?
Are there any other upcoming 2020 movies I should be excited about and missed like I missed Street Dancer?
I’d find Varun a lot more bearable if he didn’t try to copy Govinda’s early career so blatantly. Now I’m beginning to actively hate him.

So mean! I guess I can see that, but he also feels very Salman Khan-like to me.

I’d be fine with it if it was nicer, like Munna Michael. But it’s not even doing it in a tribute or meta kind of way. And thinking about how much cuter and better Govinda was gives me acute depression.
I mean:
Though I realise a modern movie can never achieve the atonal greatness of vintage Bappi.

Also, I realise Chichi brought this on himself by bitching out David Dhawan, but the thing is, *I* didn’t bitch him out, why should I suffer?

lol yeah. He campaigned for a BJP member earlier this year, which is insane because he’s a former INC MP. Who knows, he’s like a weather vane. Although usually he turns into whatever direction is NOT useful.

I mean, at this point, I feel like by choosing to be a Govinda fan you have kind of cursed yourself with misery? The man is not stable.
On the other hand, I’m a cubs fan, so who am I to talk? (not sure if that reference is international or not, but it means I have chosen misery!)

You’re right there, lol. But taunting me with these imitations is just cruel.

Ooh, I disagree so much on Street Dancer. It look terrrrrrrible. Look at how the videos are cut. It’s supposed to be a dance movie but there are so many parts where people are just standing there looking at the camera. The bit in Garmi is especially bad. Someone on my twitter said they looked like meerkats following the camera.

But that’s how the songs always look in the trailer edit! And then Remo pulls them together in the final version. I still have faith.

That’s Tiger’s girlfriend, right? Disha? I’ve seen her in two, maybe three, movies. She is not great. Shraddha level, or a little worse.
But then, Mohit made Shraddha fun in Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain, so I will keep hope alive!

Let’s say my expectations when it comes to acting are very low. I just hope Disha won’t make the movie unwatchable. And being honest I will have my eyes on Aditya all the time.

AHH. So excited!! I started crushing on ARK in OK Jaanu and then binge watched most of his movies. Then came Kalank and while I hated just about everything in that movie, ARK’s character was ridiculously swooney! Cannot wait to watch him in this role.

I saw Little Women and I hated it. Preachy and pedantic. I kept comparing it with Helen which is a women-centered movie that gets the message across without bashing you over the head with it.

I have more women-centered Malayalam films for you! Ohm Shaanti Oshaana, 22 Female Kottayam, June. They all have female central/POV characters and are fascinating.
Also, I know I already rewrote Little Women (I remember I made Shahrukh Professor Bhaer and Anushka Jo), but what about a remake entirely cast with Ranbir’s ex-girlfriends? Kat as Meg, Deepika as Jo, Sonam as Beth, Alia as Amy? And then if I really want to be happy, I would cast Ranbir as Laurie and make him Evil. Like, the audience sees him try to flirt with Meg at the same time he is pretending to be All About Jo, and knows that his tutor and Meg are in love. And then after he is engaged to Amy, Jo finds Beth’s diary and learns he was also pretending to be in love with her and then callously cast her aside hastening her death/illness from which she is recovering out of the country (why be so sad?). Jo has to convince Amy that Laurie is evil, Meg takes a break from her widowhood to support her. Professor Bhaer (Ranveer obviously) shows up to help her, and maybe Meg gets a second chance at love with someone or other, and Amy ends up happily living with Jo and learning that she has talents beyond just being “pretty”.

LMAO, that would be a waaaaay better version of Little Women!
I’ve seen Ohm Shaanti Oshaana and really enjoyed it! I will check out the other two films.

So long as I’ve got you, before I write up the inevitable fanfiction, do we want Widow Meg to fall in love with the private investigator hired by her sisters to find proof of Laurie’s cheating, or do we want Amy to fall in love with the private investigator hired by her sisters? OH OH! A PI team, one is investigating and one is acting as a distraction to seduce Amy away from Laurie, but then he falls in love for real himself. Really, Alcott should just rewrite this whole book, it could be so much better.

I kind of feel like at least one of the Little Women needs to find herself a little woman. How about the PI being played by Rani?

And Zoya and Reema can direct!
Amy has always been flirty and focused on gaining self-esteem through her looks and male attention. But then Anushka, part of the brother-sister PI team, inserts herself in her life as a friend during the wedding period, Anushka finds herself revealing more of her real self then she intended, Amy finds herself revealing too much too, they end up bonding and then falling in love. Amy is completely confused, until Anushka shows up at the wedding to declare her love and Amy is over come and runs to her.

My expectations for Street Dancer were initially really low, because I didn’t really like ABCD2. I love Varun and Shraddha as a couple, but I was a little disappointed when I heard they were going to reunite for what’s basically ABCD3, because their chemistry deserves a full-fledged romance, which ABCD 2 was most certainly not. But the more I’ve been following the promo, the more excited I am for Street Dancer. It looks like the ultimate enemies to lovers trope, and the choreography and performances are incredible. Garmi is great, but I hate the song, and anything involving Nora somehow becomes really trashy for me. Another one just came out today (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjMtaw2mrrc) and Shraddha absolutely crushed it. She’s so overlooked as a dancer. And I really like the first song Muqabla, but the video is lacking. Yeah, Prabhudeva is great, but he has such low energy compared to literally everyone else in the video, that it doesn’t feel like he cares at all, which is disappointing. That being said, I’m still probably going to see it opening weekend.

Yaaaay, another new song! And a gift for you, the original “Muqabla” song (if you haven’t seen it) with a much freakier video.
