It’s Arjun and Karisma’s birthdays this week, that’s why them, and we haven’t seen a Shahrukh movie in a while, which is a good enough reason to include him. So, help me! What should we watch?
Just gonna throw some ideas out there:
Mubarakan
Fun, silly, comedy with Arjun. Plus side, fun silly comedy. Negative, kind of hard to snark on comedy, and Athiya Shetty.
Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna
Shahrukh and Rani, swoony, romantic. Negative, kind of long, and opinions are mixed as to whether the plot works
Jaanwar
Ridiculous over the top action film with Karisma. Negative, some of us don’t like Akshay any more and the plot kind of weaves all over the place.
Or really, any other movie! Give me ideas! It’s been overcast and rainy all week here in a way that is not unpleasant, but has lead me to be very sleepy and mildly headachey, so my brain is not working. Suggestions, PLEASE!
I vote for ‘Mubarakan’ since I haven’t seen it!
But if you want snark suggestions then ‘Hum Saath Saath Hai’ or ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ works very well in terms of Karisma and as for Arjun then ‘Gunday’ in all its OTT homoerotic glory (not as good as ‘War’ though which is the gold standard in this), but it has a minus in having Priyanka in it.

Angie will be so happy if we do Mubarakan! She still won’t join us, but at least it will make her happy.
Hum Saath Saath Hain and DTPH are both great suggestions, only downside being I might fall asleep while watching either of them.

Yes, I can’t join but Mubarakan is fun and Athiya Shetty doesn’t ruin the movie because she has an appropriate, little role.
Other Arjun suggestion: Gunday, I know you love it.

I haven’t actually watched Gunday straight through, because of the PC of it, I just watch the opening song and ending when PC gets pushed in the mud over and over again.

Really? I was sure you watched it several times!

I have watched the “Season of Love” song so many times that it adds up to having seen the movie at least a dozen more. So there’s that!

I vote for Karishma. ‘Shakti’ is great, as is ‘Fida’. SRK has a special appearance in ‘Shakti’ so best of both worlds. Pairing Hritik and Karisma as siblings in ‘Fida’ worked well, I think.

But both Shakti and Fida are so saaaad! I want something happy for my Karisma.

Karisma recommendations: Raja Hindustani, Andaz Apna Apna, Judwaa, HSSH, or Jeet.
Arjun K recommendations: 2 States.
SRK recommendations: Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Paheli.

Oooo Jeet! It’s so delightfully insane. But maybe too insane? Like, will it be a Aaina issue where folks enjoy watching the movie too much to comment?
Paheli, on the other hand, seems very appropriate.

Well you know me…I’m always going to err on the side of my beloved SRK. Today (in India time) is his 28th Khan-iversary in film. Big goings on in the SRK fan universe so that makes me want to pick a film w him in it. Even I cannot see HNY again right away tho, Filmikhudi. But off Srk I like 2 states. I just watched DTPH and not into it now but would love to go back in a time machine for HSSH!

Oh I wish we could watch Dil Aashna Hai to celebrate!!!! Deewana isn’t nearly as fun and crazy. But DAH is impossible to find, very frustrating!
What do you think about Filmikudhi’s Paheli suggestion?

I totally forgot that we had just watched HNY. This is what happens when I am multitasking. Completely agree with you that I would love to go back to HSSH.

We did but actually I was referring to the large number of times my 8 year old asks to watch HNY. Between him, and my friend Shivani’s boys it’s nonstop. I don’t want to stop enjoying it, so I’d rather watch something else with y’allX
