Fighter Release Day Post! Let Us All Remember the Greatest Dance/Flight Moment of Film!

Happy Fighter Release Day! I am SO EXCITED! I’m also still a little sick but hoping I can power through (and I will be wearing a mask because I am a good person).

What we know for sure about Fighter is that it will have airplanes, and also dancing. But will it attempt to compete with the Greatest Flight/Dance Stunt of All Time? Probably not, because even Sidharth Anand would not expect us to believe it.

You know Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers? Their first movie together they were the comic relief characters, two broadway dancers brought in to spice up a movie about a bandleader who falls in love with an heiress in Brazil. The only reason this minor movie is now remembered is because it was Fred and Ginger’s first movie together. And for the moment when the director went “No one really knows how airplanes or dancers work, let’s do something CRAZY!”

I will be SO HAPPY if I am proved wrong. If Hrithik leads a massive troupe of dancers in a midair dance sequence, my life will be made.

Additional questions I look forward to having answered:

Who Will Have the Most Chemistry? Hrithik-Dips, Hrithik-Anil, Dips-Anil? Currently guessing, Hrithik-Anil.

Will Hrithik be playing half his age, Mohenjo Daro Style? I really really hope not! Sounds like it’s gonna be a “learning to fly going through flight school” story, but Hrithik could be, like, an older gentleman trying to achieve his dreams late in life?

Who will be the villain? Just occurred to me, we only have those three cast members promoted, right? So either the villain is Their Own Cockiness like in Top Gun, or it’s Anil Kapoor. I would be okay either way.

  1. I am watching Fighter tonight also!!! AHHH

My week has been insane. As you know, I was traveling for work in the beginning of the week and on Wednesday we had a giant crisis in another country that my team has been working around the clock to fix.

So, I am tired but also weirdly energized because crisis management is thrilling and I love it. At the same time it when I am working 100 hours around the clock, I don’t feel like I can wind down in the evening and thus have had a really hard time sleeping. I have a feeling I will crash once this crisis is over.

But as a treat, I am going to see Fighter with my sister tonight after the kids go to bed!!! OOH also, my sister found a theater that serves samosas during intermission! I am so excited about that! The last time I had samosas at the theater while watching a Hindi movie was in India!

Okay so now Fighter thoughts and feelings…

I was weirdly more excited about it before the trailer came out. The trailer gave me pause because stupid jingonism. I really really hope it isn’t too bad on that front. I have less faith in Hrithik than Shah Rukh or Salman to get Sid to tone that down.

Anil and Hrithik have to have the best chemistry right?!

I am worried about how Hrithik looks also. I loved him in War where he looked his age. I am not a fan of him trying to look younger.

Unfortunately, I think the villian is someone from Pakistan. Let’s see how they handle it. But maybe they will also make hubris one of the villians. That would be nice!

    • Or maybe the villain will be NAMED Hubris!!! And he can introduce himself with a big monologue about how he is the dark side of every great man, the fatal flaw in every plan, the villain that lives within the Hero-HUBRIS!

  2. I was foolishly hoping they would be playing their same spy characters from War and Pathaan in a different movie.

THAT dance!!! The woman screaming as she fell and then “landed” on a plane below – really? Definitely memorable.
