Yes! I think we can make this work!!! I can go Xmas shopping that afternoon and be home in loads of time.
The Archies
I love the books, and it’s got a really interesting cast. Khushi Kapoor (Sridevi’s daughter), Agastya Nanda (Amitabh’s grandson/Raj Kapoor’s great grandson), and Suhana Khan (Shahrukh’s daughter). Most importantly, it’s directed by Zoya and Reema, and I love love love love them! Come to think of it, Zoya is Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani’s daughter. But I don’t even think of that, she is so very much her own person she has clawed out of those very big shadows.
I want to watch it, but I also don’t want to watch it, you know? Like, I’m afraid it’s gonna be so emotional I’ll just be overwhelmed. So I will wait and watch it with all y’all! At 6pm Chicago time tomorrow, I will put up an “And PLAY!” comment and we will all just comment along from there!

I’m not going to be able to make the watchalong but just chiming in to say I found the guy who plays Reggie really cute. And then felt weird, because he’s playing a teenager and I don’t know his real age anyway, so I looked him up and he’s exactly 5 years younger than me and that makes it better, whew.

I felt similarly! Reggie was absolutely the breakout star for me. Enough so, that I had to look him up. To me he had this young Ranveer Singh look and charm about it.

Filmikhudi, I didn’t see the RS resemblance, but now that you’ve said it, I cant unsee it. Also read your comments, I thought Khushi had that glow too – at least in the scenes I watched, she sort of embodied Betty. I sadly found Suhana to be trying hard, sort of camera conscious so it wasn’t natural… Also went on to find Dot’s music on YT. She’s SO GOOD. GORGEOUS voice!

If the stars line up, I’ll drop in for a bit. Curious to see this take on The Archies. Like do they still call him Jughead (which is such an outdated, body shaming nickname) and do they stick with the modern character arcs of the comics and which one is Veronica again? – inquiring minds want to know!

Veronica is Suhana. Zoya made it in an anglo Indian community so she could retain the original names from the comics

I’m hoping to be there for the second half! I have a dance recital I promised to attend starting at the same time, but it shouldn’t last 2.5 hours! I guess that means I should watch the first half now!
