Weekend WatchAlong: 8am, Jeans! On Netflix!!!!

Happy Saturday!!! This is a last minute WatchAlong, so I’m not sure if anyone can join. I will give it 15 minutes and then give up. But if you can join, this is a delightful insane 90s twins romantic comedy and you will like it!

Jeans

It’s on Netflix (yaaaay!), it’s a little less than 3 hours, it has a great soundtrack and beautiful young Aishwarya, and a bonkers plot. Also, lots of USA scenes so it’s appropriate for the 4th of July weekend.

At 8am Chicago time, I will put up an “And PLAY” comment and then see if anyone joins me!

      • Ok so correction – it wasn’t a Buffzeed video, it was a Netflix one featuring a few popular South Indian Youtubers… mainly for the promotion of the movie on the platform!

(The reaction vid reminded me that the film had a pretty cute caption to go with the title haha – “Cotton 0%, Love 100%” 😄)

  1. And now I’m screaming “PLAY!” at my TV because Netflix is being stupid and slow. I’m gonna have to fast forward 2 minutes to catch up.

    • YES! I tried to watch Pardes the other week and couldn’t find it with subtitles anywhere but Einthusan, which I can’t watch on my big TV, so I saw bits and pieces of it where I kinda remembered what they were saying.

  2. I had this same issue last time I went to India! Well, not really, but I was worried about it because Indian addresses are sooooooooooooooooo long and specific. I had it written down in a bunch of different places to make sure I had it right.

  3. Aish’s outfit is RIDICULOUS!!! She is so sexualized with the hat and tiny skirt and everything. I guess I like it that she is modern and western, but it’s also kind of extreme.

  4. Also people saying Maghesh I think may be an indicator towards how often h in words of other languages gets replaced with g in Tamil.

  5. The only other movie I’ve seen the Paati actress in is the Hindi Hulchul where she is HORRIBLE. I mean, a great actress, horrible character. I have a hard time thinking of her as trustworthy here and not about to start a vicious family feud.

  6. Glad Aish has a nice serious black dress for Serious Scene. they really are using Aish and her clothes as 50% of the visual interest in this film.

  8. Best practices in America now is to confirm and have the patient sign and initial the area that needs the operation right before it happens. I had to do that with my bunion surgery on my foot, it felt really silly to use a marker to initial the correct foot. But apparently that is the only way to avoid these issues!

    • I’m just so impressed by all the doctor’s linguistic abilities. They can totally understand him even when he isn’t speaking English!

  9. Ok I do like the way the hospital tried to handle it. Is it the bare minimum? Yes. Did it still feel good that they took full responsibility and tried what they could to fix it? Also yes.

    • Why is she so happy when her grandma has to have a second surgery? And how can Grandma be up and about so fast after two brain surgeries?

    • The airport scene lost me. I realized I didn’t really care about their love, and only liked Aish’s character in that she was nice to look at and I could have cared less about the twins. So I’ve been half watching, while gardening and cooking ever since.

      • Yeah I feel like Shankar spent too little time building up that romance in his need to move ahead to the main conflict about the dad’s obsession with twins. I do find them sweeter during their confession and after that but I can barely remember how they got to that point!
