Happy Saturday! I am so happy I don’t have to work today! This week was exhausting, it’s nice to have time off from that work, and more time for other work.
My Dad and I have big plans today, this is the day Albie Dog stops smelling like a dog and scratching us with his little nails. In other words, we hold him down under a stream of cold water and rub soap in his eyes, then wrap him in a towel straight jacket and grab his paws and cut away at his toes. Good news is, is will forget the whole thing in about 30 seconds.
Anyway, things to talk about! How cute is this Deepika post after she talked about Marie Kondoing and labeling everything in her apartment?
Second, it’s Sai Pallavi’s birthday! Who loves her? Who doesn’t love her? Who has never heard of her?
Final question, tomorrow is Mother’s Day, how are you celebrating?
I am celebrating by spending all day with my mother, again. And we mail ordered some presents that I have hidden in my room. But tomorrow night is my turn to pick the movie and I’m NOT GIVING THAT UP!!!! The movie picking schedule is sacrosanct and unbreakable, even for important holidays. She will just have to wait until Tuesday, as scheduled.
Bonus question, Karan Johar’s instagram is insanely charming right now, it is perfect timing for him to start a serious social media relationship with another international celebrity. Who do we want to set him up with?
Anderson Cooper! Newly single, with equal fame to Karan, and he just had a baby. Picture Karan’s twins with a new little stepbrother. Would that not be adorable?

I’m still watching Saaho. It’s not my fault, it just KEEPS. GOING. There was a brief moment of colour and I laughed out loud twice at Bad Boy (song of the year for me, belatedly, you couldn’t make something funnier if you tried) but we’re back in blue grey with some tan purgatory now.

Also finishing OSO! It’s great. It gave me deep Sunil Dutt feelings and I want to rewatch everything of his.

Wait for “Baby Won’t You Tell Me (tell me tell me)”. It lives up to it’s title.
But yes “Bad Boy”! If you ever had the question “what would happen if a 26 year old boy was given a literally unlimited budget to make a song sequence”, now that question has been answered.
The most important thing to keep your eye on while watching Saaho, is that Shraddha is COMPLETELY USELESS. You keep thinking she is going to do something useful, and then she doesn’t.

I have never identified more with a character than with the woman who shouts “Whoo!” when Prabhas lands from jumping off that cliff in the Alps.
I mean, is anyone in this film useful is the question I have. It’s a chaos vortex and I have no idea who anyone is or why. I might as well be watching La Coquille et le Clergyman.

This is true. Including Neal Nitin Mukesh as World’s Most Useless SuperCop.
Oh, Jackie! Jackie is good at his job.

I truly hope Jackie comes back from the dead in a twist at the end because some nude Jackie would cheer me up. Though shirtless Prabhas was great, I have to admit.

Neal was also at least pretty cute!

I hope this video comes through. It answers the question of whether or not Shahrukh is bewigged. Caution – if it plays, it’s LOUD!

Oh my gosh. That’s so Deepika to be productively using the lockdown to clean house and organize. And yes, adorable. I would like to have Ranveer as a beautiful prop to use in my photos. He seems much more cooperative than my husband or children.
I love Sai. Happy birthday, Sai!! I love watching her, she has a radiant spirit and she brings me joy. Thank you for posting Vachinde, one of my go-tos. More Sai:

The only photo partner I have is Albie Dog, and I think he is probably less cooperative than even your children.

This is a seriously depressing article about what the Indian film industries will look like after COVID-19 but not surprising:

Blech, why read something depressing?
The lockdown threat is really just an acceleration of the existing threat to films. The audience is being driven to stay home by all kinds of factors (cheap price of satellite TV, cheap cell phones with their internet streaming ability, multiplexes with their price and location making them inaccessible to the majority of the population). The single screens have been disappearing at a phenomenal rate for years and with them, the stable sustaining audience for the movies. Any sense that theatrical releases are in good shape was always an illusion based on rocketing ticket prices and wide release for the few megahit films, which came at the expense of every other movie.
Which is why I am perhaps less depressed! People who care have been fighting this threat for a long time, Ajay and Salman buying up single screens to keep them open, Saif fighting to make sure his movie is Drive’d, and so on. It’s not like everything was hunky dory until two months ago. Now instead of theaters slowly fading away over the course of the next two years, they are going out with a big spectacular bang that will maybe make people care about it.
