Happy Thanksgiving in America. I am hanging out at my parents’ house with Albie waiting for the Turkey to cook and listening to family phone calls coming in from folks. And it all just makes me super grateful for YOU!
One of the best parts about being human is being needed. And I really love that all of you need me, and that you need each other, and I need you. I was thinking recently how I haven’t been back to church for a while, but I haven’t actually missed it. And then I realized, this has become my church. Not in a religious way, but in a community way. I know all of you, I know your families, I get to enjoy hearing about your lives growing and changing, this is now my wider community.
And I am so grateful for that. I am so grateful that you all share your lives with me, and I get to share my life with you. I am so grateful that I can feel part of a wide network of folks, all over the world, holding me up as I hold you up.
This is a blog that started as “just” a film blog. And sure, it is still that. But it’s become so much more. And when I think about my life, about the pillars that hold me up and keep me steady, this community is a large part of it.
Even if I don’t reply to your comments right away, even if I don’t post for a few days, even if it seems like I have floated away, I haven’t. I’m here, thinking about y’all, all the time. And I am so so so so so so HAPPY that I have y’all to think about.
