This story really hit me hard. It is in my community, I know the groups that are speaking out, the community center where they held the press conference is walking distance from my house. And also, it is just so sad. So so so so sad. I was reading the article thinking, “I don’t even know how to express how I feel”. And then I remembered, Shahrukh already expressed it for me. And that’s why I turn to him, because he is always there for me, the things I am feeling that I cannot say, he has already felt and said them.
As you know, I don’t usually refer to My Name is Khan because it deals with things that are too sacred to be mixed in with my regular fangirl tone. But today, it is exactly right.

I didn’t read the article…I’m well aware of the many atrocities humans do to humans and I understand why ShahRukh is a spiritual support (not only to you).
MyNameIsKhan holds a special place in my love system exactly because ShahRukh endorses the most endearing traits people with a mild form of Autism can have…they are truthful, authentic, honest and somehow with a childlike soul. ShahRukh himself has mild autistic traits in him.
Although Karan overdid some things (it seems to be in his nature), I’m thankful to him that he made this movie.

This is the kind of thing I was afraid of happening with the kind of narratives and ‘news’ being presented ever since the crisis started. This is what happens when the media and governments constantly dehumanize a group of people and peddle war propaganda. So sick of everything!

Finding a way to talk about this with my kids was horrible. It’s one of those events that breaks understanding, so hard to fathom. How degraded a way of seeing outside of your head that you no longer recognize the humanity of a child? I know many terrible things happen and are happening now. This feels personal. And yes, I can understand how it also feels like a callback to after 9/11, my heart breaks to think of all the parents parent living with this fear again.
